DIGGING OUT TUESDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

DIGGING OUT TUESDAY

Postby Colliemom » Tue Jan 18, 2011 7:46 am

Good Morning Everyone,

As you probably guessed from my title for the day, we got dumped with snow last night. I don't know just how much, but my guess if probably around 6 inches at most. The wind was gusting all day yesterday and night and blew it around quite a bit. So there can be a couple of inches here and a foot over there kind of thing. 85 schools in this part of the state are closed today. So parents wil have lots of "labor" to clean out drives etc. And afterwards the kids will have lots of snow to play in. The winter sports businesses will be jumping for joy.

The United States National Snowboarding team is also here, training on that half pipe at the Otsego Club where so many teams trained for the Olymics last year. The U.S. Silver and Bronze medalists from the Olympics are with them. Later on, a couple of foreign teams are also supposed to be coming in to train for the Winter X games. So the snow will be welcomed there too.

So I know where my morning will be later on. It's just getting daylilght out there, so I am not going out for awhile. Will let the snow taper off and then will haul out the equipment and get busy. Need to do my neighbors drive today too. Snow still on it from the last dump, so it's going to be deep over there. But my blowr can handle it.

In the meantime, I am going to work on my scrapbook for awhile. I"m 3/4 of the way through it now. Making me want to get out and hit the road again, thinking of all those camping trips I did last year for the first year of having my TT. Will sit patientlly here and wait till the time comes.
But I "m already thnking of how I am going to load the TT this year. May make a few changes in where things were last year.

Guess I had better bring in the "girls" as they are out laying in the snow on my deck. They probably want in by now. So I'm off to start this day. Hope you all have a nice day out there.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND EVERYONE!

I am happy for your snow, Sue! Cold with no white stuff to play in is no fun at all! Will look forward to some fluffy white pictures as your day progresses!

Today is dawning with a lot of fog here in the sunny south. The rainstorms, thunderstorms, and tornado warnings of yesterday are over and gone out to sea. We got some wonderful rain right here, and the birds, Anoles, toads, frogs, and more wildlife are reveling in the moisture. I swear the pond came up about a foot! Today I will pack the truck with my canoe and bike, and other things I will want to pack into the trailer for the upcoming GTG. If my trailer tire sensor shows up today, I will close up this house for a week, or so, and head over to St.Cloud to get ready to roll. If it doesn't show today, I may wait for the mail tomorrow, and then head over.

My daughter's college roommate, Alyson, and her husband and two young boys came from Disney for a visit last evening, and it was fun to see them. They met up at my northern home one fourth of July fling we always had up there, staying in one of my tents in the yard. Ray is one of my nephews' childhood friends, and, actually, a guy I had picked for my daughter! However, once I saw Alyson and Ray together, I knew a match had been made! Oh well....the best laid plans of mothers and men.....etc. etc.!

I am feeling even better today than I did yesterday, although the talking I did last night made my cough nasty sounding while my friends were here! Guess I'll have to take it easy on the gabbing fo a while, and just use the electronic methods of communicating, a-la chatroom!

I hope that all who are on the roads, wherever you may be, are finding decent travel weather. Is anyone else going to be at the GTG as early as the 20th, Thursday? Or will Molly and I be the only ones there? No matter....I need the extra time to get all set up anyway.

Time to have another cup of Hazlenut coffee, get dressed, and begin organizing and packing. All of you who will be in Ocala soon, I can't WAIT to meet you! Have a wonderful Tuesday!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good morning all! I am busy cleaning house for important guests, and making preparations for the GTG as well. Soos, I will be there Thursday, and I believe Kathleen is checking in Friday. I also expect Sarah and Tina to land at my house on Friday, so you'll have company. We're tentatively planning a drive to Gainesville on Saturday to check out some Roadtreks for new member Sare at a dealership there. We'll also be passing by that truck camper for sale in Orange Lake. Want to come along? I expect we'll be taking my car.

Getting excited, can't wait to see everybody!

Good morning all,

In Chicago we have had ice and freezing rain, then it would thaw and refreeze. I almost fell several times walking a short distance llast night to my car from the train. The dogs made a mess in the back yard with the mud, but it is expected to get around 5 later this week, so mud will not be an issue.

I am going into work late this morning, and hopefully the snow will stop by the time I get downtown. I take the train, so I only have to drive about 2 miles.

The gtg sounds like fun, I am hoping to get to go to one sometime. I am guessing there are many throughout the year?

I guess it is time to get going, hope everyone has a great day!

It's so exciting to hear about all of the preparations being made to travel to the GTG. I am living vicariously through reading all the posts. I love reading the descriptive posts by Sue and Soos, y'all make what some feel is mundane and maybe even ugly, seem so beautiful. Reading these help me while in my overcast funk. Thank you.

Soos, I hope that you start feeling better real soon (I'm having Hazelnut coffee also, yum).

Sue, I love scrapbooking also. Would love to see some of your work (I am always looking for new ideas :) . Do you have pictures of any of them?

Hope everyone has a wonderfully blessed day wherever you are.

