I am almost embarrassed to have whined so much about this air bag issue. But, due to the money involved it did "deflate" me for a bit (pun intended). I had to wait for Monday before I could contact Stumpy, at which time he answered his cell and said, "Hey, give me five and I will call you right back."...click, never called back. Next day I called again and forced the issue and got him on his front desk phone; told him I was going to a mechanic (Dennis) on Wednesday and he (Stumpy) needed to answer his cell phone on Wednesday when Dennis called with details.
So, Dennis finds the problem is two-fold...like I said, TOO CLOSE TO THE EXHAUST PIPE SO THE LINE MELTED, and one of the airbags was not mounted correctly and was now loose...that was the rattling I heard. So, Dennis fixes it and is ready to give Stumpy the call and I am right there with him, Dennis puts it on speaker so I can hear.... Stumpy answers, "Hello" Dennis says, "Hello Stumpy this is Dennis at Gold Hill Auto Repair"....Stumpers says,"Hey! Give me five and I will call you right back"....click. With eyebrows raised and head cocked I look at Dennis and say, "He won't call you back." Dennis figures he'll give The Stumpers five or ten maybe even 15 minutes to make good on his word. So, Dennis and I chat for 20 minutes or so about this thing and that thing and finally good ol Dennis has waited long enough; tells me to go ahead and take off without paying him and he will handle it from here. About an hour later Dennis calls me to say he got it covered on their Credit Card and all is well, I thank him for his efforts and wish him well. Can't say the same thing about Tillamook RV Repair and The Stumpers....a man's word should be his honor.
