Howdy from Live Oak, Texas

Come on in and say hello.

Howdy from Live Oak, Texas

Postby TGallagher » Wed Feb 23, 2011 2:31 pm

Hello. I will be building or purchasing a travel trailer within the next year or so. I'm turning 50 this year, and am in the process of paying my house off. I can't wait to start RV'ing, and seeing this wonderful country of ours.

I haven't decided on building a teardrop trailer to start, buying a pop-up or just waiting to save up for a Casita trailer. So far, I've heard some RV park managers aren't real friendly to pop up trailers. Don't know why.

Anyway, I'm open to travel suggestions, tips, etc.

Hi TG. Not sure what you want to be called, so doing my own abbreviation there :). Quite a task to make your own - will be interested to see what you do. That said, lots of cg's require hardsided, especially in bear country. And others require you to be fully self-contained (they may not have showers, bathhouses, etc). For me, since I love to be able to stay just anywhere, I will always want to be fully self-contained and I don't like the work involved in pop-ups. But that's just me. You go for what will work best for you.

Glad to have you with us and hope to see lots of you.
Beth

Welcome from Kerrville, Texas. Glad you decided to join the forum. Tell us more about yourself and pictures are always welcome. I'm with Beth - something that is selfcontained so I can boondock if I want. I also don't much like using CG bathrooms - just me.

Welcome to the forum TG! I had to find Live Oak on the map. You aren't far from the Port Lavaca gtg in April, maybe a day visit?

Welcome, TG. I found that a popup can get old very fast. So much easier to pull in a small tt and hookup. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it :D

welcome, glad you found us and looking forward to hearing on what you decide on. Those little
tear drops are great but not big enough for me. In 3 more years I'll be full timing it so self
contained is a must for me. Did the popup routine myself.

Greetings! Glad you've joined us, even though you don't have a rig yet. I'm sure we'll be more than happy to offer you more opinions than you thought possible about the type of rig you ought to get (it's already starting!). Don't hesitate to ask questions -- we have answers!

Welcome!

Welcome TG. I get my mail in Schertz!!!! And we have another Sistah, LongDog2 or is it Long2Dogs - Colleen is from Schertz and then Yakn1, Vickie is from ??? it went away, just south of Schertz and Live Oak.

You need to meet up with Yakn1 as she is restoring a Perris Pacer which is a lot like the Casita. And I had a Casita before I got Bunkie....

So we need a Sistahs meet up in San Antonio. I never thought of doing this kind of stuff when I was 50...So glad you have decided this is to be your life. Perhaps a day trip to the Port Lavaca GTG would be something you might be able to do with us. Information is in the Get Together section out there. I'll be getting in touch when I get back to the mail box there in Schertz.

Welcome to the forum! And congratulations on paying off the house...that's a biggy. Soon you can concentrate on saving for that TT and having fun. Glad you're not waiting to retire to do it. Do try to make it to the Port Lavaca GTG. You'l get to meet several of the sistahs and they'll have lots of encouragement for you.

Pam
Birdie is right. We will need to have a GTG here in San Antonio even if it is just for coffee or lunch. It appears that there are a number of us within 60 miles or so of San Antonio. I'm hoping to get down to the Port Lavaca GTG the beginning of April if possible.

Welcome !!! Looks like you're in an area where you will have a good opportunity to meet up with some of our Sistahs. You will learn first hand how close we all are in spite of the fact we live all over the country. Hope you will join in more on here , so we all get to know you better. Any questions, ask away, we are all full of answers :P Of course, you then sort through all the responses and from all of them find your own answer  ;) :) Glad you've joined us !!
