My Apologies!

Postby kdmac » Wed Feb 16, 2011 10:32 pm

For days the wind has been blowing the rain in sideways, the pine-cones are beating mercilessly onto my roof, the surf is boiling mad and fabulous. I am invigorated, revitalized and apparently energized because while I wait for the clearing in between squalls so I can go for walks, etc. I have done ridiculous and prodigious amounts of posting on the forum, I have used up way more than my share of space that could otherwise have been used more intelligently by others and I am sorry to have over-stayed my welcome. Please forgive me.

This recent episode of "cabin-fever" due to hurricane force winds has shown me that I do indeed need human contact, or at least someone or something to talk to...the poor gal in the office today! I imagine they are still talking about at this moment. I went in to pay my rent. Her husband and mother were nearby at a table chatting, I asked a few questions I had and an hour later she was finally able to break free of me. I am sure she was trying to find a way to signal her husband during her horrible ordeal, to come and save her from this maniacal talking machine....she dropped various hints of having to get her mother to the doctor in town, which I see now, as I look in retrospect, that I fully ingored and with narcistic abandon went about my frenzied talking...I had no inteniton of letting this gal free, I had someone to which I could talk, and talk, and talk, so talk I did. Finally her dear husband sensed her dilema, and seeing his mother-in-law weaken with every passing minute, he casually and gingerly made his way to the end of the counter...he didn't want to cause me any alarm in the midst of a sentence, not knowing if this would send me into a verbal frenzie ..this allowed her to hide behind him and break free and run toward the outstretched arms of her mother.

I do say all of this in gest. And mother-in-law only needed to pick up some paperwork at the doctor...but I actually did feel like I talked to long while I was there and I have posted on the forum like a wild woman over the last week, or so....I believe I need to get a puppy dog.

HA !! Your post is SO funny !!!
I've done the same thing - sometimes the only humans I see are the clerks at the grocery store & I occasionally find myself talking to them for way too long. The poor things look at me like "seriously lady - move on" !!
As far as posting too much, that's not at all true. That's why we're here !!
Hope you can get out soon and blow the "cabin fever" away !!!

Kd, no one ever 'talks' too much on here. Sometimes we need someone to keep us going here, haven't you noticed some days, morning thread has very few responses on it? As I read the humor of how you talk, I saw myself in every word, just couldn't have said it as well   Don't you DARE quit talking on here. When we have the need for company or just someone to spout our opinion off too, thats what we're all here for. You never know, one of your humorous conversations on here, just might be what someone here needs to perk them up. So no apology necessary , the only way one might be needed is IF you don't grace us with your wonderful way with words on this forum.

Cabin Fever, I do understand and think most do on here, but I haven't noticed yet, that you have taken more then your share of the forum conversation. Is there such a thing?, I never thought of it, but if there is, maybe I am guilty of that too.

Would love to meet you one day, so you need to stay in touch here.

Kd---I, too, have loved your posts! As busy as my days are, I find this morning time to read and share thoughts and adventures a necessity. I am so happy you have been posting lately! I love to know what goes on in the lives and minds of others....it keeps me in touch with reality and helps me to realize I am not as crazy as I sometimes feel!

kd, can't imagine what you are trying to say as I thought that was the way it WAS SUPPOSED TO BE! :D Now, I suppose everytime I start one of those chattering sessions I'll just have to think about you, bless you silently, and keep on chattering.

Guilty as charged here too. Kd, you summed it up way better than I could. I can see myself standing there doing the same thing. But it's so nice knowing that's what this forum is here for. Keeps us from going "nuts" sometimes. I am sure there are those who have busy schedules, family, friends etc., who wonder where the heck we are coming from. But when you are alone all the time and nobody to talk and share things with, that's what happens. I've been rattling on here for almost a year about my hopes and dreams, changng my mind on this and that, tryng to make decisions etc. to the point where everybody probably thnks, there's that "crazy lady" again. But it has helped to get it out cause I have found that I am not the only one doing that. And the suggestins, ideas and just plain comments have helped way more than you can imagine. :)

So you just keep on posting and talking. I've missed your posts. Get on here girl :)

To many or maybe most this is a sounding board... we chat... and chat some more... others give their seasoned opinions... we listen and glean what we can or leave with a better knowing of what we really want... that is in my opinion good... you keep on chatting Kd... it is good for you and me...

Thank you all for encouragement and kind comments. I want to say that I knew this lifestyle would have moments of islolation and loneliness, but I am at a place in life where that isn't going to adversely affect me, in the long-run and I almost welcome it...even the awareness of talking too long to the grocery store cashiers, office staff, etc. is humorous to me; I get my little chat in and have a giggle or two and I am good to go until I find another innocent victim.

In this thread one of you lovely gals (forgot who said it) suggested I turn the camera on myself and post my photo. Oh gosh, I just wouldn't want to do that to any of you. This forum is for uplifting each other, giving aid, information and joy...I am joking. I will post a photo as soon as I figure out how to so an "avatar", is that what it's called or is that the name of a movie?

I remember years ago I over-heard a guy at work talking of our former co-worker he saw that we hadn't seen in years, "Man, has she ever "gone-to-seed". I never forgot that phrase, and it sure sums it up. My once, famed swan-like neck has folded like a dimpled turkey neck; subtle lips have shriveled and drooped under the weight of bull-dog jowls; eyes, once to die-for, are now nearly lashless folds of skin; the once, movie star smile, is marred by a triple-ridged crease that runs vertically down my face, I have no idea where that came from. But, even this is funny to me, it's the way it is supposed to be, the lack of jaw-dropping beauty means we have become the "invisible" people, and I am ok with that...no more double-takes by strangers, no cat-calls in public, no expectations to be anything more than an old women, gone-to-seed. It's freeing, and is a whole new adventure and I welcome it. It makes me give a nod and a smile to old folks I pass, no one generally even makes eye contact with the old ones we pass, treat them as "invisible" they too had youth and loveliness once. I look forward to being invisible...I bet the gal in the office yesterday wished I was invisible.

I started a website in the 90's for Artists and Crafters. I felt passionate about including a personal story with emphasis on a personal photo. This was the internet and the object was to create a connection. I compared this to knocking on a door, and when the door was opened no one was there. I stressed 'let them know you, you are the creator of this wonderful handmade art", a connection has been made and a flow of blood was felt in the website. I didn't sell it but during a bout of bad health I let the mother of the service provider take it over. Most likely I won't take it back but she went in a different direction, none of it brought about any dollar signs but that was never my intent, dumb me, I might have been 'Etsy' (what a goofy name). Mine was www.Homemadeinamerica.com if anyones interested.
I laughed as I read your description of the 'Kathy' in your prime and the now invisible you. I related to this as I'm sure we all do. I remember kind of wanting to get that second look but being very uncomfortable with it too.
Would it be fun to see pics of each of us about 30 years ago more or less? Maybe not
Whether invisible or not, keep writing and sending pics. I have wanderlust so bad, the pics sure aren't helping. I got 'Destiny' out yesterday and will start loading her. She's going somewhere, just not sure where right now :!:

And if you go back far enough in the threads some of us did post pictures from our youth :o    Yes, it was fun! See if Mitch can find it for us and others can add to it.

KD, I think we are alike in many ways. I love my alone-time. And sometimes I get frustrated that I am with people too much. Then I get alone and use the forum for my people fix. We need some type of connection, at least part of the time - and this forum is great for that. And your posts are fabulous - so whenever you feel the urge - write away and then write some more. Plus, of course, continue with those great pictures.
