Good Friday, April 22

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Good Friday, April 22

Postby Colliemom » Fri Apr 22, 2011 6:00 am

Morning,

Cloudy and a little chilly here this morning, but promise of a nice day. Some rain moving in tonight and tomorrow morning, otherwise a nice weather pattern. Temps are warming up into the upper 40's and most of the snow from Tuesday night is gone.

Had some fun shopping yesterday. Always enjoy it when I can go buy stuff other than groceries. Bought a new runner for my hallway and moved the one from there to my kitchen. Tessa does not like walking on slippery floors, so I keep rugs down for her Bought a new Smokey Joe BBQ grill and will assemble that later today or tomorrow. I like the smaller table top grills as they are just right for one person, small enough to cart on my camping trips cause I can just stick them in my truck and off we go No having to lift big heavy grills or disassemble anything. Also got a nice new Craftsman tool box for my TT's tools. So now I will go through the tools I was carrying last year and do some weeding out. Ah, fun tmes in the spring.

Friend that I am havng a BBQ with on Sunday, may be coming by today sometime. Both of us are heading for church services as well. Me this afternoon, she tonight. I'm hoping to do a little work in the TT for a bit today as well. The wood I stained is still a bit tacky, so won't be monkeying with that just yet. Might set it out in the sun later on abit. Checked it to the original yesterday and decided it needed one more coat of stain, possibly two and then it will be done. Am giving serious thought to taking TT to dealer next week to have them dewinterize. Could do it myself, but time is getting short with work starting up and yardwork calling as well. We shall see.

Kathleen, glad to made it home safely. Sounds like you are enjoying being with family again and busy putting stuff away and enjoying your home.

So I am off to get my day going here. Hav a nice day all.

Good morning Sue & everyone!

Sue, I'm so glad your weather is warming up a bit and becoming more spring like. Hopefully old man winter has left till next year.

We are at the campground. We pulled in yesterday evening and are hunkered down for the weekend. We had a new converter installed yesterday, so our batteries are finally charging. We've been having 12 volt issues since last fall and finally broke down and bought 2 new house batteries and converter and everything is working the way it should be.

The day will be very relaxing, taking walks, checking out hiking trails and ending up by putting steaks on the grill for dinner.

My father was admitted to the hospital yesterday afternoon, but he's ok. We were told to go ahead with our camping trip ands enjoy ourselves. He was dizzy & seeing double. After a cat scan of his head & blood work, he was told his coumadin (sp) was too high and they need to get it regulated for him.

Enjoy your day and take care.

GOOD MORNING SUE, IRMI, AND ALL!

I have always found it very confusing as to why this day is Good Friday, as, it seems to me, that Mary and Jesus did NOT have such a good day while he was dying on the cross. I also have no idea how that rabbit and eggs come into play, although I watched a hilarious edition of Southpark last night about just that. Southpark is very controversial, and those of you with strong religious convictions would not appreciate that show---probably especially the one about Easter. But I thought the whole thing was very clever, not derrogatory whatsoever, and, in fact, had a very good, actually Christian, moral. Those kids on there, however, have totally sinful language, according to some! I am sorry to say they just crack me up! They did a show on Blanket Jackson one time, Michael's youngest son, that was amazing, too. They tackle today's moral issues and dilemmas with a vengeance.

HAPPY EARTH DAY, too! I love that they now have plastic-like containers that are completely biodegradable within 50 days. Why on earth would companies use anything but those now? I am going to look for places that use those exclusively, as our dumps are filled to overflowing with plastics that will be there forever.

Going to get going here and head to St. Cloud after I water my plants and bushes. It will be record-breaking hot there, they are predicting, so, if that pool is not usable, I will be back here in a flash!

Have fun camping, Irmi---nice that you can get out now!

And Sue, maybe you can now put away that shovel and roof rake?

Whatever your plans, I hope you all have a wonderful day and weekend. Sing the Hallelujah Chorus for me on Sunday, please, as that's one of my most favorite pieces of music! In fact, I have it downloaded on my cell phone, and need to choose that one for my ringtone this weekend----will do that right now!

Happy coffee hour!

Happy travels!

Good Morning to All from dark and dreary Indiana. Supposed to get lots of rain today and tonight but now it is just ugly out. Spent all day yesterday (our one sunny day) here in front of the new computer working on getting it set up. found out my scanner is just too old to work with Windows 7 - no drivers available. All my programs I use with my pictures are all fouled up cause they can't find the pictures. As I need them I'll redo them one by one. That includes my web pages too. Having problems getting the size of the print and screens right too - either too big or so small I can hardly read them.
So anyway most of today will still be spent playing with this.
Hope the weather is good for most everyone and that the rest of you can avoid going out in it.
We are having company for Easter dinner - I'm going to make paella - I hope. Haven't make it in a long time.

