FRIDAY, MARCH 11

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

FRIDAY, MARCH 11

Postby Colliemom » Fri Mar 11, 2011 7:54 am

Good Morning everyone,

My goodness, March is moving right along here. Despite having these crazy little snowstorms, cloudy days, sunny days, mild temp, cold temps, we are advancing steadily toward spring. And now that I have the official word from the park, I am about 6 weeks from returning to work for the summer. Those 6 weeks will go by fast. Trip to SS offfice, dog to groomer one day, both dogs to vets for annual heartworm checks etc., outside yard work once we find some ground, trip to an RV show (if weather cooperates), Doing a few minor things for the TT and getting that uncovered and ready to roll again, getting my lawn tractor serviced, blood work test with follow up on that, getting some CMA's on the house, tire rotation on truck etc. etc. Yep, going to be a busy 6 weeks. Oh yeah, there's the drug test and paperwork for the park too.

All kinds of tragedies on the news these past couple of days. 6 children lost in a house fire in PA and now that 8.4 earthquake and tsunami in Japan. I can only hope and pray that my cousin's daughter and her husband were not in that area. They are living over there for two years. Job transfer for him.

So my little doings for today, which aren't really going to be much other than the usual stuff, seems trivial in comparison to all that news. All that's on my agenda is to work on my little sign as I am putting on the last coat of paint and stuff on the back, start making a new box for my two girls to use to jump into my truck on and I don't know what else. Supposed to be a nice mild day here. Will probably go for a doggie walk later on. Might go to Gaylord too as I have a few things on my list that are on sale right now and tomorrow looks like another lousy day.

Guess I will zap my cousin an email to see if she has heard from her daughter and get on with my day here. Have a good one everyone. Those along the CA/OR, keep you eyes peeled.

G'morning, Sue and everyone else,

I awoke at 3:30 (5 here now),and got on the computer, also turned on the Fox news as I keep a little TV next to my computer desk. What a shock to see the devastation in Japan. Looks like something computer generated in a movie. The west coast is warning about the upcoming tsunami heading this way. The local news is full of coverage warning people along the coast and certain roads are already being closed. Sure makes my worries seem small by comparison. Hawaii is preparing to be hit at any minute.
Prayers...

The sun is shining here but seems overshadowed by the terrible earthquake news. The pictures of the tsunami are like a nightmare. I was in Brookings, OR not long after the horrible tsunami in Sri Lanka and they had a tsunami scare. I was so freaked as we had just been down in Crescent City and read all about the one that hit there and caused so much destruction years earlier. I was right on the beach and felt the quake, I ran outside and people were calm saying oh, we have these all the time just watch the news. Well I went inside and the news was saying, if you are near the ocean move to higher ground now! I was there alone at the time and had no clue where to go but a lady I had met on the plane on the way out had given me her phone number so I called her. She said come to her place as she was higher up and I could stay there until the all clear. Nothing happened & I returned to where I was staying, but I sure spent a few anxious hours and woke often during the night to peek out at how high the waves were!

I just ordered my DH the new iPad2 and I think I am as excited as he is! It will be a three week wait for delivery though :( I think if I like his I'll get one too and get sell my Macbook laptop. Actually my iPhone is pretty much all I need now for the amount of traveling I do.

Well, couldn't reach my cousin this morning so called my other cousin. She said that my cousin's daughter (her niece) is in Toyoko but they are okay. One worry out of the way. Course it isn't over yet. More aftershocks, but by now they should be able to stay out of harm's way I hope. Sure I will learn more as time goes on here.

And they are also facing a potential nuclear disaster over there yet too if they can't get that water into those nuclear rods at the power plant. Sounds like 3 mile island all over again.

Watching all this on the new, certainly does remind me of a Sci Fi movie as Lenora said. The tidal wave reminded of of the move "Deep Impact" where a meteor stikes earth and displaces the ocean which in turns floods a lare area of the U.S. east coast and literally wipes it out.

So far the tidal wave impact on the west coats is minimal, but it's early yet. Feels like we are watching Armaggedon, the end of the world as the bible has said. at least in Japan anyway.

Good morning- just catching up on all I've missed for the last day or so. It's true our little day to day happenings seem trivial in light of the devastation that's going on. It's hard not to get caught up in the panic. I try to remind myself to pray for those affected and still continue on with our little lives here, because we need as much positive energy as possible to counteract the fear in the world.

We are quite busy making transitions here and today we will find out if we have roommates moving into our house this weekend. yikes. That means we will get the new tires on RV ASAP and move it up here to the house and start moving into it so the renters can have the house. Yes, we have offered the house for rent to a couple in need. Folks we know and trust, so a win-win... just pushes our plans to move into RV up by about 6 weeks.

Our health club members have received the news of our closing well and are very supportive of us and our plans, yet sad to see "their" gym close.

I have a good feeling about the way things are going.

I wish for you all a wonderful day!
Choose to be happy!

Hey we are in a sunny San Antonio. Getting prepared to descent upon K'ville and Karen and her furbabies and Sprinter too.

The Japanese devastation is so sad. Will be putting that country and people on the prayer list. Will need to watch for the US coasts, Hawaii and the west coast of the mainland and Alaska is probably already been affected. Hopefully our extended family of families are safe.

