YAY, Li!!!! I remember thinking, on my way to my first campout with my old trailer, as I was driving down the road, "I actually have my house following behind me!" "I am doing this!" "I am totally on my own on this back mountain road with a house behind me!"
When I got to the KOA, just 13 miles from home, I had arranged a pull-through, and pulled in like I knew what I was doing, leveled it up, unhitched my truck, and, feeling really smug, sat down at the picnic table to gloat! Then, I noticed that, if I wanted my awning out, I had parked not between the two large trees at the site, but right next to one that would prevent my using the awning! Sooo....I hooked up again (no easy chore back then as I didn't have my backup camera and was too proud to ask anyone for help) pulled forward enough to be able to get the awning out, and then sat back!
I also had forgotten matches or a lighter to light my gas stove, my meds, and food for Molly, so back around the mountain to home I went, luckilly, as others have said, just a short hop that first time out. As Karen said, make LISTS! And, after you make them, don't forget to read them!
Don't forget to block your tires before you jack up the trailer when you unhook your tow vehicle, too-----trailers have a tendency to roll backwards and slip off the blocks, necessitating a heavy-duty jack to get back into action! I hadn't read my list that day!
Have a wonderful time!!!! And we definitely would love some pics!!
