OH NO!!! Austin version....

Postby mtngal » Sat Jan 29, 2011 2:57 pm

Some of you know I had a dead battery earlier in the week. Not to worry too much, it was 4 years plus 4 months old! Got a new battery and good to go for two days. Yesterday at noon at Walmart, my van would not start, nothing, completely dead in the water (except for plenty of power to accessories :(. To make a really long story short, 4 hours, 2 tow trucks, and a rental car later.....my van was parked in the lot at a Chevy dealer (is there possibility a WORST time than 4 pm on a Friday afternoon to arrive at a dealership!?!) and I was home again. A simple trip to Walmart for project supplies turned into the afternoon from he$$. Usually I take this stuff in stride, but when you see the truck that was loading my van you will understand why I was stressed! It all worked out, but next time I think I will tell the road service my van is 22' to ensure a BIG tow truck shows up! (no word yet from dealer, but am assuming it's the starter).

Hoping it's an easy quick fix and that it doesn't break the bank!!!

I can't see the truck hauling, but it looks like your back tires were barely on !!! I would be more then stressed, I think. They didn't ask you how long your rig was? Thats the first thing I am asked, length and what it is.

So sorry, to happen on a Friday, sure hope its not a long or expensive fix though. Are they open Sat. at all? Hope so.
Keep us posted ok?

Good Luck,
CArol

Yep, make sure they know you have an RV. When I got towed off the Blue Ridge last year they sent one truck that couldn't handle it, and then had to call another tow company. That was Good Sams ERS...you'd think they know!

So sorry Diana about your rig problems. I too hope it is a quick fix and if that dealer is like our dealer they are not open on the weekends in the service department. Hope it does not cost an arm & a leg either.

What a week/end we are all having.

Wow, that sure was a tight fit. Would have had my heart beating a little too fast, also. Hope it's not too big of a problem - or should I say not to expensive of one! How about both!

You mentioned two towtrucks. Was this picture the first one or second one? Why two?
Hope it gets resolved soon! Aren't you heading back to CA next week?

Oh Boy, that is scary. I would have been VERY worried. But I guess it ended well so that's a relief. Now if you can get it fixed with not breaking the bank you will be all set. And yes, those things always happen at the most inconvenient times  . But then is there a convienient time :?:

Let's see, yep, did tell them it was an rv. The truck in pic is the 2nd one. First was even smaller and sent for a 'jump' to try to start van. When that didn't work, they sent second truck that is in pic. Oh boy, it was a tight fit. Drive apparently wasn't as concerned as I was, at least he didn't let on. And nobody at the dealership seems abit fazed when they saw it pull into the driveway. So evidently it was safe, but IF there is a next time I will ask for bigger truck! ;)

The next hurdle is getting my van back by Tues afternoon. Won't think too much about that until I talk to service dept tomorrow. My flight home to CA is early, early WED morning. I sure don't want to change that! I'll keep you posted!
