BLUSTERY FRIDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

BLUSTERY FRIDAY

Postby Colliemom » Fri Jan 21, 2011 8:48 am

Morning all,

Blustery day here at the 45th. Cloudy with light snow. Temp: 7 degrees above. Wind chill: -7 below. Winds NW 12-25 mph and gusting. Forecast: depending on where you live, anywhere from hardly nothing to 3-6 inches of snow. Lake Effect Snow Watches and Warnings out for 18 counties but not this one.

After the forecast calling for 3-6 inches of snow, possibly more for us and being under a Lake Effect Snow Warning all night till 5:00 a.m. for snow plus blowing and drifting, we got a measly one inch if even that. But the wind is cold and it's going to be a day to stay inside. Of course later on the girls are going to want a walk regardless, so we will bundle up and take a short one. After this weekend we will warm back up to more seasonal 20's and low 30's again.

So this northerner is going to clean house this morning, change my bed, do a load of laundry and finish the final touches on my scrapbook. I do not plan on going anywhere today.

Mitch, I loved your pictures of the forum being down on Wednesday. That's just the way I felt too. I checked periodically all day too and nothing was happening. So glad to see it up and running again by yesterday morning. Guess it's my addiction too. Certainlyl miss my daily contact with what everyone is doing and all the happenings and my daily laughs.

Lenora, prayers go out to your DS and BIL and I am so glad to hear that your eye is doing great. I've had two surgeries done on mine too and it has made a big difference. Although I still have to wear glasses though, as I was younger when I had my first eye done. Implants were just coming out and they weren't doing them on younger folks cause they didn't know what the long term implications were at that time. So I function fine with a cateract lens in my glasses. My other eye has an implant but the vision isn't that great even with it. I had scar tissues and all that back there, so no 20/20 for me. Maybe someday it will change. Dr. said he could put an implant in my other eye now, but is reluctant to do so cause of a possiblily of blood vessels not healing properly after a second eye surgery. Calls it occuluded vision. And I don't want to run that risk either cause it's my good sight eye. And I"m also glad to hear that your scalp surgery came out so good too. Before long here, you will be off and running and all in one piece.

I'm still catching up on the forum, so if I missed anybody's happenings, adventures, etc., not intended. Right now I am going to get this body in motion and get busy. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Just stopping in quickly. About ready to pull out and hitch up the toad to make my trip to Wildwood today. Yeah! Can't wait.

Safe travels to all on the roads, and safe stayings for all sitting still! Enjoy your day.

Good morning ladies,

Enjoyed ORS chat last night...first time I've been on in ages. I never seem to remember at the right time.

I'm getting lots of awning practice...never really used one before, even though I had one on the Pleasureway. Put it out last night under Soo's tutelage and with a little WD40, back in because of weather front coming thru, and now back out this morning by myself in light mist, but no high winds predicted. For the most part it's pretty easy, so I can see myself using it now, especially when parked for more than 1 night.

Looking forward to Kathleen, Sarah, and Tina coming in today for the GTG, and plan to gather this evening at my house for dinner & cards. (More room than in my rig, lol.)

Cold front should be passed by this afternoon with clearing skies. Not too cold...60s I think.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning to All - No fog this morning - hopefully we'll head inland to another tiny town we haven't been to yet - or not......
Noticed that it is -6 degrees back home in Indiana. Our friend - house sitter will be joining us here in Mazatlan Monday for a week - bet he is glad to be getting to warmer weather. He is thinking about moving here when he retires.
I got my NASCAR fix yesterday - happened to find "live" testing from Daytona on the internet - Whoopee! Today it is rained out.
The Driver is laughing at me - he says I'm turning my blog into a JOB - but I enjoy sharing out experiences and hope everyone else does too.
Had Jennie washed yesterday here in the campground - 200 Pesos - about 16 US dollars with the exchange rate. Also had a big load of laundry done, including a couple of throw rugs - 250 pesos - rather expensive we thought. But they do it by weight.
Only took 3 pictures yesterday - off day I guess.
Hope everyone gets to the Florida GTG without incident and that the weather cooperates this year. Lots of pictures.
Safe travels and warm weather wishes for all

GOOD AFTERNOON, EVERYONE!

Liz is off to her house to put together the lasagna dinner she is feeding everyone tonight, and she left me her WiWi or WiMi or MiWi, or whatever, to use while she is away! I will definitely have to invest in one of these things for road travel, if and when I get something fun to road travel in! Kath is due in sometime this afternoon, so I have an eye out for her arrival.