Hello everyone, from sunny Ala> This is a big day for me, it is five years ago today I lost my husband. I am sad but can now remember the good times and move on. The five year mark seems more of a turning point than the others were for some reason. Everyone have a wonderful safe and fun day! Good Morning from stormy, wet, cold and blustery Normal... get the picture... but it is good to be home and see family... My grandson Tim came over to visit yesterday... he used his bike for transportation as he does most of the time now... saving gas money for other things...
Tim called again toward evening and invited me to dinner... it was very nice to see all of the family and also Scott... dinner was waffles, fried potatoes, sausage egg casserole and beverages...
You are so right Wendy... there is a balance you must reach... I trust you are almost there...
Soos eggs are a symbol of new life...
May everyone take time to search inside themselves this Good Friday...

good morning ladies, no school today for Good Friday so I got to sleep in just a little but I've been
busy all morning. I think I have my issue with the small print figured out. Somehow the page got
spread out from side to side on Foxfire cause when I opened up IE, it was just fine. Discovering
a few other features on my laptop, like watching CNN on something called eSobi. Not sure if I'll
use it or not cause I think it could possibly eat up some megabytes although I have plenty, I do
monitor that sort of stuff. I had to go to eSobi website and even find out what it was as it came
preloaded on my computer from the factory and of course no documentation to tell me what all
these different goodies are.
Have been busy cleaning and rearranging my room and of course I keep taking breaks to check
in here :D so it will probably be an all morning process. Really need to get dressed though and
go pick up my other paycheck so I can fill my gas tank.
Finished off the coffee and had a little honey bun for breakfast. Enjoy your day and I hope all
have great weather for the 3 day weekend.

You tickled my curiosity...

History of Good Friday
As early as the first century, the Church set aside every Friday as a special day of prayer and fasting. It was not until the fourth century, however, that the Church began observing the Friday before Easter as the day associated with the crucifixion of Christ. First called Holy or Great Friday by the Greek Church, the name "Good Friday" was adopted by the Roman Church around the sixth or seventh century. This collection of Good Friday videos reflect the types of traditions associated with the history of Good Friday.

Good Friday Origins
There are two possible origins for the name "Good Friday". The first may have come from the Gallican Church in Gaul (modern-day France and Germany). The name "Gute Freitag" is Germanic in origin and literally means "good" or "holy" Friday. The second possibility is a variation on the name "God's Friday," where the word "good" was used to replace the word "God," which was often viewed as too holy to be spoken aloud.

Not so good Friday for me so far! Spent the first part of the day at Urgent Care. Woke up this morning with an acute bladder infection! Ouch! Urine was red with blood so knew I had to get in quick!

A few weeks ago I got a packet from Kaiser Permanente for my health insurance which confused me since I am not full-time right now (a requirement for insurance at work) and they haven't been taking any money out of my checks for insurance. I called KP this morning and they said I am insured so I used my new card for the UC visit and prescription, so we'll see...

Now I am $70 poorer  and very tired, but got my antibiotics and am gonna take a nap now.

>I left in such a hurry, I forgot to close my bedroom doorto keep the cats apart, and when I got home there were clumps of fur everywhere and a traumatized Sophie hiding under the bed. Oops! :o So sorry Sophie!!! My bad!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Big hug for you Wendy...yup, those anniversaries are killers. Had one myself last month. 7 years. For some reason hit me harder this year than last....7 year itch? LOL! I agree 100% on the words to that song. Posted earlier but it disappeared, I had to get moving, and now it's not morning anymore, but here I am anyway. Oh well, day late and dollar short, that's me. But I was thinking of you all day and sending up wishes to the Great Spirit that your day would be peaceful.

Trying to get ready for the Laughlin trip, clothes are in, partial groceries (don't know why I take so much, we eat out a lot and store is just down the road, other than it's hard to carry a gallon of milk on a motorcycle) and planning on giving Hope a bath tomorrow. Going to the BF's Sunday to pick up his dogs and then leaving on Tues early. The bikes need to leave early to miss the heat and I need to be there when they get there. Needless to say, they do 80, I do 65...so guess who needs to leave the earliest? LOL!

Gotta run, hope everyone had a great day...'cept Laura, I already read her and Jed had a crappy day.
