TUESDAY AFTER THE RAIN

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

TUESDAY AFTER THE RAIN

Postby Nasoosie » Tue Mar 29, 2011 6:20 am

GOOD MORNING ALL!

The rain has stopped for a while, and the tree frogs are out serenading me along the pond! It really sounds like a home-style spring now, although these aren't the spring peeper tree frogs we have at home much later on. I can't wait for the sunrise to see how much higher the pond might be today after yesterday's constant rain. Even the birds seem to be loving the moisture all around.

Today I will think about painting my bookshelf I bought the other day at the neighbor's yard sale, and the smaller one I got for a buck the week before at another yard sale. I have satin white paint here already, but I'm thinking I might like some color in here.

Maybe I will look for a campground to go for a visit before I have to head back north in a month, or so. I can't believe winter is over, as it seemed to never arrive this year.

I hope you all will have a fun day doing whatever you like the best, and that, no matter what the weather might bring, you can find some good time outside. My home weather task bar thermometer is reading 19 above zero this morning, so that is a definite warming trend compared to last week. I hope to be able to have the heating fuel company deliver another batch of kerosene before the driveway bottoms out back there----will have to check with them to see if that's possible.

Coffee time, and I did take my bone-repairing fossamax this morning for the first time in many months. Shame on me. Happy Tuesday everyone!

Good Morning Soos and all who follow,

A beautiful sunny morning here at the 45th again today. Will be this way the rest of the week, with gradual temperature rises each day. So will be outside puttering around on these upcoming afternoons. Not doing a lot, but will get into something just to be outside. Soos, your 19 back at home actually beat out my 10 degreess here this mornng :)

Maybe with some luck, I can open the TT today and let it air out a bit and also do and do some remeasuring, put the stove top cover back in etc. Won't uncover it for awhile yet. Not going to dewinterize till the night time temps stay above freezing, so no use bothering to take the cover off right away. We will still see some rain/snow or even some light snow before April is over and it's all nice and washed and clean under that cover as well.

Stopped by work yesterday to see what's new. New boss will be down here eventually. He has some stuff to get squared away where he is at, before he leaves. Will probably be here before we start back at the end of next month. My two maintenance crew buddies and I will be putting the plumbing back together in the buildings and getting two of them ready to open the week we start back. So we will be in for some fun. Sometimes getting some of those parts to go back like they should can be a bit of a challenge and of course we will get wet too as water doesn't always go where we plan  Last year when we turned the water on to the park store, a valve was accidently left open and promptly flooded the store floor  . So it was get out the mops and buckets and then give the lead ranger a bawling out cause she said she had all the pipes together and other than doing a few other things, it was all set  She thought she had closed off that valve  . But we have all worked togethr long enough that we can give each other a friendly bantering and get a good laugh.

So I think for this morning I am going to sit down a bit and organize that pile of camping literature and my state park maps and so forth. Although I can do a lot of this on line and use the "Ultimate Camping Log" if I want, I do like to have that stuff in a notebook too. Sometimes you get talking to people and they ask about some campground and it's nice to have the book right there. I like the map handy when I make reservations, so I can just look and see what campsite I like as one of my favorites before I reserve. All MIchigan State Parks have the park maps on their reservation page, along with the dates they are open etc. So it's easy to reserve. But I have my favorites in the differnt parks I go to.

I made 5 egg cartons full of sawdust and wax yesterday, so I have enough firestarters for the season and more. Will have some for if I head south as well. Have to check and see if the seasonal stay campground allow campfires at their sites or if they just have one central location.

So have a great day all no matter what you are doing. Those heading out on the road, drive safe and enjoy. Soos have fun painting your bookshelf, unless the pool wins out

After the rain in McIntosh
Image

Good morning all. Still cloudy here, and more rain expected this week. Hopefully we'll get enough to bring the water level up in the canal...enough to take the kayak out.

