THE ADVENTURES OF SUE AND THE FURRY CREW'S SCRAPBOOK

A few inquiring minds have been asking for pictures of my scrapbook project that I have been working on this winter. Now that I have completed it as far as I can go for now, here it is. The picture qualilty may not to great on some of them due to the glare on the plastic insert pages. But at least you have some idea of what I have been up to. i think the pages will pretty well speak for themselves, so I will only insert an explanation where one might be needed. Anyone want more info, got questions etc. whatever, ask away. All of the pictures in this book are posted in various threads on this site with the exception of my TT's. I accidently removed them from Photobucket and hence the thread. Will repostthem in spring.

This is the scrapbook I picked out. The leaves and vine theme kind of fits into a camping theme I thought. The picture is of sunset I took while camping this summer.




This next page is titled "How It all Began" and kind of chronicles how I got started into this RVing thing. It's hard to get close enough to make it readable, but if anyone is instrested, I can type it as a seperate post, or into this one.




The blank page on the left is for posting of some interior shots I need to take as soon as I can take them later this spring. They are replacing some I took earlier that weren't the greatest.

























Although hard to see in the one picture, "the neighbors" are a flock of Canada geese who spent the time in the canal out of the wind.


The left page contains the "A Look Back at The First Year" the which I posted under it's own thread in General Talk. The blank page next to it, is for 2011 when I figure out just how I want to start it.


This next page is of my TT, sitting, waiting for spring and then we will continue from there.


I didn't really have anything particular in mind when I started the book other than keeping it in chronological order. Just went to the craft stores and started finding little things, paper etc. as I went along and just let my imagination flow. I'm sure that the local Hobby Lobby here appreciated my business. Hope you enjoyed looking at it.

Really nice job, Sue, you will enjoy that for years, adding to it and then just looking back over it.

You know you need to carry that in the r.v.? When you're talking of the parks and places you've been , you'll have
pix to show those you're chatting with.

Thanks for the effort that whole thing took. Even if you did enjoy being in those places where you took the pictures. It was still work to do everything in one way or another.

Now ya got me thinking.... ??????? Are "online" scrapbooks possible? Or is it something that would have to be saved/downloaded to the computer?

Yes Echo, online scrapbooks are possible. It's called a Blog If you have one, you can do whatever you want with it. Liz's Blog is really great and in a way, her personal scrapbook of memories. The only disadvantage to them though, is that you have to have a computer handy if you want to share them with somebody when you are ont on a computer. At least with a scrapbook, you can sit at a picnic table and look at pictures or in a house or wherever. Either way, it's great. I have been thinking of starting a blog myself, but this time of year, it's gets kind of dull with same old winter weather and not doing anything exciting like camping, going to GTG's etc. Now, you on the other hand are havng all kinds of fun out there with your TT, Kelly and all the things that have happened to you this winter. So you have lots of "fodder" to write about

And yes, Lenora, doing this thing isn't cheap. I did however luck out in that Hobby Lobby is always having sales and I was able to get a lot of my page decorations at 50% off.

Yeah but with being full time and still having stuff to go thru and get rid of so much I would like something that isn't physical to carry except the laptop. I never know what to write in a dang blog even tho I do have one. And wanted something more that just pix on photo bucket.

WOW!! Google and ye shall see! Googled online scrapbooks and there's a whole bunch of choices to choose from!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeee! Gonna be checking them out!!! And there's a bunch of "FREE" ones! YAY!!!

Actually, Echo, I keep a journal when I take a big trip--mainly because I would never remember where I had been or what I had done if I didn't. (Memory not what it used to be, to say the least!) I take my laptop everywhere I go, so I do it in Word every night, and when I get back, I stick in small photos and illustrations. I don't know if my kids and grandchildren really care, but someday I figure maybe they will want to know what grandma did in her old age. Wouldn't it have been wonderful if my grandparents had done something similar????

The other thing I did for my very young grandchildren, and even for my kids, is to write a sort of life story. I grew up with a ton of cousins (26 first cousins on just one side of the family) and my kids hardly had any extended family. I wrote about my childhood, aunts and uncles, cousins, and my only set of grandparents--what we did and how much fun we had all together. Someday, I hope they appreciate it. So far, no one has said, "Thanks, mom." I also inserted photos in this document.

I definitely will do a blog, however, when I retire and finally am able to get my RV and get on the road full-time.

Sue, there are TONS of companies that will help you create a digital scrapbook. Creative Memories seems to be one of the main ones, and they can be every bit as intricate as a "hand-made" one. You have to buy the software from Creative Memories, and then you can add different "packages" of paper, embellishments, etc., for small fees. Once you've created your book -- in many different sizes -- you upload it to the Creative Memories website, and usually within a couple of weeks you've got a wonderful book, either hardcover or soft.

I've gone from being a traditional scrapbooker to a digital one simply because the books are thinner, lighter weight, and easier to lug around to show people. Love 'em!

For someone as comfortable as you are on the computer I'd think that you might enjoy putting them together. One of the other things I like about making them digitally is that I only need my computer (assuming that I've downloaded all of my pictures onto it, or on to my portable hard drive) and I can work on them in the evening when I'm camping. Much easier than dragging all of my scrapbook stuff along with me!

I was thinking that someone ought to take the pictures everyone takes from each GTG and create small books for the women to purchase if they'd like. Might be fun project for someone who enjoys putzing around with that kind of stuff.

I've got 3 traditional scrapbooks that I wouldn't trade for anything, but have really enjoyed making my digital ones and hearing how impressive they are from those who have seen them.
