New to Posting

Postby Camping1949 » Sun Jan 09, 2011 3:16 pm

Hi All, I'm new at this posting, however not new to RVing. I'm on my 2nd motor home and love to travel. I've been in 49 of the 50 states with only Alaska left to visit. My new goal is to visit all the National Parks in my latest RV. I hope to retire in the next year or two. That will give me a chance to spend 3 weeks in Alaska. I live in Iowa and do like it however the older I get I'm not liking these winters. I live in a Townhome and plan to sell it and move into my RV for several years and travel the USA. I've been in sales for 30 years and have traveled Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Missouri over the years. Now I just have Iowa. I work for an Optical Wholesale Lab out of the Twin Cities and call on OD's, MD's and Opticians in the state of Iowa. I really like my company, I've been with them for 34 years and in the industry for 44 years. I have a 31 foot Jayco GreyHawk that I bought in July of 2009. I like it a lot and haven't had too many issues with the Motorhome, however will never buy from the Dealer (Des Moines RV). They have absolute no customer service skills what so ever. That could be a whole different post ;) . Well enough about me. I hope to post more often, however when the RV is put away for the winter and it's cold and snowing hard to think about RVing. 8-) Thanks for reading and I hope to get to know all of you better in the next few months.......

Welcome, Melinda! So glad you made it over to post and do an intro! And glad to have you part of this wonderful group of women. It sounds like you are an experienced rver - and hope you get that AK trip soon - BUT - I don't think 3 weeks is enough! I could have stayed way longer and left the US the end of May, returning mid-to-late-August! Don't cut that trip short if you don't have to. But if all you have is 3 weeks - go for it. You'll whet your appetite for the next trip :)

Jump in everywhere you want.

Glad you found us, Melinda. Assuming you've read some of the posts, so know what you're getting into  Sounds like you've had a lot of experience-not a newbie, for sure. Jump right in to post and don't forget, we LOVE pics as well. Yep, retirement will come before you know it. And, Beth is right, 3 weeks in Alaska will just whet your appetite. carold

Welcome, Melinda. Looking forward to hearing more about your travels/plans. I, like Beth, spent 2+ months on a trip to Alaska in 2009, and am planning to go back. Give yourself as much time as possible.

Welcome, Melinda !!! I sure hope you lurked for awhile so you know what you have gotten yourself into joining this bunch :o  :) If you want laughter, plenty of humor , and caring friends, you are sure in the right place. Alaska, is a Great place, I loved it and would love to go back for 5 or 6 months, but if 3 weeks is all you have, go for it. Then you'll know you must go back for the rest of it. If you drive your r.v. up, you won't have much time there, the trip up through Canada is wonderful too.

So glad you've joined us, and hope you will add your imput wherever it strikes you.

Safe and Happy Travels,
CArol :)
