You know how much I love Port Lavaca! So glad to see those of you there. And I'm so happy to see Carol made it down. That's wonderful. Big hugs to all of you and an especially big one to Carol, please.

Have a glass of wine or margarita on me - I'm with you in spirit.

Well here we are still!!! Coordinates right here in my rig are N 28.54318* and W 96.51819* and we are 3.8' above sea level! :o Now down to the serious stuff. Some of us no longer have our butts. They have been frozen off. That's good and that's bad! Good cuz most of us could lose a few inches and be okay. Bad cuz it is so damp and cold. Both my and Karen's generators are working good. Diana's hasn't be cooperative, but it did real good this morning and since mine is running now I don't know if her's is running. Poor Vicki ain't got no generator so she has to snuggle up in all the warmies. Guess she could borrow a dog from Karen and Carol. Cold front blew through Monday with the wind blowing in excess of 35 mph. When it rained it was a lateral rain. The sand that blowed against you was like being sand blasted. Just really awful. It stopped about 3:30 this morning. But it was pretty cool at about 52 around 6:00 a.m. and is currently a very damp 62. Feels like 50*.

Here is our entertainment out on the ICW (Inter Coastal Waterway).

Okay Karen, get the awning put back up before you go to bed.

What are they looking at?

Oh, just women playing with a kite.

Evening Karen!

Each to her own !

Image

Ohh, lookie! Pink rocks.

Did I say it was cold here? Should have gotten a shot of Diana with her parka on. Couldn't get the camera up and focused because of my coats. Yeah, and someone ask Vicki about the "dog in the fire pit". Tomorrow Diana is going to play golf with the local ladies and Vicki is headed back to San Antonio. :x . Carol is headed back to Houston to get ready for another go around of treatments. I am going birding at Magic Ridge and Karen will probably catch up with the rock painting or sitting out in the cool, cool weather (read that as cold).

Okay, past lights out and ginny's off.

So sorry you are getting cold weather when it was so hot in San Antonio but it sounds like you are having fun anyway. Didn't you say it got cold last year too? Maybe you need to move it to the beginning of May instead of April. Of course, in Texas it might be 100 degrees by then. I tried the coordinates on Google earth and got you located somewhere miles inland so I think I need to find someone who can show me how it is supposed to work using coordinates. Have fun.

Type the following in the Google Maps location bar:

28.54318, -96.51819 (notice the MINUS sign on the longitude...east is positive).

That should work for you! :)

Aaahhh!! Our day began oh, so loverly!!

Pre-dawn...

Image

Some of the residents going out to breakfast! :D

Image

Almost....here it comes

Image

For some of us, Diana, Vicki and Birdie, it is the first peak.

Image

This is so nice to wake up to.

Image

Really great sunrise but bad ISO setting. Maybe Diana got some better ones....i.e. probably she did.

Image

Here she is....in your face kind of sunrise.

Image

Just another shot of the platform. We have lots of those out here in the ICW (inter coastal waterway). Some are gas, some are oil, some are who knows what for.

Image

Absolutely worth getting up for...don't ya think?

Image

Well Tillie is all hooked up. Vicki was able to stay over another night, but had to leave this a.m. We will certainly miss her. Safe travels my friend.

Image

Bye, Vicki see ya in a few and if not see ya in Louisana! YYYEEESSSS!! :o

Image

The End...Catch ya later Tillie...tow safely little friend. :)

Image

What's that? A train on water?.....Well guess again...

Image

Is not a train but a huge collection of water carriers being barged out. No they aren't carrying water. They are carrying something on the water. We can see two barges and there is probably a third on the other side. Let us all pray for no mistakes out there.

Image

More of the same out here....a little windy.

Image

Well Diana went to play golf this morning. Apparently she had a good go at it. She came back with ice. Karen and Carol went into town for some milk. I went down the road to bird and picked up trash on the way down. Got so industrious that I picked up until I ran out of bags, so I came back to the rig and got 4 bags and went and picked up some more trash. A side note: when Vicki and I went picking up trash on the otherside of the road on Monday a man driving by, slowed down, and said "Thank you". What a nice thing. Today while I was going the opposite direction, the same man slowed to a stop and said "Didn't I see you just doing this?" I said, "Not this way. didn't get to it." and he said again "Thank you." What a nice man to do that. Seems like we like to leave the place cleaner than we found it. For us that is about 14 bags cleaner!! Beach and road looks great now - for a day or two.

VickieP We have gotten so sand blasted that we cannot take pics of each other. It would fairly shame the wrinkles off of all who have them. :o :o

Wish you all were here. Sunny with a strong breeze. Take care and more to come later.

Thanks for the update and pics of that beautiful sunrise. And thanks for picking up the trash. It is ashamed people throw their trash out onto the roads.

Thanks for keeping us informed. From those of us that freeze around FL campgrounds we understand that gtg can not be conquered by weather. The company is still top notch! :D :D

Weather permitting, Diana and I will be kayaking tomorrow. We all got a bit wind-burned today. Little red faces sitting around the table tonight. So we are hoping the wind lays down in the morning.

We have all decided that next year the Port Lavaca GTG will be later in the year at least. Beach is nice when it is nice. Awful when it is cold.

Carol got off this afternoon and we will see her next Tuesday at Galveston Island State park.

Guess we will try some photos in the water tomorrow.
