Wet Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wet Thursday

Postby Colliemom » Thu Apr 28, 2011 6:29 am

Good Morning all,

I've got a bit of time here before I head off to work this morning, so thought I would check in.
Cloudy and and going to be a bit of a wet day here today with possible some mix for late today. Yesterday was a washout pretty much as far as getting anything done at work. We did get the plumbing fine tuned and water is turned on to two of the buildomgs. We mow have to get them cleaned up so we can open them a week from tomorrow. But mom nature isn't giving us any cooperation in that regard. So may be tomorrow before we can do anything. With the cold air in the buildings and the doors open, letting in the muggier damp air, the inside walls were sweating like crazy. Got to let things dry out before we do anymore. So spent the rest of the day puttering around inside HQ, doing little odd jobs here and there, filling out required paperwork for the state etc.

But I having been following the horrendous tornado outbreak in the south and certainly hope that those of you down there are okay. Such devastation in Tuscaloosa, AL and not to far from Birmingham either. And even in TN and I hope all are okay as well. Those of you who are in these areas, please check in and let us know if you are okay. I think about Readytogo and hope that she doesn't have her MH up in Guntersville yet. I know she has been wanting to get somethinga bit smaller, but that's the hard way to do it. Stay safe and out of harm's way all.

Morning all. Sarah, Wendy, Mitch, all those in the hit states, please check in. I didn't see any of your cities listed in the really bad - but still want to see that all are ok.

Off to work. .

GOOD MORNING ALL!

I see the tornadoes haven't let up one bit, and many were killed overnight in them.....about 150 people that they are aware of so far. As soon as my next retirement check gets here, on the 31st, I will attempt to check the radar and see how many days of fair weather might be in the cards for travel. As for 'dodging' the storms, there is no dodging when you are driving a very long truck hauling a heavy trailer. I need good weather on route 95 to be able to make it back home----at least until I get north of Richmond when I will cut across to route 81. I don't want to feel forced to keep driving and driving and driving until I am exhausted and able to fall asleep in order to get north of the tornado belt. But I will be all packed by the time my check arrives, and ready to haul at a moment's notice. The heat down here yesterday, 95 degrees, was a bit oppressive, even for me. It is good I have a cold again and another cough that won't quit, so Molly and I just stayed pretty much inside. This morning, before our front moves through, I hope to do something with those adders' tongues. My house that I cleaned with bleach the other day looks pretty good now, and it's ready out there to plant something along that bare wall.

Maybe I can even visit the pool when I am through---I think I am feeling a bit better---throat not quite so sore and fever seems to be gone.

Please check in with us, Carolina Carole, and anyone else in the rampaged south. It is like a war out there just a bit north of here.

I am trying a larger font to see if it's easier for 'older' eyes to read! Coffee is hot, so stop in and chat a bit!

P.S. That font is TOO big! I wish I had the ability to make the 'normal' setting just a bit larger!

Happy travels!

Good Morning... wow there is a huge ball of fire in the sky... well it will turn to rain by noon again... I will enjoy it while I can...
My daughter Jackie had knee scope surgery yesterday... the doctor removed a lot of damage... she had a rheumatoid nodule removed when she was 16 this is only the second time she has had to have a surgery on her knee... she was doing ok last night when I talked to her...
oh my how sad there is now a report of 200 or more people killed in the tornado outbreak yesterday... how sad... please Sarah let us know you are ok...
oh Sue the soggy weather would sure play havoc on your work for sure...
I trust those in the storms eye will check in today...

Awaiting word from those I know in the path of those storms yesterday, including Carolinagal. Severe storms predicted here in FL later today and tonight. Not as severe as what AL etc. got, I hope.

Done with the dr. appts. Need to make an appt. with a "memory support" counselor. (is there such a thing?) Ranking right up there in the "duh" moments, I went to renew my vehicle tags for 2 years today before heading out on my trip. (You can do it up to 3 months ahead of your birthday.) Found out I had done that for 2 years last year, and they aren't due until July 2012. Whatever. Only problem with that is that I plan to be on the road this time next year, so will have to figure out a way to have it mailed to me where ever I am. Just an inconvenience. Hope I remember I have to do it next year, though.