Good Morning Soos and Liz... yes I will be pulling in on Friday... Whoopeeeeee will be so glad to see everyone... today I will have to walk again... I am so glad that Jere helped me get over the hump of walking... he is on a trail somewhere near Orlando...
Other than walking I need to do more cleaning... all I did for the past week was visit, cook, visit, do dishes, visit, do laundry, visit guess you get the idea... any of you that have a prayer list please pray for Jere he is just skin and bones his cancer must be slowly eating him...
I cannot make up my mind about changing parks... the one I looked at about 15 miles south of here is much nicer but $70 more a month... not sure that is worth it... I do have friends here in the church and the park management is also very nice... just throwing this out to you my friends... I only have two months left in Fl... some of that time will be on the trail with Jere not actually with him but parking and fetching him from different spots...
I hope everyone has a super day...
Kathleen

Morning ladies!

I'm enjoying seeing some of the newbies posting more regular so we can get to know them better.

I sure wish I was closer to FL to go RV looking with Liz and the gals. Sounds like a wonderful day!
I'm getting excited, too, for the FL GTG. So looking forward to hearing and seeing all the details.

The stitches on my forehead hairline are smarting this AM. Every facial expression seems to make the stitches pull, but I'll take the short term pain just to know the cancer is gone and hopefully won't come back. I'm to have a recheck in 6 mons.

This AM at 9:30 I'm being picked up by the clinic where I'm getting my eye surgery. Prayers it all goes smoothly and healing is swift.

I also got word that my BIL is in the hospital in Joliet, IL. He fell on the ice last month and hit his head, had a headache every since. He's very stubborn about seeing the Dr. Well, when he went in for his yearly stress test physical, all heck broke loose and he ended up getting a CT of his head and they found a brain bleed. He's been in the hospital ever since. They are doing CT scans almost daily and using different meds (taking him off his Plavix) to try to stem the bleed to avert surgery. The results have been a high BP which isn't good. They have moved him into intensive care to keep a closer eye on him.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Am finishing my ? I think it's my second cup of coffee. Drinking it slowly and enjoying every drop! ;) It must be pretty good too as Kelly snitched a cup to go with her cookies.

It is simply beautiful outside today with the sunshine and warm temp. We can't even make a move in here that Shade isn't underfoot to go back outside too. She goes out, sniffs the air, growls at the cat for attacking her and then lays down to toast her little bones!

Kelly is going over to take a shower then when she is done we are heading off to do some errands. Need to go to the grocery store, bank, get gas and then go get propane. Grrrrrr, ran out and couldn't go to get any. So it will be a nice change of pace and of course change of view!  Other than that, it's the same old, same old. Don't know how I maintain this hectic life style!

I so envy all of you going to the FL GTG. We both wish that we could be there! Oh well maybe next year? We can hope anyway.

Ok, gonna get and go read the other postings to catch up on things. Everybody have a great day and if your on the road going to the GTG or anywhere else be sure to be careful and safe.

Love to all

I'm going to have to post more so I can learn everyone's names...Some of you are so good in posting several messages together referring to each one's name. I'll keep trying but excuse if I call someone the wrong name or simply omit someone I had wanted to include.
Firstly, I'm very happy to hear of Lenora's good news with the cancer out of the way...I know this feeling of learning it has invaded the body and the haste we feel to get rid of it as quickly as possible. Best wishes with the remainder of your health issues, removal of cataracts next on the agenda..you have lots of good heartfelt wishes and prayers coming your way.
Laura, I think most of us have had moments such as you're experiencing. If only we could see our half full cup instead of half empty but I agree that[b]
the first step in getting past this is to get a clean bill of health. If nothing else you will know how blessed you are to get this and with it out of the way you will know what to do next, maybe counseling but as I said with my message to Lenora, you have lots of good friends who are behind you every step of the way. This is such a wonderful forum. I am a private person, have never opened up that easily. I believe I could open up with all of you and know it wouldn't be deemed as a silly problem. Thank you in advance if and when I need a few shoulders.

Cold, fog and rain here all day, but it is above freezing and all except a few little spots of snow are gone at last.

Lenora - Sure happy to learn the surgery went well.

Ava - Great news on your swift relocation to safer quarters.

Sure wish I could leave tomorrow but not going to happen. Looks as if I will have to drive both Thursday and Friday in the rain. Just means going a bit slower, I guess. Lots left to do and even more being left undone but those chores will be waiting for me when I return.

Best get back to work.

Stay safe out there.

Typing this with one eye as the other is still numb and taped shut. Needs a couple more hours and then I have to start drops every 4 hrs to keep it moist and antibotics going. Surgery went really well. I was in and out in 45 mins! I really like the clinic. The surgeon asked if he could pray with me before he started. Wow!

My head stitches from yesterday's surgery are throbbing, but not bleeding or weeping so all is well there.

Ok, seeing double, need to scoot. Hugs and thanks. I'm thinking of all your needs, too, with love.

Lenora, glad that surgery is now behind you. Wow, you are certainly behind overhauled lately. That really is cool that the surgeon asked to pray with you first, sure would give a girl a peaceful feeling :D .

So glad the surgery went well....praying the same for the other one. What a special surgeon you have. How blessed you are!
