June 2011 for the Early PA GTG!!

Postby rvgrammy1953 » Mon Feb 21, 2011 8:27 pm

Okay, here we go and hoping that the place and dates will work for all who would like to do......GETTYSBURG!!!

June 12 - 15, 2011 at Cole Bros. Conewago Campground, Arendtsville, PA...(gps and mailing address is 1507 Narrows Road, Biglerville, PA) It is located approx. 8 miles NW of Gettysburg, nice wooded, rustic campground, with electric and water hook-ups and dump station, that can accommodate big rigs (ask Paulette, Beth, Tina, and Peggy.they have all been there to visit. ;) )....Let me know if you plan to attend and I'll do the reservations as this is where we summer camp, you don't have to pay until you get there....$23-$24/ night.....cash or Check...Bathouse.....and laundry, if needed. We can have the group area which has 10 sites with others very close by.....Refer. directions are coming East or West, PA Turnpike I-76, exit at US 15 south, then exit at the Biglerville - PA Route 234 west. Will have the Sultan (Ernie) meet you there to escort you thru the PA apple orchards to the campground. If you need North and South directions or non-toll routes (the Turnpike is a toll road.), just let me know.....We have our own "in house" tour guide and he shows parts of the battleground and the surrounding area that aren't on the usual tour routes.... ;) :D

I'm really excited about hosting the Early PA GTG and having 2 PA GTGs should cover all interested summer/fall plans.....Will post more details and things to do as we get closer.

Okay, gals, mark the calenders, apply for the vacation dates, and let's have some Summer Fun!!!!

Lori, After I get started working and know my schedule, I'll see what couple days I can get off and join you all. Probably not all 4 days, but will try for 2 of them!

Reserve a spot for me, Lori. I'm looking forward to that tour of Gettysburg.

Lori,

That sounds fantastic. Let me do some figuring and see what happens with work here. That earlly in June, I might be able to get off without a problem. Don't know if I will do all 4 nights, but might do three. Can you give me an alternate route down if I decide I don't want to use the turnpike. Need to see how much it would cost for truck and trailer. Since I would be coming from northern Michigan, I would be heading east on I-80 through OH.

Lori, school doesn't get out until the following week for O, so I don't know if I'll make it or not. I'll try to make it for the weekend...will have to be home sunday evening unless I can make other arrangements for Miss O. Maybe her mom will be willing to keep her an extra day or two? We'll see. Darned school!

Sue....the non-turnpike/toll route would be I-80 across PA to US 15 south then to the PA Route 234 west exit...Hope that helps.... :D

Involves a hot dog with a Greek chili sauce on it. You'll love it... ;) )

Birdie is taking the banner to Karen for the Port Lavaca GTG. Karen will send it to you, Lori (don't forget to get it signed!), and then I think it goes to Lenora for the PNW gtg, then back to PA to Beth unless something else pops up first.

Thanks Lori,

I was kind of eyeing that route. Need to do a mileage figure. The one advantage of the toll road is that they do have RV lots in some of their service centers for overnight RV parking and dog runs etc. So that would be a plus. Am studying maps etc. and looking at my budget. I should be able to get a week off work, but first got to find out if I have work. Still waiting on the supervisor changes, but head ranger should know in a couple of weeks what's going on. She figures by mid Maarch she is going to have to send letters out to past summer staff to see who and who is not coming back. College students graduate, change summer jobs etc., so you never know. All goes well, I should start back on or around April 25th. How soon do you need the reservations?

Yep, fun fun fun. And I'll be there - so save me a site. I just don't know yet how many days. Now when are you and the Sultan going to book for the late PA gtg? (ah, it's so much fun to chide my friends).