Stay safe, those still in the area of bad weather.

Good morning! bluebird day here today - well-deserved I must say. However, my heart is with those hard-hit by tornadoes yesterday. Nature is so so powerful when she wants to be.

You probably won't hear alot from me for the next week or so, as we strive to pack up house and situate RV and tie up loose ends here in Colorado. Of course, you may get the occasional squeal of help or delight! lol

Enjoy the day and whatever it brings!

Hello ladies!

It's a little after noon on the east coast and it's mildly storming here right now. There are tornado watches on the other side of the state. I hope everyone is safe and hope those in the southern states get in touch when they can. My thoughts & prayers have been with those in the bad storms.

I received a large box of flowers in pots and another basket of fruits & snacks from my brother today to celebrate Administrative Professionals Day. The flowers will go out in my flowerbeds this weekend. They are just gorgeous. Tomorrow my brother will be taking me out for lunch as he was busy today.

The skies just broke loose but we've had several days of sunshine so I won't complain.

Take care everyone.

Morning ladies and welcome to a sunny Thursday. A drying out day in my part of the state. Has anyone heard from Mitch? Her part of the state got hit hard. I used an "illness in the family" day and stayed home from school yesterday. The goddess was working and I had no one to stay with Gus. He is 13 and terrified of storms. I couldn't leave him home alone so we snuggled in the bed together and watched the weathermen warning us about the winds and tornadoes. Poor Murfreesboro got hit hard again - about 30 miles down the road. Also lots of flooding west and south of town. I did get some water in my den but it should all dry out today.

What about Sarah? Huntsville got pounded hard. If April showers bring May flowers, then next month should be covered in roses!

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

I was informed that I had been MIA for to long and needed to check in. So "here me is"! LOL I did reply on a few posts last week so at least a few of you hopefully realized that I am still around. Yep Kelly and I are both still alive and kicking. And we both have all our hair still on our heads and no black eyes! So we are surviving our lives in the RV.

My heart and prayers go out to all those suffering from the storms path of destruction. I sure hope everyone checks in and lets us know that they are OK. Have a friend who lives between Murfreesboro and Shelbyville. Haven't seen her post since the day before yesterday. I am holding my breath and saying big prayers for her.

Nothing much going on here, still the 'same old, same old'. We are both sooooooooooooo looking forward to going back to work on the 5th. Only 7 more days of sitting around in our pool of boredom! YAY!!! Will miss my computer time BUT will enjoy having a paycheck again!!!! No more pinching and squeezing pennies until they scream in despair and agony!!!

Have got 2 of the new tires on the trailer. Had bought a new jack but it just wasn't heavy duty enough to life the RV so had to borrow a neighbors 20 ton bottle jack. Now that bugger did the job, guess I will have to pick one up. Don't know if I'll get one with that weight rating? Maybe a 10 ton, that would still get the job done!!! LOL

Having a paycheck means that we will be able to work on the RV too. I figure probably around $1200 will do it. Patch the roof, replace the toilet, replace the kitchen faucet, fix or replace the hot water tank and of course the AC unit on the roof. Or I guess I could buy a small window unit and put it in the window over the sink?? Wouldn't be the prettiest fix but it would work. Got to do something before next summer if we are gonna work in TN or anywhere else where it will be hot. Can't leave Shade in here all day if it's too hot.

OK, I have now officially checked in to prove I still here. Have got to get off my duff and get busy. Need to clean the restroom, take the wheels off of here, take a shower, take the wheels and new tires to the shop and go to the store! Whew!!! Gonna be busy today. Take care everyone and please be safe!

Much Love To All

I just got back from shopping all day with my friend that is visiting from FL and I'm worn out. I did find several bargains, good thing as she pointed out that my wardrobe could use some updating. Yes sometimes it's only your oldest & dearest friends will sometimes tell it like it is to your face!
I'm glad we had news from most of those in the storms path, sounds like Sarah area was hit hard but thankfully she is ok. I'm worried though that we haven't heard from Mitch.
Maybe a little glass of wine would help my weary feet, think I"ll give it a try before the dogs want their dinner.
