HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

Postby Colliemom » Thu Mar 17, 2011 6:33 am

Good Morning All, Colliemom here,

A Very Happy St. Patrick's Day to you. Today is the "wearin' of the green". And drinking green beer for those of you who do, eating corned beef and cabbage, etc. etc. Lots of eat, drink and be merry and probably a lot of "oh, my aching head" in the morning tomorrow too  Just in time to get up and head into work.

41 degrees here at the 45th this mornng at 6 a.m. Warmest morning it has been since last fall. Rain moving in later this evening and sme fog around today from the melting snow. At the moment I am having a muffin and a glass of hot tea.

The crisis in Japan continues to escalate. People in Toyko are kind of non existant right now, staying inside and watchng to see what is going to happen. The nuclear reactor problem seems to be getting worse and the news is filled with all kinds of questions about the Japanese government and their part in overseeing this mess, the private company who actually is, and the fact that they may have waited to long to ask for help. My heart goes out to those workers who are in the forefront of it, trying to stop the ever growing crisis. Most of them are volulnteers for that mission and in some cases it's literally a sucidie mission as Anderson Cooper put in last night. Mostly older workers who may get radiation sickness and even cancer and die, but are sparing their younger counterparts who have many years ahead of them. The world's eyes are on this. And the every growing unrest, civil war in Libya, etc. on the other end of the spectrum. Seems the whole world is turned upside down at the moment.

As for my little world here, I took the girls and we went for a ride yesterday up to Aloha State Park, one of my favorite camping places. Still snowed in of course, but we were able to walk around the Day Use area a bit. It was kind of a get out of the house type thing for a bit. Now some might wonder why I make these trips like this, just going to no place in particular and rolling up miles on my truck, not to mention spending money on gas and so forth. It's my form of recreation. My parents were always going for rides when I was growng up. We enjoyed seeing the countryside, having a picnic once in awhile or stoping for a bite to eat. My dad loved to drive and even up until he passed away, we went someplace at least once a week, just for the heck of it. Always exploring. Some days we could put 300 miles on before we got home. Now I am alone and I have that restless spirit they had too. I don't drink, smoke, go to movies, go to the casinos, or other things that a lot of people do. Don't spend money on a lot of electronic stuff, just my two computers. Eat out maybe once a week. I don't have any "play toys" per say. Used to have kayaks and canoes. Actually not doing much of anythlng right now. So those rides are my recreation, my "play" time. I enjoy the driving, the scenery, stopping at lakes, river, parks etc. and letting the girls explore. It's relaxing for me, and it gets me out of the house for awhile. Being alone day in and day out, being at home day in and day out can get old after awhile. I guess you might say that it's my "full time RVing" and I'm out sightseeing, except my RV is my house and I return to my "campsite" each day. :) Once I get back to work and camping season starts, then things start getting busy.

So this morning I am off to Gaylord again. Bank to get some green as my UIA check is here. Then run out to the vet's office and pick up another refill of meds for Sassy. The vet's office is about 4 mles east of town. Then out to one of the three grocery stores here, to pick up a few things and this store is about 4 miles west of town. Sos I get a "ride" this morning again. One can put some miles on just doing errands up in ths neck of the woods. Need to make a stop at an electrical lighting shop to see if they do lamp repair or know of somebody who does as the on/off switch on my one lamp has quit working. The lamp is in great shape and I don't want to part with it. It's not that old. Always was kind of hard to turn. May stop back at Walmart and pick up some dry dog food unless Meijers has it while I am out there. Last time they didn't.

Then will come home here and get to work on my stove top project. Want to get that done and into the TT before long. Got a couple of other ideas I want to do too, but will see if I have time. Probably should. Yesterday I started taking some of the burlap off my shrubs out front. Now they have the light of day. The threat of those harsh winter winds of mid winter is over. Snow won't hurt them, just wind burn. Am thinking of sending my lawn tractor up to have it checked over and readied for mowing season in a bit here. Gonna go get the stove I have had my eye on too as there is going to be some specials on at Home Depot starting today. Next week I have appst. at least three days, well one is for Sassy to go to groomers. And my neighbor just informed me yesterday that she is doing yet another garage sale the first part of next month to clear out some more stuff, so time to go through what else I want to clear out as well. So things are starting to get busy.

So daylight is breaking here. Time to get with it. Have a great day all.

Good morning from foggy FLorida.