Starting my bird trip here shortly. Looking forward to the possibility of seeing a couple of "lifers". Not too many of those that are readily available. Some of the birds in the far north US and of course, many pelagics I need to find. But have the rest of my life to go find them.

If you are on the road, be safe, in a campground be warm, dry and where ever you are have fun!

Good morning ladies!

Thoughts are on the news once again, as I follow the tsunami reports on the internet. Amazing video of the waves and giant whirlpool. Pray all those on the west coast are safe and will not be affected. I have a cousin in Bandon, OR on the coast, so wondering about how he's affected too.

Greetings to friends in Kerrville as you gtg today. Glad you are getting to go on your birding excursion, Birdie. Hope you find that lifer...or two!

Nothing happening here today...just putzing around the house & rv. Still playing with the two fresh water tanks' valves, trying to find the right combination, so they'll work together. Writing down what I try so I'll remember what works/doesn't work. Thought Birdie and I had it figured out, but still had to switch over when one ran dry. Filled the tanks back up and am now trying another configuration.

May work on washing windows in the house today..inside. Still too much pollen outside. Will also work on bringing my blog up to date. So much time, so little to do.

Share a smile with someone today.

GOOD MORNING ALL

What an eathquake that was, but the tsunami that followed it seemed to do even more damage than the shaking. I have my
TV on all night, so have been watching it since it happened, out in the trailer. What is really worrisome is the fact that they can't generate enough power to circulate water to cool down the nuclear power plants----I am hoping someobdy comes along with a large enough genreator to accomplish that. So far, they are saying that they haven't detected any radiation escaping.

Yes, I am back in St. Cloud to dogsit for the O'Briens while they and the kids are at Disney this weekend. It was winter-like, for FL, here this morning, in the low 40s, so I turned on my furnace to take the edge off. With the sun shining in brightly now, it's quite warm in there. I will be staying in the house here tonight, however, to make sure Fallon, the dog, doesn't freak out at being left alone. I will be able to use Melissa's WiMi card, so will be in the chatroom and online whenever the spirit moves me. I also plan to download a bunch of MP3 songs that Melissa's boss gave her (literally thousands of them) to my MP3 player. That should keep me busy.

When Melissa gets home a little after noon, I will go get some more of that great spray medicine for animals that seems to cure itchies, hot spots, wounds, infections, whatever. It has worked like a miracle on Molly, and I don't want to run out any time soon. Her ear looks good today, after her attack the other night, and I cleaned it with that spray stuff.

Karen, and anyone else with rigs on the Pacific Coast, please keep us informed, as Bob has asked. Hopefully, those waves will have lost some height and power in the trek across the Pacific.

Have a nice Friday, y'all, and be thankful you weren't in Japan last night.

Happy travels!

Good-afternoon, everyone !! I couldn't get on first thing this morning, anything happening here seems so trivial compared to what I was watching on the t.v. Tornados, storms, terrible earthquakes, almost every morning for several months now, I seem to be having my morning coffee with news of such. My morning prayers included all those victims not yet found and families that are so worried about loved ones.

After reading your greetings Kathleen, wanted to tell you, I am sorry you aren't having the best of days . I hope resting today, will give you plenty of energy for your day tomorrow with the Red Hat ladies. If you've never been, then you must be so excited, so I hope you're in better health and great spirits for your day out with them.

My Maggie, is having a real off day too. She went for her shots and check up yesterday and today, walks slowly and just dragging herself around, didn't even have much interest in her meal this morning. Now that is really bad !! We walked out to the mailbox, and I thought we might walk up the hill, but she wasn't interested at all, so now she is laying in the sun in the foyer. The shots usually have some effect, but today is worse then I remember other times being.

Plus we woke to snow on our car and decks, and only 43, at this time, and wind is chilly. Not a good day, but still sooooooo much to be thankful for. So I am truley trying. I hope all on the west coast are taking precautions and paying attention to what is happening there. I thought of Kd, first thing this morning, hope you got moved before this. I thought of all of you, but she was having a problem with weather before this all happened.

Lets all count our Blessings today and really look for all we have to be thankful for, and pray for those in all that turmoil.

Hello everyone!

It's no longer morning in MD, but it's been a busy morning. The rains have finally stopped and in this area of MD, we probably got less than half of the rainfall compared to other areas of the state. The sun has peeked out a couple times this morning but it is mostly overcast today.

I, too, have been following the devastation in Japan. It is so sad what they are going through and will keep them in my prayers.

My brother emailed our 2 sisters, one in NC and the other in FL, to see if they could help us out with taking care of our parents. Dad ended up having his wrist re-operated on yesterday afternoon. The doctor found infection inside and a culture was sent to lab, the area was rinsed clean and re-sutured. Since Mom is legally blind, there is very little she can do on her own so not only does she need our help but we take turns taking her to the hospital and sitting in the hospital for hours at a time. Not only is Mom legally blind, she is easily confused and needs to be watched closely to make sure she doesn't get lost once she leaves Dad's hospital room. Fortunately, both sisters have agreed to help us. My sister from NC is driving up today and the other sister is flying up Monday. This will be an immense help to my brother and me. Hubby picked Mom up 10:00 this morning and has been at the hospital with her since then. My brother will relieve him this afternoon sometime and this evening our sister from NC will arrive to relieve our brother. My brother has been spending the nights at our mothers house since the beginning of the week and is looking forward to spending nights at home and being with his family.

I hope everyone enjoys their day, wherever they are.
