GOOD MORNING KATHLEEN, AND ALL!

It sounds as if your red hat affair was fun! It will get much warmer again today, which will feel good again.

Yep, the two dogs were sure it was 7:00 and not the 8:00 this computer said when I woke up! So up I got, as usual, and out we went into the yard for the morning circuit. Now we are back inside, they have eaten, and I have my Hazlenut coffee. I love being able to just let them out without worrying about trafic and running away----this entire yard is fenced and surrounded by cattle farms. I love watching the new little calves frolic around free, drink from their mamas, and rest in the sunshine. Some things make me realize that the natural world strives to keep some continuity despite the pitfalls and un-natural things we humans tend to do to our surroundings.

Nature is not always kind, as witnessed by the horrific happenings in Japan, but I suspect that if we humans had built our cities away from the coasts on higher land and had built our buildings lower and stronger, that we could rectify much of the destruction caused by these natural earthquakes and tsunamis. I will have to say that Japan is way ahead of much of the human world with their building construction, thank heavens, which has been a real saving grace for many people there. Hopefully we are learning more about the dangers of our methods of generating our power and I suspect that the Japanese people will make history with newer, safer, more effective methods in the near future. I have been reciting in my mind one of my favorite pieces of prose overnight and this morning, and I hope no one will mind if I post it here again this morning. It always gives me hope for humanity.

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Max Ehrmann, Desiderata

The Desiderata poem was originally written by Max Ehrmann. It was used by Rev Frederick Kates of St Paul´s Church in Baltimore in devotional materials he compiled for his congregation. On top of this material he had written "Old St paul´s Church, Baltimore A.C. 1692". The year was the foundation year of the church.

We are all children of the Universe. We need to keep reminding ourselves of this fact.

Thanks for reeminding me of the Desiderata - always have loved it, Soos.

Peaches will sleep as long as I do - sometimes, like today, wish she would have gotten me up earlier - as I want to be up early later this week - and probably won't be. Ah.... such is life. I do like the longer days, though - so need to look at the positive.

Hope everyone has a great day. I've been doing a bit of clean-up in here while I haven't been feeling well. Bought a new little cansiter vac - not bad. It still isn't as strong for the dog hairs as I'd like, but the best vac I've had in here yet and fits where I want to keep it. Have taken things out of closets I don't use - am making a package either for the yard sale the park I'll be at will have in the late summer - or to give away as time passes. Problem is waiting, means holding on to the "stuff" till then. Ha. Still want to go through all my clothes again and really be bad. Like the one sweater I really don't like - but it's red, and I wear it around Christmas. It's GOING. I'm also going to get rid of the winter coat I have - since I got the really lightweight one from Lands End - I can get rid of the bulkier one. Could probably fit 4 or 5 of these lightweight ones in it's place! See - I know things I'll be weeding out without even opening the closet doors. And, of course, the little vac that's being replaced will need a new home. So, all is not lost when I don't feel good - can't just SIT here hahaha And I am starting to feel like there's an end to this cold.

good morning ladies
Still feeling pretty crappy but the dayquil is helping. Not much news from my part of the world,
Japan is totally on my mind, have a long time family friend in the navy over there and he is
fine. Gotta love Facebook for keeping up with the world in that sense.
Oldest grandson has spent the weekend here and I've enjoyed his company. Son took him to
work with him and he's thinking of job opportunities there, but for a life career GS wants to
look into being a firefighter. He's 17 now and looking for a first job.
Coffee is calling my name and its about time for my medicine. Have a great day and be
safe.

Good morning! Reading some good thoughts here this morning. Thank you for sharing!

Up at the usual time this morning - 6am by yesterdays clock- 7 by today. Nice to have Sunday to buffer the time change. Made coffee, did a little work and watched a movie. Randy served me a wonderful breakfast in bed and cleaned up the kitchen. He is a gem! I am just beyond thrilled with life right now. So appreciative in so many ways.

Friday we celebrate the 16th anniversary of the day we met. Oh how to celebrate? Hot tub and champagne, methinks.

I'm off to sort through spare bedroom and bathroom today - being ruthless, being ruthless.

Have a lovely day you lovely ladies!
Choose to be happy!

Is a cloudy day here in K'ville. And it doesn't look like it is going to blow off like yesterday. Need to make a run to Wal-mart forgot milk yesterday. Mine has gone south, what a disappointment. Will go play with RetireandHappy and Sprinter today. Waiting on my birding friends to call then, will be ready to take off for a week or two of birding.

Did my laundry yesterday but need to do another load today. Vacuumed but need to mop and dust. Windows need to be washed and the outside of the rig needs washing too. So much W O R K to do and so little time allotted to do it in.

Be safe on the road, warm and dry in the campgrounds and have some fun.

Hello ladies!

I'm late again today. I started the day off by coloring my hair, which put me behind schedule. We were going to top off the gas tank on the motorhome this morning, since we have a 45 cent per gallon discount. But decided to go to the hospital to visit with my Dad first. By the time we left the hospital and stopped at Chili's for lunch, we were too lazy to leave the house again. So hopefully the gas prices don't go up by the time we top the tank off tomorrow.

