Birdie's Road Home

Postby Birdie » Thu Jan 20, 2011 4:15 pm

Well, I have made the trip to Oklahoma. Left my Bunkie, my RV, in Louisana and drove here to SE Oklahoma. Travel was quite nice and thankfully uneventful. I did spend some time Wednesday with my Mom. She is still not eating, but seems to wander between being quite coherent and then her mind wanders to the edge of the black hole. She keeps repeating everyone has to die some day and now is as good a time for her as any. She is now in her 6th day of not eating.

I did ask her if she was ready to go meet up with Daddy and the other kids. Her answer - I may not go where they are. May be a trying time these next few days. So keep me in your prayers, ladies.

Weather here was varied today. Started with high winds about 4 a.m. and continued with those until about 8 when it start icing and then the snow started about 9:30. By noon, the ice and snow was gone, but it was bitterly cold. They are predicting we might be around 15 degrees tonight/morning. Then we will have good weather until Sunday when we could get some more of this stuff. So I will be cooped up here, kind of like Carolinagals snow prison, but it might be frigid temps here that keep me in the house.

Those on the road, you gotta be careful and drive safely. I am really going to miss not getting to Florida for the GTG. But maybe we can have some left overs a little later.

I'm sorry that you are having to watch your Mom's decline, but am happy you can be with her at this time. I'm sure when she is coherent she's awfully glad to see you there. Blessings and prayers.

Birdie, it's not unusual for a person on the edge to stop eating...the body seems to know, somehow, that it's not needed at this time. Prayers flying to you on Angel Wings. Try and stay warm, take care of the caregiver. Hugs, my friend.

Sending virtual good thoughts and prayers, Birdie, for both you and you mom. She's so lucky to have a daugher like you to hold her hand and be with her during the clearer moments. Glad you made it to Oklahoma with no problems. I'm still holding the fort. I put your plants inside because it's suppose to be in the mid 30's tonight. They are predicting low 30's Friday night and maybe Saturday night. I'll make sure the heat is coming on.

My prayers are with you and your mother.
