Sue, that really looks like a nice air compressor (Black and Decker AS1300). It is smaller than the one I have and only 6 pounds! Amazon has them for only $47. I love that it works on 120 and the cigarette lighter. If I decide mine is too big, that one sure looks like it would be great.

When I drive, I turn the fridge off. When I park I put it on Auto. That allows the propane to kick in to cool if there is a power outage. (Was in one park that I had power outages and I just switched it to propane to keep it from flipping back and forth.)

Leaving the rig while you fly out. I am right now in Las Cruces and my rig is in San Antonio at an RV park. The electric is plugged in for the refrigerator and I have the vents open to help vent the heating during the day. My concern would be that depending on how long you are gone you could run the battery down. Although the fridge runs on propane it takes a certain amount of power to run the boards in the unit. I would imagine that you could run your coach battery down. Not sure the airport would want you to park with the propane running and not in attendance.

I use my propane a lot, because I cook a whole lot, and then a bunch more after that. Not at all unusal for me to: cook biscuits and fix bacon and eggs for breakfast; make a pasta dish with garlic toast for dinner; make a pot of soup on the top of the stove. I baked a mincemeat pie a week ago.

Last winter I used both the furnace and ceramic heater(s) depending on where I was. I used the propane cooking and heating Oct, Nov and part of Dec and filled up once and then I topped off before I headed to FL in mid-Jan. I use an extended tank when I am camped and save my on-board for when I run out in the portable tank.

I use electric for the h/w unless I am dry camping then I use the propane. I had my tank switched out and wired to accommodate.

I have an air compressor, battery jump starter, emergency light that is both 12 volt and 110. It doesn't make coffee! I have aired my rig tires up with it and I have used it to jump start a friend's rig. I got it at CostCo or Sam's about $70. It is about the size of a 24 pack of drinks but not as heavy. I try to remember to re-charge it every 3 or so months just in case. Just remember that it has to pump to a high pressure...small ones sometimes have problems with that.

My a/c is electric only but my Fantastic Fan Vents run on 12 volt and they help keep the air pulled thru the rig.
