I've enjoyed your blog, Beth. Others are soooo right when they say, you take such good shots of the different birds. I've also enjoyed the shots of the countryside in your pictures.

So sorry to hear about your back, not fun, I've had that happen and you have to take care for sometime, or it starts right back up. I wish you a speedy recovery. Messing up your fun time

Safe travels,
CArol :)

Just a question - why is the little red bird called a bluebird? I've seen a couple of them here in Mexico I think. Also saw a whole bunch of the pink spoonbills yesterday but we were in the car so didn't get a pciture of them for you.

Love the photos.Florida is a must-do for bird lovers and reptiles; I have to get myself there somehow.... I also love it when a photo turns out of a bird in flight...that one you got of the heron was so beautiful and peaceful to look at. I love the Crane doing his mating jig, the shot with his wings outstretched shows the perfection of the wing placement on the underside...how beautiful that is.

Okay, now Dr. McInnis here is gonna advise that "aspirin" is far better for muscle and tendon, pain, any tissue related discomfort than ibuprophen based, acetomenophin type pain killers (they only mask pain) whereas good old-fashioned aspirin actually medicates the tissues themselves and will reduce swelling and aid in healing, not just mask pain....recent studies are showing that our old friend "aspirin" is superior to the "newcomers". Take Aspirin, drink plenty of fluids and email me in the morning.

The top of him is blue. :) Love the roseate spoonbills - that's one of my fav birds.... then again, as time bases, I'm getting more and more favs. In Baja, the red birds I was seeing was a different bird - would need to go look up what they were - my brain isn't functioning at the moment.

Beth, the pics are so wonderful...I plan to buy a kayak but how am I going to have the nerve to get out there with alligators? Can anyone tell me how they overcame the fear?
I have had back problems half of my life maybe more actually because I had undiagnosed scoliosis (in the fifties no one even knew the word, did they?). I have found when anything goes out in the lower half of body, the back will flare. When your ankle is well your back will heal too. Of course much of this is how we walk and give to the injured parts of our lower half. Just takes time, your weight is good and you exercise so you are doing the right thing. Aspirin is an antiinflammitory and does work well but my tummy can't take it anymore. This sometimes happens with excessive use. I go to a pain clinic and they have me on 3 different meds and I function very well now, just keep my fingers crossed. Get in jacuzzis when possible too..
That's my story and I'm sticking to it  :D

KD, I feel the same way about aspirin. It has been around for hundreds of years and doesn't have the side affects some of the newer stuff has. If you take too much it can affect your stomach but haven't heard of it killing your liver. I was having leg cramps one time when I was camping and all I had was aspirin. It might have been my imagination but it seemed to help.

Birdie was nice enough to corect me on some of the birds in this post. Carol, you'll be happy to know that is not an Eastern Bluebird, but a male painted bunting. In looking up the pictures, he was with the female, but I couldn't get a good pic of her - and she's mainly green and yellow - blended in with the leaves in the trees. There were so many purple martins there, and I incorrectly named a grackle a purple martin - and I do know grackles - well, thought I did :) The one I wasn't sure of (but was pretty sure was a juvenile) is a juvenile ibis (my thought, but I sure didn't know!) Anyway - I love taking the pictures and should give up naming them :) Thanks, Birdie for the help! I need it.
