Early Spring in Ohio with Hersch

Well that medium Stuart dog got all prettied and groomed up yesterday and then his "girls" came over to pick him up. He had his stuff by the door and was lording it over the rest of us "unimportant" dogs. He just about went through the door when he realized who was here to pick him up. The two older girls came. He danced out to the van and jumped in. He then climbed onto the driver's seat and just grinned.....like he had been waiting for them to come for months now. Stuart's other family texted us later to let us know that it took all of 2 minutes for him to check everything in the house out and he was now asleep next to the mother's chair. :D That boy sure has moves.

But then the party began. I decided that Remi and I should celebrate with a trip to Ceasar's Creek Park, so I got the GHL to get her keys and off we went. Even the Remi dog got to run off leash for awhile. Look the grass is starting to turn green!

Image

We also spent sometime just sniffing around.

Come on an follow me through the woods. The leaves aren't out yet but it is 70 degrees and smells like earth and spring.

Image

Isn't the trail nice. Come on Remi you don't have to walk behind the GHL all the time.

Image

See I told you you would like it, Remi.

Me and my shadow.....

Sometimes we looked down.

And sometimes we just gazed up at the blue blue sky.......

This one is for Sharon and Other bikers......you need to click on for the video and you can hear the bikes warming up in the parking lot below....it was definitely fine riding weather.....

Image

After the romp in the woods we headed across to the lake and followed the trail down to the cove and the creek. I saw the kayaker but was hoping that the GHL didn't see it. I would much rather be hiking than kayaking but she seems to like that stuff so I guess the season is just about here to start sharing her time with the kayak.

I know nothing about the red water logged creature in this photo....(Remi made me do it.)

Looking up the creek....

Looking down the creek towards the lake.

Just looking down into the water.......

Well thats all for our Sunday adventures but Remi and I have plans on getting the GHL out again real soon. She does seem pretty wiped out after being gone all day at that place called "work" but we will figure something out. And Remi is getting braver and braver just don't ask him to go in the water..... :)

Dear Herschel,

You ALWAYS have my rapt attention from your very first, to your very last, word.
I still love you. I always will, even though mine is destined to be an unrequited love.
Maybe we'll meet again sometime.

Love,
Abby

Hey Hersh!

I think you ought to talk your GHL into bringing you and that little grey mop out here so you can try some REAL water -- the Pacific Ocean! We'd have the time of our lives running up and down the beach!

Herschel, I'm so glad you and Remi got a chance to drag the GHL out of the house today. Looks like everybody had a great time, I would have loved it if you would have gotten a pic of the GHL rolling in the water with you, but I guess Remi's too shy to ask to borrow the camera.

What a great day for a hike in the woods and a swim in the creek. Bet you didn't have to do much convincing to get the GHL out there. Thanks for taking all those pics. Loved the one of you and your shadow.

Herschel , what a nice way to spend such a nice day. Wasn't the water cold? I wish I had a nice little friend like Remi to sniff with . Don't let Remi see, what Jed, out west said about him "Little grey mop" indeed. He just hasn't met Remi. What were the magic words you said to your GHL to get her to take you out like that? Please let me know :(
I'm glad you got to go on such a nice walk, thank you for seeing that we had pictures so we could enjoy too.

Please tell Abby she really just doesn't have a chance, that I'm your favorite

Herschel.....great photos of your day in the park.....Mom & Dad are letting off leash here and I'm loving it, but have to stay within the boundaries of the yard which is okay with me....the folks here have grandkids who love to play and feed me cookies, so guess I'll be putting on a pound or 2.... But am doing alot of running, so maybe not... ;) Yes, you've got to get the GHL out more....and tell Remi I'm glad he's getting braver. Thanks for sharing your special day...

Great pictures, Herschel! And I can't believe how brave that litle Remi is getting!

I need to tell you that I had my first, EVER, voluntary water experience the other day when my boss/mother came to a spot on our trail that was flooded after our big storms of last week. She was wearing sandals, so off she went across this water without so much as a pause, with me on my leash. Before I even had a chance to realize what was happening, and that I was actually in water, my feet lost touch with the sandy bottom, and I think I must have been doing what she called 'swimming'! Whew! And it wasn't even bad! So, when Remi and I meet again, we can brag about our bravery!

Hershel, so glad you got to drag the GHL out for a hike and swim. Love the pic of you sprawled out. What an AAAHHHH moment. Remi, you are sure getting braver and braver. Keep it up, I'm sure you will enjoy yourself so much more. I do have to say that those bikes have nothing on Cooper's snoring. I had to turn up the volume on the video just to hear the bikes. Cooper definitely puts Harley revving to shame.  Thanks for sharing your outing. Linda

What a happy day you all had, Stuart off to his vacation with the girls and a big walk in the woods. Loved the pictures and the sound of the Harley's revving up, ahh is there any sound quite like that muffled rumble!

Oh what a wonderful outing and great news about Remi.
My human got me a nice new harness like the one Roe has so I can learn to walk on leash without too much pulling. However I haven't figured out how I'm supposed to learn since she hasn't even taken me for a walk yet. Actually she did put he harness on me and march me around PetSmart for a few minutes. Can't say I'm all that impressed with it so far. Maybe you could come visit and show her how to use it and get me out of the house more.
