New member here. My husband and I are fulltimers, going on our sixth year. Our only goal each year is to stay south of I-10 in the winter and find some place cool in the summer! We generally winter in the Rio Grande Valley because my aging parents stay there in the winter. We try to be available for them. This winter, however, we are in Houston as my husband is being treated at MD Anderson. In the summer we are in/out of Indiana, where we used to live. We own rentals in the Goshen/Elkhart area and do any maintenance, etc., during the summer. While there, we stay at Elkhart Campground.
We have an 06 Tiffin Phaeton and I do a lot of the driving. I enjoy it. We started our travel adventure with our two Scottish Terriers. Fortunately, they loved RVing and lived long lives, but they are gone now. They were rescues, as have been all my dogs, and at some point we will rescue again. But with current health challenges, we feel now is not the time.
We do a lot of sightseeing, we walk daily, and ride bikes. We enjoy historical sites around the U.S. and are using our time in Houston to explore the city and this area of Texas. Many of our best friends are fellow RVers we have met along the way. We also use our lifestyle to reconnect with friends and family. Here in Houston, I have a cousin I hadn't seen in years who is keeping our social calendar full, and my husband's college roommate is here. He was best man at our wedding almost 40 years ago and we just saw him last week for the first time since then.
This next winter we will be spending time in Florida where our son lives. He is getting married in November and we plan to be there early to help with the preparations. What fun!
I enjoy reading all the posts from others. I am not a frequent poster on any forum, but contribute when I think I have a worthy opinion or information of benefit to others.
