Wildly Wonderful Wednesday

Another beautiful sunrise here on the Texas Gulf Coast. Karen, Carol and I are here at Galveston Island State Park, beach side. Sure is nice beaches out there.

Glad to hear that Liz is S&B homeless today. May all of you have dreams that come true, too.

Will be an exploring day for Karen and Carol and we will get together back here later this afternoon. I am ready for coffee and then off birding.

I hope that everyone else has a beautiful day today. If you travel today, do so safely, if you are camped have a fun day.

Good morning.
We have the makings of a beautiful weather day here as well.
Monday night storms left a lot of trees down across town including taking the top out of one of my hickory trees. I''ve got to get help to remove this one.
I did get back to finish up the post under gtg of Kathleen's visit. Sorry to see her go but she has moved northward toward home with two more visit stops on her route.
I'm still taking it easy trying to kick this bronchitis thing. Not much planned beyond getting Nicky to vet for bath and doing a bit of grocery shopping.
Congrats Liz on the house and to Carolinagal on getting out to camp again.

GOOD MORNING BIRDIE AND ALL.

It sounds as if you girls have a perfect beach campsite wherever you are! I would love to see it in person some day.

Awoke to discover the heartbreaking news that the little boy bear cub, Jason, died yesterday. He has seemed weak and unable to keep up with his mom and sisters, and I guess Lily had to leave him and go find sustenance with the rest of her family so they can survive. Makes me realize how easy it is to give Nature adjectives, even though Nature is neither benevolent nor evil----it just is what it is. But that doesn't mean I have to like what happens, and that I won't cry. It's hard to type through heavy tears that I cannot stop.

It is much cooler and much less humid today after that cooler front passed through last night. I wish it had brought us some rain, but oh well. Molly and I had a great sleep in the screen room last night here at the Orlando house. It was perfect sleeping weather, and lots of tree frogs serenaded us to sleep.

Today I will mix up the Quickcrete cement I bought yesterday to repair the sunken corner of a concrete slab in my driveway. I have never done any cement work, so this should be a treat! Then I will put in more screens over the gutters to keep debris out of them and the downspouts. That's about enough for today, I guess, except for a walk along Shingle Creek with Molly.

I hope that all on the roads will be safe and find new things to explore. Alice should be pedaling her wares around town!!

Off I go to greet the day, even though, for me, it isn't exactly a "wildy wonderful Wednesday"!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good Morning Birdie, Sarah, Kathleen and all who will be checking in later. Birdie, what does "Glad to hear that Liz is S&B homeless today." mean?! It is the S&B that has me puzzled!
It's pretty cool this morning, I turned the heat off and now this weekend the high is supposed to be maybe 50, sure will beat last Saturday's 90 degrees! I really don't like hot weather. I was surprised Soos to read the other day that you were liking the Florida heat, maybe it will take a long time for your bones to warm up for all those years you spent in the cold!
Hope everyone has some fun planned for their day.

BJ, S&B is Sticks and Bricks...Liz is signing off the final papers on her house. She is now officially a full-timer, no longer bound by yard work, pool cleaning and house repair. Yay!!

Not much going on around here so haven't been posting a lot in the morning coffee. Weather's been nice one day, 85 or so and 55 the next. Never know what to expect. Hope was in the hospital with a front window issue, and of course the door issue. I took her to a new place as the shop I've used for the last 25 years has gone to the dogs. So far love the new shop. The window issue which I thought was a huge problem (thank goodness I believe in NOT believing everything someone tells me, and no, the front windshield wasn't gonna land in my lap as I toodled down the freeway at 65mph!!) turned out to be a non-problem, the door issue that they said was an easy fix turned out to be major and then turned around to be minor. Hopefully that problem is solved as I'm tired of climbing in the drivers window when it sticks. She has new wiper blades and a new bracket on the top of the door that was worn out. Turned out to be $115 less than they quoted me. Eat your heart out, Alice!! :D Stopped by my tire guy on the way home, seriously thinking that he was gonna tell me, yeah, your tires are ok for a while. He showed me a couple of spots that were not good. Bummer. So, Hope gets new shoes next week to the tune of $3390.00. Getting her ready for some traveling.

