It may be iffy for me in that area too. I do have 3 choices now....Verizon for internet, Sprint network smart phone my dd made me take, and my trusty Tracfone. One of them's bound to work.

I hope Sarah got word - there were several locations today giving out free ice and water, as well as some gas stations open on generator power to sell gas - but those had long lines.

Liz, also keep an eye on the Huntsville news. They've been on a "shutdown" from sunset to sunrise. No real problems, but this is helping keep it that way.

Travel safe - and remember, if you can't even get a cell call - you probably can text - that seems to work when even calls don't.

Thanks so much for all the updates gals. I was worried about all our "sisters" down in the south after hearin and seeing of the devastation. I'm so glad that all are okay. And LIz, that's great of you to try to get to Sarah. If I were closer, I would bring her here with me. But I'm a bit of a distance away as you know.

What a great bunch on this site. Although we "yak" back and forth through various posts, some of you have met each other and others of us have not, we stil get greatly concerned about each other in situations like this as well as others. I feel like i have a "million" friends out there in RV land. :)

Thanks for the phone call/message. Sorry I missed talking to you. If you talk to Sarah thank her for thinking of me. I'd heard about everyone in Huntsville - only had my good friend in Arab I was still waiting on an update on - got a message from his daughter today. Whew. His cell phone is dead - another worry when you can't charge them, eh?

I think it would be great if Sarah would get down to your place. She needs power for her cpap - and would be so much more comfortable until things get better in Huntsville. Thanks for being there for her.

Sarah did mention that even today the lines for gas were a mile long and she was not ready to use what gas she had to sit in them. Authorities are expecting more generators to be brought in so that more stations can be opened. Wendy, I am glad to know that she has some place to go if she decides to get out of town. Sarah had heard from another family that had had members get out of town. There are no available rooms until north of Nashville is what they found.

The shortage in not in gas (at the moment) but in the power to operate the stations. She also mentioned that Publix was rationing the produce that they were getting in so that as many people as possible could get some. But hey, she has peanut butter and crackers still! :? And her land line is working again. It is all one day at a time.

I'm so glad to hear that our "family" is okay. I just can't seem to wrap my brain around the devastation I'm seeing on TV. It blows my mind to see whole blocks of homes leveled, and then one house seemingly unscathed.

Maybe this is a good reminder to everyone to do what they can to be at least semi-prepared for disasters. Being in earthquake country, I always try to keep my gas tank at least half full. That would get me 150-200 miles away if needed. Another thing I do is keep $100 cash in both cars -- in small bills. And I've got a white RV hose next to my hot water tank, in case I need water for a few days.

I know that if your house is totaled that nothing would help, but at least there are a couple of things that might help if you have options.

I'm still praying for everyone & will continue to.

Wow----good news and bad news all mixed in. Good that Sarah is ok, but bad that she has no power. Liz, if you are heading that way, please be very careful and watch the radar closely, if you have internet connections, that is. Tell Sarah I am thinking of her, and happy to hear she is still kicking, even if sleeping upright! If you get there before her food spoils, have a celebratory feast to life! I agree that the pictures of the devastation in that area are horrifying, to say the least.

All of you in that tornado alley, which is HUGE this year, please stay in touch as often as possible. I am sending good thoughts your way, and hoping for a change in the weather patterns soon.