I survived, barely  , 3 days with gs, and have plans to go camping for the next 3 days, so all is well in my world. Not sure yet, waiting to hear, if my sailing trip is on or off for next week. I'm hoping it's on, 'cause dd hinted she might need a babysitter again next week. :o I'd like to firm up a good excuse why I can't be counted on for that. Shame on me.

After that, I'm moving away from my house whether we've had a closing or not, and on to a cg for the month of April. Getting serious "hitch-itch" now.

I pray all those of you who are ailing are feeling better, or if not, are planning a trip to the dr. No sense enduring prolonged suffering with that stuff.

Wishing you fair weather for whatever is your adventure of the day !

Good morning Sue, Liz & all who follow!

Sue, I don't blame you one bit for taking the scenic drives you do. If that's the only thing you splurge on, you deserve to do something like that.

Liz, I hope you get to go sailing next week. If not, find something else to do.

It's sunny today in MD and temperatures will be spring like and in the 60's. Tomorrow we're going to be about 10 degrees warmer and the rest of the weekend will be nice as well. I hope to be spending time outside in our gazebo getting it ready for summer. We have a large table with 6 chairs and a wicker set out there so everything will need to be taken out and rinsed off. The floor will need a good sweeping and vacuuming and then everything will need to be put back inside.

We have a flat roof on our garage and we're going to have a new tin roof put on to match the roof of the house. The framing is supposed to start this weekend and once the tin comes in, it'll just be a matter of days to finish it. It'll be nice to get that out of the way.

I'll be spending the evening and tonight at my parents house since my sister from Florida is leaving today. Dad has an appointment tomorrow with his doctor so I will take him to that since he isn't driving yet. There will probably be a few more stops as well, perhaps at the pharmacy and grocery store. Then I will take them back home and return to my house and try to get some yard work done while the weather is so nice.

Enjoy your day wherever you are!

GOOD MORNING ALL!

And Happy St. Patrick's Day, as well.

Sue, you have been one busy girl lately! I LOVE your RV sign----great job!

Liz...is this the grandson who threw oranges into the neighbor's yard? If so, you deserve to RUN to a campground! Maybe, when I get my truck topper decked out for primitive camping, I will look up a spot near you to spend a few days.

Irmi, good news that your dad is up and about, and I hope he will be able to dive soon. Your weather is sounding good at last!

The clubhouse was packed last night as a result of the free pizza and beer and soda and dessert (yummy green mint ice cream between layers of chocolate cookies!) and it was nice to see such a healthy turnout. I rode my bike there so I could indulge in a couple of beers! Most of the inhabitants of our wonderful community here now are younger people, although a few of us 'oldsters' are still alive and kicking. All in all, it seems to be a great group. I got horrific news that the state wants to make my favorite hiking trail next to Shingle Creek into a bike trail, eventually to connect to others from Georgia to Miami, I guess. That beautiful old-time native forest might become another development, of sorts. I suspect they might wish to make part of that great tract a biking campground as well, for those needing a place to stop for the night. They are having a meeting about that a week from yesterday at a neighboring clubhouse, and I will surely attend that to see what the plans are. Civilization is encroaching all around me, and I guess it can't be stopped. That is one reason why my property in the Adirondacks will never be sold off to anyone in my lifetime, and my kids all feel the same way, thank heavens. When taxes become too much for them to pay, there will be some way to make use of parts of the acres to bring in some money, perhaps from an outdoor teaching environment, or a primitive campground for families, or something. It could be a producing Christmas tree farm with some work, too. Seeing all this development down here convinces me even more how lucky my family is to own such a large chunk within the Adirondack Park. We won't allow civilization to eat us up back there as they are doing here in Florida.

Today will be another day to work on my truck topper window shades---I did one yesterday to test it out in the hot sun and see if it will hold and not melt down into the bed----go for more walks, ride my bike and explore where that other clubhouse is, and spend some quality pool time. My closest neighbor on one side is having her baby today, if she didn't have it last night yet. I will also look for a baby present for them. I need to ask her parents who are here now whether it's a boy or a girl, as I can't remember what they told me!

Perhaps, when I get my truck camper in shape, I will take it for a couple of camping experiences in some state campgrounds. I need to get some sort of good over-the-air-antenna for my baby 12 volt TV for my trips in it, too. And a doughnut collar to go between the truck slider window to the cab and the window in the topper.

Have a nice day, everyone!

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!!

