I was a beautiful day to kayak, albeit a bit windy at times. Tina, Nan, and I set off up the river about noon. Soos, Pete and Beth were there to see us off.
All smiles as we paddle along.
We saw gators big,
And small...this one was only about 1.5 ft.
In multiples, until we stopped counting.
Sunning space is limited...have to share.
Not really hungry right now...
Love how the turtles sun their feet too.
Myriads of birds too...
A turkey flew across the river, but no pic. The jury is still out on this guy. Waiting for Birdie to weigh in again. I didn’t like her first answer...but I should know better and just shut up and agree, because what do I know?
There were herons....little blue,
And big blue,
Tricolored,
Immature night heron
Snowy Egret,
Beth and Pete hiked down the swamp trail and hailed us as we paddled by.
There were fish to see...
And then a lazy float back
Reflections...
Soos told us she heard the monkeys, and there they were not far from the landing.
After 4 hours on the river, I was surprised to see Tina and Nan wanting to take a hike. Wonder why they’re carrying that paper?
Pulling the kayaks back to the parking lot was a little tough. Pull Nan, pull!
