Forest River Flagstff - UPDATED!

Postby Yakn1 » Fri Mar 04, 2011 10:24 pm

Does anyone out there have a Forest River Flagstaff?
We are off tomorrow to check out a 2009 21', so I was wondering what was thought about them.
I did try to pull up reviews but there are only a few.
I appreciate thoughts anyone has, thanks!

Vickie, good luck on the review. Is it the 21FB or the 21FBRS? Looks like either one would be just right and you could do the shake down trip to Port L. We would all help you break it in. :o

Vickie,

I don't have a Flagstaff, but I do have a Rockwood, made by the same company. I am very impressed with Forest River's workmanship. The one you are looking at is similiar to the Rockwood Mini Lite 21 ft. trailer as the floorplans are similiar in both lines. If I had not found what I wanted in the Rockwood, I would have gone with the Flagstaff. If you can't find what you want in the Flagstaff line, then take a look at the Rockwoods. I like the floorplan of the 21 and if you get one with the slideout, you have all the room you need. I much rather prefer the sofa to the dinette any day. Eat outside most of the time anyway, and if I need to stay in, I just set up a smaller table than the one that came with my TT and eat on that, put it away and done with it. There's plenty of storage space in these TT's. In fact, my plan is kind of, if I find that I don't mind hauling a TT all over the place, I may upgrade to the 21. I would love to have the island bed with the nightstands on both sides. I have to interest in the Murphy bed as I don't want to be bothered with having to put it up and bring it down all the time.

Let us know how you make out.

Thanks for the responses girls!!
Okay then, FR Flagstaff, not working. It looked great in the pics, don't they always  . It seemed small on the outside but let's go in... oh no, you can barely manuver 2 people around inside :(
So then we go look at an APEX, it was okay, but.....Haggled a price and said we would get back to them (I think that means run like hell)!
So we are on the way home from Kyle,Tx, and I told Carra that CW still had a used TT that we looked at awhile back and liked, so down the road to CW.
Yep, it's still there and.... off to auction if it's not gone by the end of the month. Okay Vic start figuring in your head, I want 4 new tires plus this that and whatever else I can think of, and this is what we'll offer... Offer accepted!!!! Wow that was easy, crud here comes the Gen Mngr." We are so very sorry, someone had put money down on that TT about 30 min ago, but if they don't get it, we will still accept your offer."
We really are okay with this, meant to be, not meant to be - let's go home.
On the way out Carra spots a Coleman CTS192RD. "Let me just look inside" says she.... famous last words :D "Wait, come in and see" says she again!
We both liked it, I especially like a rear dinette, seems to be a bit more roomy. They are putting on stabilzers on all 4's and having to put a skylight bubble over the shower ('cause C can't fit). I will have the WDH and brake controller installed when I go to pick it up (also included), and still less than the "advertised" sale price.
Someone is already looking at the sat dish setup possibilities and I'll check out tvs next week. I don't care much about a tv, but have to keep the natives happy
The coleman web site doesn't show much on these rigs and even if I did have pics, still haven't learned how to post...I'm a techno IDIOT!!

EDIT to this looong story... the TT will probably NOT come home with us. Given time to think without "someone" wanting this so much, I really think it's too much weight for my P/U.

Sorry gang, note the edit I did.
After all of that rambling.....probably won't happen. My truck will only tow 4600#, guess we'll keep trying.
To tell you the truth, I'm almost over ALL of it!

Well, Vicki, I'm sorry that it doesn't seem like this trailer will work out for you. 4600# towing ability doesn't give you a lot of options, especially with 2 people and all of their stuff. I don't know what your plans are for your trailer, but you might think about an "expandable" or hybrid trailer -- one that looks like a regular trailer when towing but has tent ends when set up to camp. If you don't plan to full-time in it (although rvgrammy & her hubby did) it might be the ticket for your tow vehicle. You'd be amazed at how much room there is inside the trailer with the sleeping area actually outside of the trailer. My little 19' Shamrock turned into a 26' trailer when both bunkends were out -- very roomy. And it was easy to cool in the summer & keep warm in the winter (well, at least our winters).

Keep searching, Vicki. You'll find something that will work for you. And good for you for thinking again about towing something that's overweight for your truck.

well now, that is a nice roomy little trailer, too bad it didn't work out, but the right
one will come along. I'm wondering ...was that a shelf over the bed ? or some sort of
slide out bunk?

Aw, so sorry this one didn't work out. BUT - don't stop looking - you'll find just the right one that is under the weight you need - you really will! I'm glad you found that weight problem out now, and not after all was said and done!