Meeting Evie (Pooker) after a stint at the gym, Rock Bottom class today, and we're gonna look for a new recliner for Hope. I've hated the one in her since I bought her and am finally, after 6 years of complaining, going to do something about it. Sometimes I'm a little slow about getting things done. Next month she goes in for a new floor and hopefully a new entertainment center with a decent tv. No more banging of head when you come in the front door. Of course, going to lunch is on the plan, too. So much for any calories I burn at the gym.

Gotta run, hope everyone has a loverly day with sunshine, lots of birds and/or kayaking, and safe travels. Copy and paste, copy and paste, copy and paste..tired of losing posts!!

Edit: Yup, lost it! But the c&p worked!

Oops lost my post. Thought the forum had crashed, but guess it was just Sharon. And I hadn't copied as I usually do. I see Sharon answered your question about the S&B. I don't feel homeless at all, as I am quite at home in my house on wheels.

Had a nice long walk with friends in the cool air this morning. Now I need to go back to Ocala to straighten out paperwork on the house sale. The lawyer gave me the buyers copies and me hers, so will go make the exchange. At least I got the check!

Other than that it should be a relaxing day. Hope yours is too, or else "wildly wonderful!"

Well, it's Spring Break for me this week and I've been up way too long for a non-school day. But hanging around in bed for any longer just doesn't seem to work for this ever-aging body. Plus, Jed begins slurping on his feet -- his way to tell me it's time to get up. Bless him.

After a delightful weekend in Borrego Springs I've been checking off things on my "To Do" list that have been there for a long time. Yesterday I spent 2 hours at the Apple Store learning more about my MacBook Pro. What a learning curve! But I'm enjoying it more and more every day. Fired up my old Dell yesterday and was amazed at the difference between the 2 units. Looking at the screen resolution alone should make a convert out of people!

Today Belle gets to go to the vet for a blood test. It's been about 6 weeks (wow!) since her radioactive iodine treatment and they want to see if the tumor has been killed. Guess her thyroid levels should be more normal. She appears to have gained a little weight, which is good, and her coat is looking much glossier. So I'm hopeful that all will be well.

I've got to get out into the garden and deadhead the daffodils also. They were beautiful while they lasted, but our roller coaster weather put an abrupt end to them. Now I've got carnations and miniature roses blooming like crazy. The carnations are very fragrant, and I'll cut a bunch to bring them in the house. They're my favorite cut flower -- so hardy and happy!

This weekend a friend and I will head down to Orange County to go to the annual "All-American Pet Expo". It's a HUGE deal, with every kind of pet you can imagine being showcased, along with lots of demonstrations, adoption groups, a cat show, and tons of vendors. Hopefully I won't come home with a bunch of useless stuff. It's lot's of fun and we'll make a day of it. This weekend's supposed to be in the mid 80s, so a hat might be in order as we'll be outside for the demonstrations (dock diving, agility).

I hope everyone has a great day. Spring is definitely here!

We had Spring yesterday. One day of wonderful sunshine and I throughly enjoyed it! Got the car washed (been wks and wks since that's happened), grocery shopped, mowed the backyard, did 3 loads of laundry and walked the dog. All before 2PM! Then I just lazed about in the sun.

Today? Rain & cool weather has returned! :x I feel I'm never gonna know what it's like to wear shorts again.

Sharon, sounds like you are giving your MH a makeover. What fun!

Liz! Woohoo, again! So happy for your new chapter in life. Enjoy every minute of it!

Ok, need to finish my coffee and call and see if Matt can trim Choco's nails today. It's Wacky Wednesday, free nail trim day.

Have a wonderful fun filled day. Especially those on the TX coast!

Good Afternoon all! It's past morning here. Rain, rain and more rain - makes the 50's feel really cold - but not complaining. It's spring. Everything is blooming - when I got here there were no blooms. Now some bushes are getting downright full with blooms. So pretty.

I tried to cheat last night. Peaches won't go potty in our site. It was pouring out and I really didn't want to go for another walk. None of the seasonals on my dead end street are here, so I let her out the door off leash. She sat and stared at me until I got my coat on and came with her. So I got wet again. I do love my winter jacket and hat, though. Very thin and lightweight and waterproof.

