Camping on the St.Lawrence River

Postby Cedar518 » Mon Oct 13, 2008 4:54 pm

Here are some pics from my very short three days on the St.Lawrence. I was in my favorite campground,... Coles Creek. The site to our left stayed open, and a very nice family came in on our right side.

I have always enjoyed watching the freighters go by.

There are thousands of Canada Geese on their way south. These stopped to rest and feed in the campground.

We took a side trip to the Robert Moses Power Dam, where there is a visitor's center. Kathy got a bag full of educational things for her classroom and also some pencils and postcards for her kids. (school kids)

Here the power transmission lines march away to the south from the dam....
Image
The northern counties of NY are allowing the building these "wind farms".... what a great idea!

and from our front door,....

Oh how I hate to give up camping until next spring,.... I am a true camping addict! :D

Great pictures. Maybe you could camp in your living room. We use to do that as kids, especially when the weather was lousy. The only thing we couldn't do was have a campfire-but now we have our virtual one. carold

Cedar, I love the pictures you and the other ladies post ... helps me feel "out there" whilst I'm nailed here at home. And I LOVE rivers, so thanks for feeding that obsession as well!

Thank you for the beautiful pictures! Another good place to go in the near future, the way I'm going lately, at least. I love the sunset!
