We share our lives with these animals always knowing this time will happen. They depend on us for everything, even the needs at the end. She whimpered for help and you gave her just what was right, you did the right thing for her. Providing this for her is extreme compassion knowing you will suffer the pain. I will pray that your pain will pass quickly.

((((((((Hugs)))))))). So, so sorry for your loss. I know how much Sassy met to you, but she is now without her suffering. You did the right thing. Maybe this was why Sophie came into your life. Not that she will replace Sassy, but you once again have only two.

((((Karen))))) I can't say anything that all ready hasn't been said. But want to add this.

The Last Battle

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
and pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this--the last battle--can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
Don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
What is to come can hold no fears
You'd not want me to suffer, so.
When the time comes, please let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me til the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
it is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close--we two--these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Sorry to hear of Sassy's passing. I know you will be seeing her everywhere. I count heads throughout the day, sometimes still counting Sandy, making sure all come inside. Just shows how much apart of our lives they are. Hugs to you all. Buddy and Sophie will show their grief in different ways, I know mine have, so give them extra hugs and cuddles. Linda

Karen,

I was so sorry to hear of Sassy's passing when I got home today. It will be strange without her around for a while. I will remember her as being aptly named and always getting the last word in ;) May your pain lessen with a tincture of time. You did right by her and gave her a great life :)

Love ya,
Sharon

Oh Karen, so sorry to hear this. Hugs to you, MF. She's still with you and watching over all three of you. It's so hard, isn't it, to do the right thing for our babies. You did good and Sassy appreciated it. She knew.