I had another nice gtg last evening with Kathleen, Molly and Angela...a sort of pot-luck at Molly's rig. A lot of laughs, but forgot to take a picture. Angela has just joined the forum and will post an intro soon. Still working on Molly. Nice people.

Roe and I did manage a nice walk yesterday, following a road out of town into horse-farm country. Got back just before the rains came. Hopefully we can do that again this morning.

Wishing all a fun and productive day!

Good Morning. YAWN.

Early day for me - up at 5am and to work at 5:30. Spring Break and staff is taking time off this week. So guess who gets to open?

Exciting night in the RV. LP alarm went off as usual, about midnight. Moments later we hear a loud thump onto the roof of the RV and then sounds of something moving all over the roof. We live on the edge of BLM land, so we have ALL kinds of critters, including bear and mountain lions. So Randy gets up and looks out a window and I lay in bed trying hard to just go back to sleep cuz I have to be up at 5am. Then the ruckus outside gets louder and it feels like something is pushing on the outside of the RV. I look up and through the shades above the bed I see the outside motion activated light has come on and see a shadow at the corner of the RV right by my head and something is pushing against the RV, rocking it at that corner. I call to Randy that I think it must be a bear. Seconds later the RV door swings open.... it's Randy. Sigh. He snuck out and was trying to spook whatever was on the roof, which turned out to be our cat. By this time, my adrenaline is going. ugh. and I have to pee. Which requires that I go outside to the house. Which I am not willing to do. So I lay there for 5 hours, suffering. At 5am, alarm goes off. I sit up to get ready to go.... still dark out.... and motion activated light kicks on outside. Great. Randy says he'll go out with me. What a good man. He walked me into the house and waited while I got ready to go and then walked me to the truck. Of course, then he got to go back to bed, while I went to WORK.

I have lived on this property 9 years and still hate going outside in the dark.

Anyway - on the bright side - have a meeting with prospective buyer this morning. He has raised a down payment and is now in due diligence mode. Hopefully that means final offer/deal soon.

Love a nap today, but not gonna happen. Perhaps a dip in the hot tub this afternoon will suffice.

Enjoy the day!

p.s. We get sunshine today! woooooohoooooo!

Good Morning from not so sunny Florida... but the rain was needed and still is needed... the little we got has greened up the grass and made the birds very happy... more rain forecasted for the rest of the week... hopefully it will be nice on Sat so I can button up and be ready to pull out on Sunday morning...
It is still burrrrrr cold in the north land so I will take my sweet time getting home...
that would be a bit unsettling in the night Kim... but worse for me would be not having a place to go pee...
My friend Jere is going to be here today so I sill fix split pea soup and corn bread... also I will fix something to go to the last pot luck I can attend here at the park... there will not be many people as the park is getting empty...
Last night with three friends was so nice... Molly, Angela and Liz... yes I forgot my camera also...
I trust you will each have a great day...

Good morning Soos, dpf, Sue, Liz, Kim, Kathleen and all who follow!

Some of us are preparing for getting our rigs ready for the first outting of the year while others are talking about heading home. I'm one of the ones preparing for heading out, which will be this coming weekend. Yesterday I bought a toaster oven and put it in place on the kitchen counter. I'm wondering how often I'll use it and if it doesn't get used and is just using up precious counter space, it may end up on a shelf in the utility room in the house. I have to admit I haven't given the oven in the motorhome much of a chance to see if I like using it or not but have read about uneven cooking and burning. I really need to test it and see for myself how it differs from the oven in the house.

Yesterday a photographer came to the work place to take a group shot of all the employees standing in front of a company truck. The picture and article will be in this Sunday's local paper in celebration of the business's 50th anniversary.

Today is still quite chilly with temperatures topping off in the low 50's. We have rain moving in tomorrow and Thursday and could even see snowflakes mixed in. I am so ready for warmer temperatures.

Take care and have a great day everyone.

