On the Road Again

Postby Bethers » Sat Jan 08, 2011 6:56 pm

OK, with that terrible weather heading into Huntsville, I quickly rethought my plans and yesterday decided to leave today instead of sometime next week (when they'll either by frozen in with ice, or snowed in). I headed down a couple hundred miles today and stopped at CW - to discover that my heater that wouldn't work since shortly after getting to KY - is working. Since I was already paying them, he went ahead and pulled it out and made sure the sail switch was good - then he blew it out. Hopefully something was just "stuck" for lack of a better term.

Got back on the road and drove another maybe 60 or so miles - just got inside GA - knew dark was overcoming me, so stopped at this rv park. Luck was on my side. I'm in a pull through site for $18 :) Yes, I have my gas heater working, but that $18 includes electric, the only reason I wanted a cg tonight, so my electric heater (only one of them) is running.

Tomorrow will get into FL. Far enough south to miss the ice and snow which is even expected to hit where I'm at now! Some storm coming through, and I intend to stay ahead of it!

I got to have dinner with Sarah and Darlene last night - then went back and spent more time with Jean before leaving. Told her I'll be waiting now for her to come visiting me :)

Drive safe and try and keep ahead of that storm. Keep us posted where you are and what you're up to.

Glad the heater problem wasn't a serious one.
Do stay way ahead of this storm. Forecasters are still updating what we might expect - latest bad news is a low of 6 degrees Sunday night; whatever comes down better be snow! Ice now forecast as far south as Montgomery.
Stay safe ad warm.

Very wise choice, Beth!!!, I'm going to be setting right in the middle of it and sure wish I could leave. Did postpone dr. app. I had Monday as they say the roadways are going to be bad and thats way down into GA. and then parts north of me. Tomorrow when you get on the road, I would get as far south as I could into Fl.

So glad to hear your heater is working and ok. You may need it in Fl. , seems to be nice weather then freezing down there.

Safe travels, watch the wet roads, that they don't have black ice, you know about winter weather so let us know when you're where your going to be for awhile.

Hope you have a nice trip !!

safe travels my friend. Wise decision to get ahead of the weather. That's why our homes have wheels.

Keep safe my friend...that storm and weather is suppose to hit here tomorrow night, but we're suppose to get the rain part...but we're on the line forecast between the rain and the ice....being closer to the coast, keeps the weather at bay sometimes...guess we'll see...

Just one of the great reasons to living a jello life  Enjoy a slow travel towards the GTG. I'm suppose to fly out of Sarasota to Raleigh on Tuesday am. The weather doesn't seem to be cooperating. The RDU airport closed down while there during Christmas week; hoping if my flight is canceled, it's before I leave here and I'm not stuck sitting in the Charlotte airport. This is the first time I've not gone nonstop to Raleigh and maybe my last  carold
