Hey Sistahs! I am planning on leaving Gilchrist/High Island TX area on Wednesday morning headed to LA. I had talked about driving the south route and coming into the Abbeville/Lafayette area from the south. But I talked myself out of that. Don't want to drive that lonely road solo. So I'll go up thru Port Arthur and Orange and get on I-10 just outside the LA border. Expect I'll spend Wednesday night at either BJ's or Hebers RV park in Abbeville or I might go to the What's it Agua and Fish RV Park as that looked kind of interesting - it is in St. Martinsville. Any of you ever been to that area...good/bad/indifferent?

Diana you still taking the high road? Be careful and keep an eye out for storms.

Vickie (Yakn1) you take it slow and stop early if you have to. There is an RV park (right on I-10 so it is noisy) at Winnie. It's like the Best Winnie Inn and RV Park and you can overnight at the LA rest area - though I know you don't want to do that.

Sharon (Sprinter) you still leaving the night before and overnighting on the road and picking up a passenger and coming in?

Anyone else coming from this away? Need to keep an eye out for each other....Keep an eye out on the weather and just know the weather will mostly be windy. Maybe it will change and come from the n n-w as it has been s s-e all week. You guys have my phone number so call if you need me.

Probably a good idea to stay away from the coast. There have been wind warnings for the past couple of days and my neighbor said it is bIowing like crazy. I think there is a front coming through on Wednesday so the wind should change and it will be a little cooler. I think it was 89 here in Baton Rouge today. I don't know where BJ's is and Hebert's is a parking lot across the street from Betty's RV Park. The city of Abbeville has a nice campground near town that is in a wooded setting. I haven't stayed at the campgrounds near St Martinville. There's a campground just off I-10 in Duson that use to be a Passport park. It's just a parking lot type behind one of the small casinos. There's a KOA on I-10 in Lafayette but it is expensive to me.

My sister is coming to the GTG and is going to help me move my motorhome to Bute La Rose on Thursday. I may have to chloroform Harold but I got to do what I got to do. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

First stop, Onalaska on Lake Livingston, then to Coushatta the next day.
I want to stay off of I10 as much as possible, it will be a long first day but the rest will be nice.
See ya'll in La!!

Just a reminder, we will require lots of pictures and true stories. I know you'll be having lots of fun, so don't need to remind you about that.

Martha tell your DH that if he doesn't cooperate with you, ALL :o of those WOMEN will be coming to the hospital in shifts and on alternate days  to visit with you and of course him.

Glad to hear your sister is coming! That should be fun for all of us.

Not sure how far down the road I'll get on Wednesday. I should be able to stop and get tires for my car in Port Arthur and still make the Lafayette area.

Sharon don't you go flying past me on Friday!!!!!!!!!!

Vickie you and Carra be careful, just had twister at Lake Livingston last night and that's close to Onalaska.

I'll be headin out 5:00pm sharp from Kerrville! I so need an RV sister fix! lol I'll drive as far as daylight and my tired eyes take me. Then, I'll pick up another of our RV sisters Friday am in Sealy. We'll "sprint" across the rest of the state and be in LA in plenty of time for 3:00pm "Happy Hour"! ;) hahaha!!!

Birdie...We'll be flying low, but would love to catch up with you :) If you'd only get that rig I picked out for you ;) ROFL!!!

Sue and Shirley will be coming up from the Valley from Edinburgh, Karen from Silsbee and Mary Jane will probably already be there! And we have a new sister Darlene who will joining us as well! Actually, they are probably all on their way already. You tell them go, and they go! lol

Look out LA, the Texans are comin! Your state will never be the same! hahaha!!!

Lookin way forward to seeing our LA sisters and Martha's Sister again. And of course...our TX sisters as always :) Til then...

Love,
Sharon

Made it to Lake Livingston in 6 hours, made 3 stops and going slow, not bad!!
The wind was crazy- 30 knots and a cross head wind, "hang on with BOTH hands dummy" (I talk to myself alot!)

We are at Northshore RV park on the north end of the lake ( ya think!) right on the water in a pull thru, very nice.
This is a TACO park, thanks for the heads up Birdie!

Will be of to Coushatta tomorrow - gotta get that fix in!

Okay ladies, I stopped at Frog City RV Park in Duson, LA. Exit 92. I am only about 30 miles out and will mosey in a little after noonish tomorrow I think. I have been trying to get someone to come wash my rig. No luck yet. Got a card from the office here, but no one answers the phone! I did get a pull thru so I would not have to unhook my car and walked over to the casino/truck stop and spent $3 the RV park gave me for the casino and got some catfish...the catfish was really good and that surprised me.

Heading out to the showers here in a bit. Diana, hope you are making your way safely and we get a howdy here soon. Sharon, drive (as you are already on the road GF be safe we pray) and we will see ya tomorrow. (If I had that vehicle I'd be down in the river bottom playing about now you know. Then I'd head for the swamps!)

Vickie be safe and know that the Red Shoes are waiting for you! You may have a NE wind tomorrow.

Hoping all the others are safe, too.

Okay, we started talking, laughing, telling stories, and IDing birds. So I'll tell you that we ID'd birds mostly by sound, but we did have sightings of Red-Bellied Woodpeckper, Cedar Waxwing, Mississippi Kites, Fish Crows, Blue Jay and a beautiful Yellow Warbler. We heard Northern Cardinal, Carolina Wren, White-eyed Vireo, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, and I am sure I am forgetting (me forget?) some. Carolyn, Diana and I from the Women RVers are here - Martha came, parked and went to spend the night with her DH, but Pat (her sister) is in for the night. Karen (with Pepper), Mary Jane, Sue, Shirley, Darlene have flocked in to the camp. This is a gorgeous campground. No I did not take any photos, but will tomorrow.

Well wanted to let you know that the birds are here, both the Pink Flamingos and the other itty bitty flying ones. Hang in there we will be doing photos as we can.
