Good morning Beth, other than the scathing article by the Courier Journal (of which I am so ashamed) how did you enjoy your time in Kentucky while at Amazon? Was the state park worth our checking out? Since we are new at the whole backing in, setting up camp with an RV thing, are the sites adequate for newbies do you think?

Did I read that you were in Alabama recently? We visited my mom-in-law in Fairhope in December and checking out some RV parks/resorts there. Whew, they are everywhere!! What area are you in?

Also, you seem to be the "go to" person for all things web related, when I start to photograph my travels, what is the best program to use for my pictures?

Sorry for all the inquiries, I am still learning how to search through posts for the answers. Please be patient with me :D

Other than the one bad article, the same paper also had a not-so-bad article in the business section. Unfortunately, most people don't understand workamping. And that journalist (hard to use that word for her) came in knowing what she wanted to write, and ignored anything said that didn't fit her agenda.

I liked that state park. There is a section of the park which you could "pull through" even tho all the sites are considered back-ins. There is an alley between rows there and I went in as a pull through even though I could have easily backed in. (the row with the closest site to the water #8 - may be other rows like that - but I wasn't paying attn). The manager of the park is really nice, bent over backwards for us Amazonians. Would have liked it even better if the warm weather had held - as I would have gotten my kayak out more than once. For me, having such a beautiful view with birds and deer, etc, made up for the long days (nights) working to a great extent.

Photo programs for your own use - any of them. For sharing on here? You just want to make sure to find one that will store the photos free and give you links to them to share in the forums (Like photobucket). If you do a blog, etc - there are many blog programs out there, many of them free to use. I happen to use Wordpress.

I'm a couple months behind on my blog - not a smart thing - as now I dread doing it - when I stay caught up, I love doing it. But while at Amazon, just didn't have the time or energy for it. When I do sit down with it, will do an entire post on my Amazon experience.

Morning Saretta,
Thanks for the welcome and welcome to you! Thankfully, I don't work outside my home at the present, so I take my own sabbaticals . Find myself playing on this darn computer more than I should, but it seems to be therapy for me.

My husband and I have tent camped at My Old Kentucky Home a few times and enjoyed it. I noticed that you are in the market for an RV, have you RV'd before ? If so, I was just wondering if you have visited many areas in Kentucky that you can recommend.

I am excited about the upcoming RV show in Louisville....and looking forward to hearing of your travels, seeing pics and getting to know you.

Hello again! No, I'm brand new to RV'ing. My extent of camping experience was back in me early married years and when my son was a toddler. I enjoyed it, but we didn't do enough to get really 'good' at it. I've been to Ft. Boonesboro to hike, kayak, walk dogs and there are always folks camping there...they must spend some length of time there as I hear they decorate up the grounds for July 4th & Halloween...very festive!

...so, as I search for class B's, I'm still trying to get used to the idea of having this type of commitment. One the one hand, I get intimidated by the purchase Vs use thing. Then, about the time I almost talk myself out of it, I find myself feeling blue thinking about the fun I'd miss! What a mess, huh? Guess I'll know when the it feels just right. But I sure would appreciate any comments anyone has on how to balance the cost/mileage break point. I have no idea! Just trusting and hoping I don't really mess up

Enjoy all the postings! Wish I could do more, but I teach at a local college & with the spring term starting up, I'll probably get pretty sporadic pretty quickly....bummer! I'll check in as much as I can.

You can't really balance the cost/mileage, etc. At least I can't. Although as a full-timer, it costs me less annually than living in a house or apt somewhere would. So in that sense I can balance it. As something you'll use occasionally - what is the worth to take these weekends/vacations, etc to you? To me that's priceless. Like the cameras I buy - or buying toys that many have - if you'll use it and enjoy it - that's the answer (for me, anyway).

I had never had an rv before either. Had most everyone I knew laugh at me when I bought mine, then gasp with dispair when I quit my job a month later and said I was going on the road for at least a year. They've all come around. And my initial thought was for weekends, etc - and I don't fault anyone who does that. For me, it got in my blood and I can't stop :)
