FL GTG, January 2011

Let's get together!

Getting ready to head over to the cabin for the first Potluck.....and then tomorrow I think we just graze all day. If it rains we will at least be together warm and dry......

Before the rig visits this morning some of us headed out for a nice walk. That way when the dogs complain about being left out tonight we will remind them that they did get that walk... "What Walk...I don't remember any walk...."

Susan, Liz, Beth and Wendy with their puppers heading off towards the river.....

Image

Yep, talking and watching the beautiful folage...and saying things like, "If Birdie were here she would now which bird makes that sort of sound..."
Image

No swimming here, but Stuart said that he could at least wade in the water and get a drink. It is warm work scanning the forests for critters even if the GHL wouldn't let him chase anything.
Image

Image

Yes, we want to kayak this river. Hoping to on Wednesday.....

Image

Image

Then we gathered around to wander across the campground in search of campers to invade. This on is Nan's.

Image

Apparently she had way too much time on her hands....It was beautifully staged like an RV show....complete with the wine and glasses and the special effect of the waterfall in the the table. It was very very nice though. :)

Image

And only at an Open House could we all get so interested in fine plumbing options. :)

Image

Herschel was very patient waiting for me to tour the rigs but he wasn't always sure that I returned as fast as I should.

Great photos, as always, Tina....Herschel is so patient....but I could tell he was ready to go.... ;) Glad you all have the cabin for tomorrow's rainy day.....suppose to rain here, too....I have 2 days off, so I feel your pain.... But the company is good and I'm sure there'll be games and cards....Have fun...

Alice, hate to tell you, but you'll have to stand in line....Everyone wants to take Herschel home!! Me thinks tho, after much observation, that Herschel and the GHL are pretty much inseperable.

Belle is with Sunshinecruiser who we hope will be able to stop by tomorrow. Sunshinecruiser, as you will remember, had other matters that took precedence.

A few more pics of the rig tours...
Nan’s craft show

Peggy’s Roadtrek

We met a Canadian couple with a 1989? RT, over 200,000 km on it...still going strong. Didn’t get a picture of it though.

Wendy’s rig

On to the cabin...

The GTG banner in place

Sarah was in charge of baking the Lasagna and thought she broke the stove...

Lots of...too much food

Then it was time to play the game that Mitch created for us....”Name That Pet.” Participants had to match the forum member with their pet names.

Everyone was calling Mitch mean names for her challenging choices in the game. In the end, Beth was declared the winner with only 3 wrong. Thanks Mitch for the fun challenge. I don’t care what they say about you.

Next Nan had some hand made surprises for everyone. First she explained how southern women don’t sweat, they “glo.” So we all got a “glo” towel!

Some finished the evening chatting around the inside fireplace, others around the outside campfire. It was a beautiful warm sunny day, and mild this evening.

Tomorrow we look forward to our day trippers, and so glad to hear that Carolyn/Sunshine Cruiser will be coming.

Mitch, you thought I'd know all the rig names - I did better with pets. Now, I must confess - I only had 2 wrong :) - had 4 that I wasn't sure of - so got lucky and guessed 2 of them correctly. You did real good Mitch. This one was a struggle - probably because so many have more than one pet - and some don't talk about theirs as much as others of us. (I obviously talk a lot about Peaches - I don't think anyone got that one wrong.)

It was a good night and we had a guest - you'll see her in at least one of Liz's pics above. Molly, who met Kathleen last winter - then Kathleen introduced Molly and me when she realized we both were going to work for Amazon - so Molly and I were neighbors and became friends that couple months - well she came and joined us tonight. We all pestered her about joining. I doubt she will - but we'll continue working on her.

Neat pics, there are a few I don't recognize in the group. Great "Glo" towels.

I can't believe yall didn't all win that game, Mitch sent it to me in an email and I got 100% without cheating!!! I'm gonna guess my furbaby was one that threw people for a loop! :D
