Another burp in the road

Postby ali1257 » Thu Jan 27, 2011 2:18 pm

Well we finally got on the road about 3:00 yesterday afternoon with the plan to drive till we got tired as we were going to boondock (read free) for the night.

Well we went up one steep hill and the home started struggling. Once going down hill it went just fine. Another steep hill and it chugged and sputtered. Then we got on I90 and headed up the pass to Snoqualmie and it just didn't want to climb so we made the decision to stop at our mechanics for the night, as he was closed when we got here at 6:15 p.m. and let him take a gander at it in the morning.

Well it is now 11:15 and he hasn't had a chance to look at it yet, though he thinks it is the fuel filter or something electronic in the back by the fuel pump. Ron is dealing with him.

As some of you know I started getting sick on Sunday and woke up Monday with a full blown cold so have tried to rest between things. Since we had no power and I ran the battery down on the computer and mifi I went to bed about 7:00 p.m. last night and slept till 9:30 this morning. Though I did get up with Ron at 7;15, got dressed and crawled back under the covers. That was so in case they were working on the motor home when I woke up I would not be embarrassed to be half dressed or half naked, whichever way you looked at it. I did go back to sleep till 9;30.

Came into the mechanics office about 10;00 and got myself plugged in, charging the battery to the computer and the mifi and have been here ever since :D

Hope they get things figured out soon. Our first goal/time line is to be in Lewiston, ID by 3:00 p.m. tomorrow so Ron can go to Brandon's basketball game. If I am still not feeling well I will hang out in the motor home and get more rest so I have the weekend with the grands. Need to get those hugs.

That's all from this spot on the map for now. I have thought about opening a fund "donate to the Wandering Workentins' so they can get to Hondo, TX to actually start making some moolah"

They just found a bad solenoid near the carberator (sp) that we didn't know was bad. So looking at that as a good thing. I laid down for about an hour but could not shut my mind off so am back in the mechanics waiting room using their power to be on the computer. They are checking something else to do with fuses or something. Can y'all tell I am not an auto mechanic??? Will update this latest saga when I know more.

I think its more like a BIG FART!!!!

We will be here at least till tomorrow sometime...they have to pull the fuel tank (and we have two so they may have to pull both of them) and do something with the fuel pump and fuel line.

So I have sent out my prayer requests for peace overall, for me not to WORRY about the $$ to pay for this. We were cutting it close with what we have to get to Texas and this will definitely take a chunk out. Will be talking with Ron about an alternate route that is way less miles except I am going to Lewiston to get one more hug/kisses from those grands. Another long story about my granddaughter, son and his girlfriend about NOT seeing Opal while we were home in Blaine and that we bought her a little something for her birthday - that turned into a big fiasco...another major stressor!

Anyway, will update more when we know more...at least we will have power tonight.

Well we are still here at the mechanics. They are working on the home as I write. Wanted to let you know that God is answering our prayers - I woke without a headache this morning - first time in 4 days so that is a good thing. Will let you know what is happening once we know something.

Ali

So glad to hear that YOUR health is getting better. And sounds like the RV's health is on the mend. I'm sending prayers and good thoughts out to the universe to fix the BIG FART without too much cost! :D

We have arrived at Clarkston, WA (Lewiston, ID). It cost us $681 for the repairs. With it taking so long we thought it would be closer to $1000. three things had to be fixed: bad solenoid - now it turns right over and doesn't hesitate to start, the fuse to the heater is fixed and the biggie was the electronic relay switch to get the gas thru the fuel pump up to the engine. We were on the road at 2:00 this afternoon and arrived here at a little past 8 p.m. Our ETA when we left North Bend was 7:06 p.m. so we didn't do to bad with a couple of potty breaks and once to get gas and make lunch.

Thank you all for your encouragement the last couple of days as we waited, wondered, prayed and contemplated things.

Good news you are on the road again and also the cost was under your estimate. Safe continued travels.
