I had a home-cooked meal at an Amish famiies home last night. Before leaving I made tentative arrangements to do this with our gtg group. Tentative only in that I have to call her to work out which day. The food was wonderful. I'm STILL full. It was an experience I thought would probably be only once-in-a-lifetime, so I feel very lucky I'll be able to do it twice.
The cost will be $15 a person. It's served family style, and they bring out more and more as needed. We can ask questions on just about any subject. And they'll show us around if asked. Their garage is so different from ours, but at first glance you only think garage. Then you see the horse stalls I hope everyone wants to go. I'll need a head count about 2 weeks in advance so they can plan the amount of food necessary. There's no tipping - well, the way you can tip is by purchasing cards made by the children ($1 each) or the Mom's cookbook ($5) if you want. It's not required.
I really am looking forward to going back and taking all of you with me!