After work yesterday I had plans to run to the Shady Maple Grocery as they were having an 8 hour "meat sale". I almost didn't go because of the rain, but decided what the heck - I'm walking in it, I can drive in it. Got ribeyes and pork chops at great prices and picked up some produce. Had 1/2 of one of the ribeyes last night. Can't remember the last time I fixed myself steak. Yummy. I might fix the other 1/2 tonight. The rest of the meat will be frozen in individual portions to come out as I want it. I didn't overdo - but it'll be nice to have this in the freezer. I checked out their deli and picked up some "low sugar" potato salad. Never saw that in a deli before, liked it Next time there I'll check out some of their homemade products. Shady Maple is owned by Menonites (like lots of the local businesses). It started out small and now is a gigantic grocery as well as next door is their gigantic (and wonderful) buffet. I won't eat there often, but will make a few trips there over the summer.

Hope everyone has a great day, wet or dry, warm or cold.

Laura - How was Borrego Springs? Did you get to see the metal sculptures? Will probably go there next time we are going that direction. Huell Houser did a great segment on that area.
Also, sounds like you are really liking your MacBook Pro. I love mine - have had it for about 3 yrs. Did you get the 17"?

Linda, Borrego Springs was beautiful. :) We missed the wildflowers, but some of the cacti were blooming. It was quite windy in the afternoons and downright cold on Saturday until the sun went down & the wind died. But it was cold everywhere in So. California last weekend, so I'm not complaining. My little trailer kept me warm when necessary & I had plenty of jackets. The hike back to Palm Canyon was great -- perfect weather for that, and no snake sightings (too chilly).

I like my MacBook. I got the 13" one, as I don't need the bigger monitor. There are lots of things that I haven't figured out yet but I purchased a "One to One" plan, good for 1 hour of "tutoring" every week for a year. Now if I can just get myself out there for the sessions ... sigh. My biggest issue was how to manage my photos, and yesterday's session helped a lot. I've still got things to learn, and I'm not real fond of the photo editing feature (not enough ability), so I've got to learn how to move between Picasa for editing & iPhoto for storage/managing the pictures. And I need to understand these "windows". I thought that I could have more than one open at a time & haven't figured out how to do that yet. So, for those of you who are more knowledgable in all things Apple, any advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated. :)

I've taken Belle to the vet & she was a good girl. She's very passive when dealing with stressful situations, so the folks at the vet office really like her. I'll have her lab results in the next couple of days. Between her bloodwork & picking up Interceptor and flea stuff for Jed I walked out $378 lighter in the pocketbook ... ugh. But everyone's healthy and that makes it worth it.

Okay, nap time. Gotta love Spring Break! :D

Let us know how Miss Belle's tests came out. Hoping all is well for her. Poor, kitty.

As I am gettng an iPad, I was wondering just how much different the OS is from a MacBook? We might have to have Beth create a special room for "all things Apple".

Was woken up this morning at 9am by a knock on the door. It was the Salvation Army guys to pick up my roommates furniture. She didn't tell me when they were coming so I had to scramble to get dressed and show them to the garage. Now I can use the garage myself until the end of the month or when I get a new roommate. I did get a message this morning from a lady who is very interested in the room and sounds really nice, but we have been playing phone tag all day so far. Hopefully, I can finally talk to her tonight about it. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Woke up with a slight sore throat so went to get some Zicam. That stuff is amazing so I should be all better by tomorrow! I got my new swimsuit but the bottoms were too big so sent them back for a smaller size (apparently my glut exersizes have been working! ).

Soos, I was shocked to read your post about Jason dying! I had to go back and read about it on the website. Poor little guy! I am anxious to find out what the necropsy findings are. He was having trouble the past week keeping up with the rest of the family as they left the den. At least the researchers were with him when he died. It was a tough decision for them to not intervein and try to save him.

I better get things cleaned up around here in case that lady wants to stop by and look at the place tonight. It is too cool and windy today to do anything outside anyways. I stopped by the Lake Elsinore beach earlier today and the wind was really whipping up the waves and it was chilly!

Hope you all have a safe and fun day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Lenora - I do not have an iPad but my mother (age 92) has one and I have worked some on hers. It takes some getting used to even for me and I've always had Apple computers. Like the iPad better each time I use it. Good luck with yours. Looks like the white will be a great color.

Laura, I need to go to the Apple genius to get my iPhoto organized. When I added iLife 11 seemed like it screwed up how my photos (over 8000) were organized - not. You can just keep opening up various applications until you want to close them. I have only edited photos in iPhoto and a little in Shutterfly. Are there other applications that are better??