Liz and I went for a neat walk with the dogs this morning on the Sink Hole Trail in this beautiful park. There is an actual sink hole (massive) which seems to be filled with trilling tree toads (what we call spring peepers back home) who were probably motivated to sing their mating calls after last night's heavy rains. We had lots of rain and thundershowers most of the night, which made me really appreciate being in this home-on-wheels rather than a tent! Morning came with no more rain, a comfy temperature of 63 here, so far, so the walk was done in perfect weather. So many new trees and vegetation and animals to learn the names of on the walks here. The signs they have on the trails are very helpful. We also saw an old cowpoke village from the 1800s, the buildings of which they transported here from their original location to put together a walk-through village. Cracker cowpokes people is what I think they called them back in the day, and Liz says it's from the CRACKS the whips made as they did their daily cowpoking!

I will try to include a couple pics of my campsite here, which is HUGE in the back....like my own mini woods! Right now, I am eating a lunch-breakfast, and I will get back on later to post pics in the GTG room.

Carol, you have had as much snow as the Adirondacks this year, I believe! You need to make a getaway from shoveling another year! And Sue----I saw that International Falls's temperature was scheduled to be -46! Will that head your way?? Bet it heads for my northern home! It sounds as if Cedar and Kathy will have a good weekend, as usual! Sing pretty for me! I COULD get out my guitar and at least tune it, I suppose!

Happy travels, everyone, and I will see some of you soon!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

just a quick hello and good morning, although its almost noon, I've stopped by home
to let the girls out since they are still adjusting to their new lodgings, they have not
quite settled into a routine yet. My work schedule mixed with DS work schedule causing
a little bit of unrest for everybody. I'm sure it will iron its self out. He's sleeping now, and
his alarm clock will go off soon. I'm trying to be really really quiet so as not to wake him
up early. One of my students didn't go in this morning so the afternoon break is a little
longer for me to get a few things done, hense my little hello.
Enjoy your day, this is my long one, job one and two today and I'll be home after 8:30.

Hello Everyone,

It is SOOO cold here in Chicago, I decided to work from home. I am multitasking and getting a lot loaded into the RV.
I packed up my kitchen and most all of my clothes, so I will be "camping" in my house for now!
Now I have to go out to the RV and arrange all the "stuff" I just put in there. I turned on the heat and hopefully I can get it
all done this afternoon. I want to make sure I arrange things so I can find what I need once I am living in the RV fulltime.
Also, I will be trying out the new video camera and posting a "tour" after I get it all straightened out, so it looks nice again!

I have only 10 workdays left, and two full weeks from today I take off!

Wish I could get a renter before I leave, but luckily I have someone here to look after the place once I leave.
The market is tight, a buyer is too much to ask, but a renter...that is reasonable. I am praying someone
comes soon!

I am jealous of the lasagna eaters! and of the $16 RV wash!
Hope everyone has a great day, hopefully I will have a video for all to view by tomorrow...

Good morning (barely!)! Slept in until 11am this morning! Sure felt good to be back in my wonderful, cozy bed! That motel was great, but the bed was hard as a rock and the pillows about the same, so am glad to be back in my comfy bed!

Worked all day yesterday and now don't have a day off until Monday. But work is money$$$! Today is payday and I just checked my account and my check was smaller than I expected, so I am hoping that is because they have already started deducting my health insurance, which would mean I am already covered now! I get so nervous without health insurance!

No more big trips for awhile. Gotta get caught up with bills and such before spending any more money. Am hoping to start getting some W4's (or is it W2"s? Can never remember which is which!) in the mail so I can get my taxes done right away. I contacted the places I worked at last year to give them my new address so the forms would get to me ASAP. Hopefully, I will get a decent refund. Want to pay off some bills.

Still have to post photos of my trip. Am currently going thru the pics on my camera to delete the bad ones first and then will upload them onto Photobucket and then post them on my blog.

It is almost 70 here already, with mid 70's predicted for the next week or so. So much better than the below zero temps (for highs!) and constant snow back in Minnesota! They have had 60 inches of snow so far in Minneapolis this year! Another 30 inches (not hard to do with Feb and March still ahead), and they will break an all time record for seasonal snowfall!

Very sad to hear about Sparkle yesterday, but she fought a good fight and is now free of pain and enjoying life on the other side! Sounds like she has already been busy with her antics on here! I am sure she decided to finally "let go", so she could be part of the FL GTG and cause a little mayhem down there!

Have a great day!

PS> Speaking of "blustery"...yesterday they were saying on the radio that it was 74 degrees and blustery! What an oxymoron!

Lenora,
I had a client/neighbor back in MN who was in her late 80's when she got her eye's done last year. She was SO upset afterward!! She said she never knew she had so many wrinkles in her face! She was very unhappy! I thought she looked great for her age!

Hope the second eye goes as good as the first one!