I fixed a crockpot full of chicken & dumplings which will be this evening's dinner. I'm wondering after the lunch we had today if we'll want dinner, but it won't be ready until about 7:00 this evening, so hopefully we'll both want something to eat by then.

Tomorrow is the start of another work week, but that means we're only 5 days from another weekend.

Sis from NC is going home tomorrow and sis from FL is flying up to replace her, so my mother will still have someone to shuttle her back and forth from the house to the hospital. It sounds like Dad will be released from the hospital on Tues.

Take care everyone and have a good day.

I know it is late already in the day...
Sounds like some of you are still feeling yucky and miserable. Hope you start feeling better soon!

The night before last, I couldn't get to sleep, with thoughts racing thru my mind of the earthquake/tsunami situation, my work situation, etc, plus my restless leg syndrome bothering me again. Only got a few hours of sleep after finally relaxing from a pain reliever pill. Work was crazy yesterday with the haircut sale so last night I decided to take an Advil PM before going to bed to help me get to sleep. Well, I woke up at 3pm this afternoon! I guess I really needed some sleep!

Not motivated to do anything today. Tomorrow I am scheduled off too, but my friend from work (my hiking buddy) was scheduled with more hours than she wants and feels bad about my cutback in hours so is going to take tomorrow off and give me her hours if she can. She is really not happy with what they are doing with my hours lately. Yesterday, I averaged 14.4 minutes per cut, so maybe that will help some when they make out the next schedule :roll:

It is nice to see the sun still out at 6pm! Will give me more daylight for my day trips now. Don't like being out driving in the mountains and unfamiliar places after dark. I might go down to Palm Springs on Thursday to do some hiking at the Indian Canyons (palm tree lined creeks and oasis, with waterfalls).
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Soos, I found 'Desiderata' about 35 years ago on a plaque in a store or maybe a garage sale. It 'struck' me the moment I read it. I have kept it close to me whatever I am doing. It is hanging over my desk and and I have a habit of reading it at least once per day. I have instructions for it to be read at my final service.
Hope all you industrious girls made huge progress with your projects and those not feeling well get some needed rest and relaxation.
I bought a vehicle over ebay today. It's a 7 year old truck but the owner convinced me it's a 'creme puff'. My son will never let me live this down if I got taken :shock: :lol: I have done this before and so far haven't been disappointed.

I found my car on ebay. I got what I expected - and am happy with it. Friends of mine have bought there last couple cars on ebay. And my first year out I met a couple who bought their 2nd rv on ebay and then turned around and sold their first there. Just a matter of talking and asking the right questions - I hope yours works out for you!

Well, it's kind of late for a morning post. Our weather was nice today except it was very windy. I decided to go fishing at our pond this afternoon. The first fish I caught was a cat fish that was big enough to clean so I decided to catch enough for a meal. They were few and far between and I was down there until almost dark. Kept one cat fish, 7 perch and 2 crapie. I also caught some kind of mullet but didn't clean it. We have a lot of different kinds of fish in our ponds because they were over run by the 2 hurricanes that flooded here. I was afraid we would lose our bass but didn't. I remember why I don't like cleaning fish, it's usually dark by the time I get it done. Then our electricity went out for 2 1/2 hours. It took the electric company a while to find the problem.

Birdie, have you tried the milk called Calorie Countdown? I can't get through a half gallon of regular milk before it goes bad but the Calorie Countdown lasts a long time. The carton says it a dairy beverage, what ever that is. I probably don't want to know what's in it. It's more expensive but I usually don't have to throw any away.

I just buy a quart of milk at a time, so I know it will be fresh until I drink it all.

Just talked to the gal from work and they wouldn't let her give me her hours for tomorrow. Just don't understand that! They are giving the part-timers more hours tthan they want and cutting my hours because I am a minute too slow on my haircuts. I just don't get that :roll: Well, I guess I have tomorrow off now, so will have to come up with something constructive to do, like update my resume! :roll:

Barbie, I have never had a haircut in a salon, or whatever they call them where you work, but if I had, and the poor cutter was on a time schedule, I would have thrown a tantrum as a customer. It sounds as if that company (not just the shops you work in, but the company----can't think of its name) is obsessed with times of cuts, and cares nothing for either the customers receiving them or the employees giving them. What on earth is up with that? There must be some big wig out there, in charge of all the supervisors of all the shops, who insists that the employees are able to shear customers as fast as a sheep shearer does a sheep! Maybe there is a private little hair salon looking for a sociable, competent hair cutter/styler such as you, where you could actually spend some time chatting with your customers and making them feel like coming back? I think working on your resume is a great idea. Good grief----your jobs have been much worse than I can imagine. Good luck in finding a place to work where I might even wish to have a hair cut!

Barbie, there has to be other salons to find work. You may have said, but I'll ask again. Why do you only work for GC? You've had nothing but stress. From not being able to eat, sit down, dealing with lice...!! I think a letter to the company and a different company are in order. I just worry about you.
