Thank you so much for caring and asking, we just got home, she is not having all that much to do with me right now. :( She was really happy to see me at the vets, I heard her crying and ask was that my baby and they went right away and got her. She never cries, but think somehow she knew I was there and wanted out of that place  She did very well the vet said, he of course , runs all kinds of test to see what her chances are in handling the ordeal, which I really appreciate. He told me she is really doing good for her age,(12) and that made my day. Just bringing her home, MADE MY DAY !!!!!

So thats all over with and I plan to sleep very good tonight.

Carol, you might look into a product called ProDen Plaque Off. Its a power that you add to their food to keep their teeth clean. I use it on my older guys cause I'm concerned about putting them under at their age and with Buddy's seizures. I bought it on line but don't remember exactly where.

Glad Maggie sailed through the procedure. And now, I'm going to get the toothbrush and doggie toothpaste out - I've been remiss and Peaches teeth show it.

I guess I should have said a wee bit more then I did. I'm wimpy where she is concerned and I do get ole so scared when she has to have her teeth cleaned, but this time she had a bad problem tooth, and it turned out to be more then the one. The older she gets, like you Karen, I hate to think of her being put out for cleaning, plus she has a heart issue, so each yr. age makes this more of a problem too. I do have a solution for plaque , but just got it. Little dogs have more problems with their teeth then larger dogs, I have learned, and boy Maggie has had her share, she doesn't have too many left.

Decided I needed to clarify the situation , as I saw it, so you all wouldn't think I was a silly ole woman, I had good cause, I think, to really be concerned. And you know I really don't care if anyone thinks I am a silly ole woman where she is concerned, she's my buddy and knows allllll my secrets :D , so I have to keep close tabs on her.

Thanks all of you for your concern and thoughts, I really appreciate it, its been a tiring day here.

Glad Maggie came thru the ordeal ok. Poor Momma was more stressed than she was, I think.
And I agree about our furbabies. They are wonderful companions and do know all our secrets and still adore us!

And by Saturday she needs to feel up to having company! That's what Herschel said. :)

Last year I had Phoebe's teeth cleaned and while under her heart stopped. She will not be going back for teeth cleaning. She has had 4 teeth pulled a few years ago because they were so decayed. When I got her from the shelter, they also had removed 2. Poor girl barely has teeth. That's okay, she sucks her food like a vacuum cleaner. Don't need teeth for that.

We can all relate CArol, so don't feel bad.

I have been using the Plaque Off and find it has helped Phoebe's bad breath, no so much her teeth. Trent has been showing good progress with the stuff. And the little ones are doing ok as well, although they are chewers so I don't know how much the stuff is helping them. I'll keep on using it based on these "scientific" results.

Carol you said you do have a solution for plaque , but just got it. What do you have? Last year my vet gave me something I was supposed to brush on their teeth every so often to sort of seal them... but I never tried it.

I'm so glad Maggie made it ok, I know how you feel, I made an appointment for my two little ones to have their teeth cleaned next Tuesday and I am already worrying. My vet does use a different kind of sedative for older dogs or little ones and they come out of it faster. I'm also debating giving them Parvo/Distemper shot, the vet suggests doing it every four years but...

Guess we are all alike, they are our babies and we can't help but worry over them.
