Sunny Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

GOOD AFTERNOON, ALL!

I drove to Plant City RV place yesterday, spent a few hours going through every detail of the 3 short bed truck campers they have there, some had things I thought I want, some had other things I know I want, but missing other things-----sigh! All the campers are so filthy and have so much mildew all over the outsides of them due to their sitting for years on that lot, I assume, as I think all three had very little use since 2008, and at least two had never been used. I was assured they would all be cleaned and spic and span before I took one, but......

I came away thoroughly confused, disappointed in that the installation of them was not included in the price, and they all had shortcomings for the prices they wanted. I am also not convinced I want to try to constantly back up and load one of those, or unload one by myself. And, from what I have read, driving one is no easy chore in the wind, either.

So......I guess I will concentrate on getting my camper top re-vamped(by me) ------curtains I bought installed, another plastic bureau put in (I used the one I hauled down here in my house) re-install my cot/bed with an air matress on top, make sure my 12 volt fan works and replace my 12 volt compressor/battery thingy that no longer takes a charge (it's many years old) , buy some new camping pots and pans as the ones I had I am now using in the house, look into portable
AC units-----is there any such thing?------and get ready to head home sometime later on with just that on my truck. I can leave my trailer and canoe down here untill next year. I have another larger canoe at home I cdan use up there. Then, when I get home, I need to get an RV person wo make my older trailer road-ready for me so I can camp up there for the summer. I am tired of trying to figure things out in my mind. I don't think I am tired of camping, just tired of hauling, moving around, staying for a few days, and doing it all over again. And I have concluded I really don't enjoy camping alone, either. Why go to a beautiful spot like Blue Cypress Lake all alone? With no one to help unhitch, hitch, and whatever.

Am I fickle? Am I confused? What the hell am I?

Sigh!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Aw, Soos. I never understand an rv dealer that shows rigs that are not in ready-to-buy condition. It's one reason I quit looking at used rigs at rv places. Some were disgusting - and they'd say the same to me - well, that'll all be cleaned up before you'd pick it up. How do I know some of that will clean???

Not sure how small you want a portable air condidtioner to be. Here's a link to one on Amazon about the size we got for Jean's tt when her ac quit working last summer: SPT Portable Air Conditioner, 7500 BTUs, WA-7500MImage

They carry these types of ac's at Lowe's and Home Depot and probably all similar stores, too. The one we got Jean worked like a charm. I was very impressed - but guessing this is bigger than you'd want in the back of your truck. Very portable, tho :)

Soos I think your just bummed out at the moment after looking at those nasty truck campers. I am positive that you will bounce back to your usual feisty self.

And for goodness sake DON'T give up on camping solo! If your solo and don't go camping how the heck are ya gonna meet other campers and make friends!!! Remember Will Rogers, "A stranger is just a friend I haven't met yet". New friends are always waiting for you around the corner. Or in our case down the road in another park!!!!

Buck up gal, yank them big girl panties up and tug those boot straps!! You'll be fine.

Well, it's more of a soggy Sunday where I am. That front moved slowly across TN yesterday, last night, and early this morning. My sister Glimmer Goddess, my dog Gus, and I were weathering the storms in the first night of my "new to me" rv. Yes, finally I have a home on wheels. I am so excited, even the rain couldn't dampen my spirits. Although I admit to worrying a a bit around 2am when it was still raining steadily. But we survived and left Ringgold, GA driving over Monteagle Mountain heading back west toward Nashville where I have 12 more weeks before my retirement. The stick house is up for sale but I am so ready to be on the road. Guess that first night in the pouring rain was a good test as we could find no leaks and stayed snug and warm. I will post pix as soon as I get back to Nashville, but tonight we are settled in at Old Fort State Park in Manchester, TN. We are out in the woods and the deer are plentifull which amazes Gus and delights the Goddess. Thanks to Mitch for putting me on the map. More soon.

Well, today's a new day, right? I love "do overs".

Oh Lenora, so sorry about your bad day and Little Missy's boo boo. Many an item has been added to my checklist the hard way, and I'm sure all of us can empathize...been there, done that. Hope you day went better today.

OK, sorry about that Bethers. It's an Itasca Spirit 24F. I really liked the size and feel of your rig when I visited last year and while I've looked at others, bigger and smaller, this one just felt right as soon as I stepped inside. The only thing I don't like is the carpet on the floor, especially with all the muddy rainy weather. Will change that soon, but will just get by for a while. I took a sick day on Monday so that I could have the long weekend to drive home and get to know my rig a bit. Drove about 75 miles today and am actually camped in a state park about 40 miles from home. We are the only camper here tonight and the wildlife is abundant. I just love it. Ran into some rough wind going over the mountain this side of Chattanooga but was expecting it so tried to be ready. At least I had the luxury of making it a 3 day weekend so I didn't have to rush home. Will camp with the grandkids at Merriweather Lewis park on the Natchez Trace next weekend. Only about 5 miles from the house for them but will be fun and a chance to dry camp before hitting the road. Then will leave my rv at my stepdaughter's house until Monday night (I have to teach on Monday of spring break because we had so many days lost to snow) then drive back down to Hohenwald, leave the car and head down the trace to Natchez with what's left of the break. Should be a nice shake down cruise and a drive I've always wanted to do. When I return to school on the 21st only 10 weeks till I retire. Woo Hoo! Am already planning a summer trip. :!:

Thanks for satisfying my curiosity, Vickie. I'm so excited for you. I hate my carpet, too - but put down throw rugs and they clean easy enough so that I keep convincing myself to let the carpet stay. All my dogs have always preferred carpeting - But someday, maybe, somewhere - I'll have a rig without carpet and only have throw rugs :) I love that you already spent the weekend out - and that you will next weekend, too. You'll be so used to it so quickly.