Clouds this morning, busy day ahead but a fun one. Yesterday we took Winnie for the Cushings test and had to leave her for a couple of hours, now we are waiting as they had to send it out and won't get results until this afternoon or tomorrow. I was up with her during the night, changing papers and giving her a snack, she said our menu of pumpkin and green beans last night was the best yet. She is hungry all the time yet has lost a little weight. I hope they can diagnose what ever she has soon!
DH's iPad arrived yesterday and I got it all set up, well pretty much it is really cool but not so sure yet if I want one, the resolution is amazing and I want to try the face to face feature. Technology is just going too fast to keep up with but it is fun trying.
Off to start the day, I have a massage this afternoon then seeing a friend who is here visiting from FL :D

Good Morning
Cannot believe we are in for yet another long rainy day here in what should be the sunny south. Soos, loved you description of the thunderstorm yesterday. Now just add some hail and extend the time to a full week and you'll have an idea of our weather. Poor Nicky has been in hiding big time as he does not like thunder and we have had the kind that rattles the windows. We've actually got a brief break in the storm part for the moment, but forecast to fire back up this evening and become severe again overnight with 1 to 2 inches of rain per day over next 4 days. I keep going back to the sunrise photos Liz posted the other day to remind myself that the sun is still out there and will eventually come back here. It will be Saturday before we see sunshine here if forecast is correct. Will warm back up for the weekend too. Looking forward to that for sure.
Have a load of clothes in dryer and bills to pay today, a dull life here lately. Have a couple of errands that need to be done but not sure if I will venture out as I am noy fond of driving in the rain..
It is exciting to read about all of you getting ready to go or already on the move. So many new rigs too and learning adventures.
I need to get moving at least a little around here before the rain gets heavier.
Hope you have something fun in your day.

Since I decided to change the color of my iPad (decided on white instead of black as black shows the fingerprints more), it put the delivery date back until Apr 18th :x When I get it we'll have to try the Face to Face feature! So far I've gotten all the "extras" I've ordered for it, just need the actual iPad now.

Back to rain here again today. Hoping to reach the 60s by Thurs. We'll see. Had a wonderful day with my friend, Jeannette, yesterday. Lunch, errands and walked our dogs at the state park. She will be her for the week, then needs to head back to Gilroy, CA. She's awaiting a workamp job at the Grand Canyon bookstore.

Wishing everyone a happy day!

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!! (whew, 11:56am so i'm in time)

Started out reading the coffee posts but then looked at the time and I just had to get this started before noon!!!!

Nothing going on here, just same old same old. ~sigh~ I don't know how I will handle all this excitement.... Gonna do some house cleaning today. Have got to call the managers of the storage place we use and see about getting the owners truck moved out from in front of the door to our little room. I can get to the room but can't get the truck up to the door. Grrrrrrrr, idiot has had it parked there going on 2 months now that I know of.

Weather is gonna be great again today. I'm loving it. All to soon I will be gripping about the heat. We are soooooo looking forward to going back to work in May. I'm about ready to pull my hair out from boredom.

Ok, gonna go read and catch up. Whatever the day may bring your way? I hope it's just what you needed and enjoy it to the max! Be safe ya'll.

Love to all

Just had to comment on the iPad. Mine should be here next week. I got the white one. New toy! Well, I'm hoping it'll "replace" my laptop.

Still cold here in MD in my humble opinion. We had a tease of Spring and then this. Can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can get outside again and get rose bushes moved and the beds ready for mulch. Would rather be outside than in (all my life).

Trying to figure out why my house batteries are dead again. I had new ones put in in the fall and an echo charger installed (to keep the coach batteries charged during the winter). I have the rv plugged into 30 amps at the house and guess it must have blown the breaker or GFI during one of the heavy rains we had. Anyway, ran up the generator and am getting a fault on the inverter. So, today I think I'll just let the gennie run for a while and see if that cures the problem. If not, my mechanic will be hearing from me. I think he probably cringes when I call (but loves the $$). He's a good honest mechanic, so I really appreciate him. And he makes house calls too!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
