See y'all soon...

We had an awesome time in Butte LaRose this weekend! There were 16 women in attendance and what a great fun-loving bunch of friends we have :) And the people in Louisiana are so friendly and fun!

We started off at the world famous Mulates on Friday night. It was an amazing place with live Zydeco music and pretty much actually wherever we went!

Sat morning, we went to the infamous Cafe De Amis for breakfast/brunch. Some of our sisters started out their day with Mimosas there. LOL It was just so famously attended it was a a 2 hour wait for food since we didn't get there very early ;)

Then we went down the street for some lunch! Again, we were entertained by a wonderful local and his SO. He really catered to us. And another gentleman even invited us all to dance while we waited for our food :) I think we threw them a curve ball when ALL 16 of us walked in. They had to go get more crawfish, but we waited patiently for a delicious meal while we enjoyed the entertainment :) Our sister Shirley even helped wait our tables. LOL!!! Gotta love her :)

Then, we all split up in two groups for the afternoon's festivities. Birdie, Diana, Karen and myself went off on a swamp boat tour of the Atchafalaya River Basin. Our Captain was so informative and we all learned alot about the culture and the area. The rest of the group went off to another town to check out the sights. I'll let them tell you about that and share their pictures.

We all met back up together at McGee's Landing for dinner. Can you tell we love to eat? lol I had a list of items I wanted to try while there and managed to do it all! Friday night, was a seafood platter of Fried crawfish, oysters, alligator, cat fish and Gumbo! Saturday was more craw fish and etouffee. We couldn't find any beneighs (French doughnuts) that time of day in Breaux Bridge, but my sisters found some later that afternoon at a bakery during their adventures and brought me some home! Then...on my way home this am...I stopped for some boudin ( sausage and rice) for breakfast to go with my beneighs ;) What a culinary delightful weekend! :) Back to the salads tomorrow. hahaha!!!

After we got back to the park, we all gathered in the rally room to play some bingo! Pat, Martha's sister was the caller and also contributed to the prizes. Thank you Pat!

Here we all are :)

And the winners are...

Birdie...who graciously donated her flamingo lights to Carolyn :) She already had one string, but they weren't long enough. So she needed another set.

And Martha won too!

Thank you so much Carolyn, Martha and Pat for such an awesome weekend full of friendship, laughter, education & great food! I think I can speak on behalf of us all and attest to what a great time we had :)

Love ya's,

Sharon

PS: I had to leave out early this am, but last report was they were in a casino this afternoon hoping to turn $20.00 into $20,000 for diesel dollars for this summers travels ;) LOL!!! So hang onto that bail fund!

I am resting today! Will post pics after I get them resized and up to PB. Had a great time. Lots of fun was had by all. Then Sue had a leak; Liz and Kim had an oops when they went to pickup the doll house; Birdie lost her keys and they were found at the RV park where she stayed just before getting here. I'll bet Carolyn and Martha are pooped. Martha was planning on getting Harold home Tuesday from rehab...let's hope that happens and he continues to heal and do well. We probably have a couple dozen  , okay a couple hundred pics....some good...some not so good. More later gals. Time to start breaking down, dumping and getting ready to head out Tuesday morning.

Okay, first I have to say a BIG thank you to Carolyn, Martha and Pat for putting this (and bringing us) together!

It was the maiden voyage for Carra and Mille, and they both did rather well! I enjoyed seeing "known" buddies again and meeting new people - so much fun.
I can tell you that I ate WAY too much and loved every bite :o
Sharon (Sprinter), just so you know, we did stop at Coushatta......didn't turn $20 into $2000, but did $20 into $250 at a slot machine that had pink flamingos on the reels. Thought those birds MUST be an omen so I had to try

Carra decided on the way from Coushatta to Onalaska that maybe we should go a little further to make the last day shorter. "How about Huntsville" I say. "Well how about College Sta?", says she. Sure it's only another 2 1/2 hrs  Don't, I repeat DON'T stop in College Sta.

Oh well, we got home in one piece and already debating about a differant rig...

Ladies of La., thank you again. Enjoyed the company, the food and the education!!

I am just soooo jealous! Why oh why does California have to be so danged far from all the fun? First the GTG in Texas and now this one!! Looks and sounds like an awesome GTG, just sorry that I missed it! Food and gambling, my two favorites!!

Vicky, what was wrong with College Station?? Never been there, but might be in the area some day, so a heads up would be nice.
