My Summer Itinerary

I am a visual person too, Mitch, so I loved the map you did. Remind me to send you my itinerary before the trip to PA this summer. No, not the gtg. The Goddess and I are meeting up with some geocaching friends at Chapman State Park which is on the other side of the state. Have been looking at different routes to get there. Poor Mitch sounds lonely. Perhaps the goddess and I should make a run over to west Tennessee and cheer her up. Next weekend's weather looks nice.

PA? Will you be able to visit? Or come to either PA gtg???

We will be at Chapman State Park which is more on the Pittsburgh side of the state. We are just laying out our route up right now, but we are thinking that we will set a course that brings us back down through Virginia which I think we could route through your area. Haven't really seen much of PA so we might just journey across the state. Will keep you posted.

Well we are hitting the road in mid May and plan on going to be gone for 3 months. Going to see our daughter in Washington by way of the Grand Canyon, London Bridge, Sequoias, Yosemite, Redwoods, Oregon Coast, Crater Lake, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainier, Daughter's place in Bonney Lake. When we leave we are going by way of Glacier, Yellowstone, the Tetons, down through Colorado, across Kansas to Missouri to visit with son, then down through Arkansas and back home to LA. It will be around 5600 to 5800 miles roundtrip.
Hubby and I have never been to these sites in the US and thought we would kill two birds with one stone. So we will be coming to California and Washington
If we are close to any of you, would love to meet up. Sharon, will we be close because I know you live in the southern part of California, and when we are heading for the Sequoias we are close down there.

A little bit intimidated by the rip itself. We haven't ever taken on something this big or long before, but are planning to take our time, travel no more than 300 to325 miles a day. Stay 2-5 days depending on the area we are in, before starting out again. Anyone with info about things to see or do along our trip, PM me or put it on the forum. We would appreciate any info you can give us.

I sometimes do longer days - but have discovered I'm much happier traveling long distances at 200 or so miles a day. Can you tell I just don't rush much anymore? But 300 - 325 is doable, especially if you don't want to stop to see things along the way - which is what gets me.

I'm with you, Beth. Where I work in Nevada is only 500 miles from home. My first stop is always Boomtown in Verdi, NV. After traveling I80 over the summit. it is time to stop. It's only about 100 miles. Then my next stop is Winnemucca, NV, then finally the next day I make it to Elko and my home base for the summer.

On my last long trip I think the most I traveled in one day was about 200 miles. Stop and smell the roses.