Holy smokes I'm up early! Didn't go to bed until about 12:20am so only got about 5hrs of sleep. But whatever I was dreaming about (nightmare more like) sure brought me sitting straight up in bed and wide awake. I don't have the slightest clue what the heck it was? Don't even remember the tiniest snippet of it. Just know it was enough to ruin the thought of going back to bed!

The worse thing about getting up this early in the morning is that there sure ain't much going on around here. Which can be nice tho cause it's quiet. But this morning my abrupt awakening made "me" inclined to be clumsy and noisy. Woke Kelly up when I knocked over a cup with a butter knife on it. Fell over and the knife clunked on the stove top and then hit the floor! Kelly was not impressed at all with my attempts to be as quiet as a mouse! :x  :x

Temp this morning outside my door read 49f, so Shade and I spent almost an hour sitting outside. This served the duel purpose of allowing Kelly to go back to sleep which is lots safer for my health and well being. ;) Ahhhhhhhh, Spring, I'm loving it. This weekend is suppose to remain in the mid 60's during the day and in the mid to upper 30's at night. So the nice temp was a bonus this morning seeing as how I was up and awake so early!! :D

The tires for the TT have come in. Crazy delivery tho? Got one tire on Tuesday...? Then the other 4 arrived yesterday. Go figure! But they are looking good. Laughing at myself here cause I am so excited about tires! Tires are desperately needed but I can sure think of other things I'd rather get this excited over!! Now I will need to get the wheels off the TT and down to the tire shop to have the new ones mounted and balanced. These new tires are a lot 'taller' than the old ones so this TT will be sitting higher. Will be nice tho having that extra ground clearance! Won't have to worry so much about scrapping and dragging that bumper going out the driveway here when we leave. And for sure we wont have to worry much about another blow out either!! WOOHOO

Bathroom cleaning is going good. We are getting a lot more over nighters now that the migration is on. Mentioned to Brent the other day that toilet paper needed to be ordered, so will have to check with him today to see if he has done that yet or not. The men here are about to drive me over the brink on my temper. Never ever seems to fail that in the middle of cleaning the men's room that one of them want to come in! And especially as soon as I get done mopping the floor!!! :x I swear one guy in particular seems to make a habit of it! I threatened him Tuesday. Told him if he put one dirty foot on my wet floor he was gonna die!!!! His eyes popped and he said he'd wait and come back later! OMG!!! He has a nice 5'er and I know that the blasted thing has a bathroom in it! Sheesh!!! Really ticks me off tho, put up the "Closed for Cleaning" sign and the suckers will take it down and walk right it!!! Was in the women's bathroom when I heard the toilet flush in the men's. ???? I went over and who ever it was, was already gone. I checked for the sign and found it tossed under the sinks at the one end of the building. And no one in sight! I'm figuring it was the guy with habit of coming while we are cleaning.

Pretty soon I will be putting my corned beef and carrots in the crockpot! OH YUM! Have so been looking forward to this meal!

OK, enough restroom woes! Gonna go check up and catch up on what ya'll have been doing! Hope everyone has a fantastic day doing whatever it is you've planned. Be safe everybody!

Love to all

Good Morning

Looks like it is going to be a good day, it's already 75 and sunny. My son is checking crawfish traps and I bet he didn't put any sun screen on. I had to dig around to find something green to wear. A friend insisted on giving my DH a bag of yellow corn grits from a mill between here and Baton Rouge. I cooked a pot this morning and they are really good. A cousin use to bring us corn meal that I liked. I like bread with texture but my DH likes Jiffy.

Need to clean my motor home in case I go camping with my sister this weekend but my son wants me to look at cars with him. I am dizzy from looking at cars on the internet. I think he has it narrowed down to either Ford or Honda. He has had a Honda for 9 years and it has been a good car. I am just wondering what all the mess in Japan is going to do to the Honda brand. We have 2 Ford trucks, a Ford van and my motor home is a Ford so we like Fords too.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all...I would like to compliment you industrious girls but won't call each by name as this computer keeps crashing on me (still waiting for my son's best friend and a whiz) but I especially want to encourage Ava to think about getting some tests run (if you have, sorry I missed it). You should be getting well . My special thoughts to you and all who are still trying to shake loose the winter bugs.

Sue, there are lamp repair kits available. It's really simple to replace the inner workings of a lamp and should be under $10.00 for the complete kit. You could also find just the parts you need. I've done 3 lamps. Walmart should have them also. Just a thought. Linda
