congratulation for making the big decisions and finding a buyer. I keep trying to figure out how (in the future) I may want to combine the desire to have a "nest" and home base, avoid as much yard and fix it work as possible and be around nice people/neighbors and sense of community.

Sounds like things are going great Karen. Best of luck on the house sale and hope it all goes like greased pigs on a slide. Happy that Buddy and Sophie are buddying up to each other, makes it easier on everyone, especially mom!

A little pain when you get Sassy's ashes, but I hope that it brings closure and peace. Hugs to you, my friend.

as others have said I am happy for you to have a place that has roots... I like my Mobile Home here in Normal and I also like my Bright Hope for winter... one never knows when the time will come that we simply cannot drive our rig another mile...
Missed you at the FL GTG... hope next year you can make it...

Karen glad to hear that the house is selling. Hope the closing goes off without a hitch. So sorry to hear about Sassy but she is in a better place. Glad you can have her ashes nearby. Take care of yourself.

CONRATULATIONS, KAREN, on the sale of your house! I will have to agree with you that having a 'nest' from which to fly and to which to return is very nice. I moved so many times when I was a baby and young person that I never really had a chance to have a room to call my own, before we moved again. After this next long haul home with my trailer, I am hoping I will appreciate it more as a 'nest' on wheels, and one I can feel more comfortable hauling between my winter and my summer rooted house, and also one I will feel more able to haul short distances to explore other campgrounds. This first year of retirement has been an experiment for me, mostly, and one I have loved. I just really don't like hauling long distances alone, any more than I like camping alone. I have had the best of times this winter, as I could be in my own little 'nest on wheels' at my son's property, and then still have this neat house to return to and work around the yard. I don't need to mow, trim, go to the dump, treat my own pool, and yet I have the advantage of all those services. I also have nice neighbors all around down here, unlike the few good friends I have back at my northern home who live miles away.

Anyway, I think it's interesting to try things and see what we really enjoy doing. And, as we are all still very active and adept persons, we also change as we move along! It's fun reading about other people's thoughts and ideas and life's journeys.

Sounds like good news for you and a new chapter of your life just around the corner. We think we will probably do the same thing one of these days (already sold the house, would get a small mobile home, and downsize to a smaller RV). Hope the sale goes through just fine. Look forward to seeing photos of your new "home" when you get it.
