Newbie in Colorado

Hi Everyone! I've been a lurker on a few RV sites for a couple of months now, but finally picked out my travel trailer recently and I sign the papers today! I'm getting a 2010 Jayco Jay Feather 19BH to tow with my '04 V8 4Runner Ltd. I think I've got it all figured out as far as hitch (equal-i-zer w/sc), brake control (prodigy 2) and a power tongue jack. I'll be picking up the Rhino hose from Camping World, and most of my other valves, hoses, extensions, etc... at WallyWorld. Still nervous and excited at the same time. I'm sure I'll be asking some questions on the boards, and hopefully I'll get to know some of you all either that way or out at the campgrounds. Glad to find a forum dedicated to women travellers!!
Now...if we could just get the temps to stay above freezing here in Colorado, I could de-winterize my new rig and go camping!!!

How exciting, Shnz! Can't wait until you can get yourself on the road and meantime, hope you can share pictures of your rig, etc. We are noisy and do live vicariously through each others rigs and travels. Even though I'm full-time, I anxiously await all the posts from others and their travels. It whets my appetite to get back to places I've been before, and to make sure I add on other places

Lived 80% of my life in Colorado until 10 years ago when I moved to Arizona.
The desert isn't my favorite place so I'm sure looking forward to pictures from
my old stomping grounds. Do you have pets too? Most of us do, and we love to
see pics of the pets too and of course the rig. Spring is right around the corner
so hang in there and before you know it you'll be able to dewinterize. Course
you know the easiest way to dewinterize is to drive south..

I had to take a look at your trailer before greeting you because I thought it might be like mine and it is! You'll love it, especially if you travel solo. There's room for more people, but it's just right for one and maybe a furry friend.

Warmer weather will be here before you know it & you'll be able to explore the beautiful country you live in. And maybe you'll even venture out of Colorado & come west.

Thanks for the warm welcome!! Yes, i know, heading south would definitely warm things up. Unfortunately I'm still chained to a regular job (for now), so I can't just run away for a month or two (or three, or four...). I am looking forward to the first warm(ish) weekend in the near future, so I can take the trailer out and stretch her legs.

So, question #1 for the forum...how the heck do you add a photo to your profile? I went to the UCP and the avatar section, but when I tried to link to my flickr image, it said invalid URL? I just used the link that Flickr gives out, and in the past it's not been a problem. Is there a different way to do this? I was hoping to post an image of my new TT, and maybe one of my pups and I.

More about me and what I'm looking to do, now that I have my first TT... I'm 42, single, taking care of mom since my father passed. No children, so really no reason to be tied down when mom is no longer with me. The plan is that I will move to full-timing at some point in the future. I was lucky, due to a past position within my company, I travelled quite a bit through the US and got to see many sites along the way. However, this just gave me more of a yearning to see and do more. I've touched all lower 48 states, and hoping to check Alaska off that list soon as well. Visited both "coasts" of Canada (and even lived in Toronto for awhile), but there's alot of "middle" area I'm still wanting to explore. I grew up in Florida, and moved here to Colorado almost 8 years ago (from Toronto)...so I've had a taste of high humidity and no humidity. Think I prefer the latter now....although I miss large bodies of water to paddle on with the kayak.

Anyway, enough about me for now... I need to get back to the process of gathering things together for my TT. I pick her up on Friday, and want to have everything ready.

Welcome to the the Forum. Ava is correct, dewinterize = drive way farther south. Congratulations on your new rig. You will love pulling it with your 4Runner. That is a sweet truck and you will still get good gas mileage when pulling, I'll bet. So here is hoping that you can get out on the road soon. Will you be a part-time, full-timer or weekender?

Took the maiden voyage this weekend to Cherry Creek State Park (across the street from my neighborhood, lol). Good thing I didn't go too far, turns out the water heater tank has leaks at the top and bottom connections for the by-pass. Calling the dealer this morning to arrange for repairs.
Anyway, everything else worked great and I still love the trailer!! New pic of my TV/TT on my signature now.

Good idea to stay close during your shakedown cruise. So nice if there's a problem discovered as you had, that it's not far to go to get it fixed, and no big trip ruined by it. Glad all else went well. I like your signature pic.
