Deb,

Welcome! I too am new. I am 50 and single so I will be doing this by myself (with my 81 year old Mom.) It will be a great adventure and Yes, we can do it!

I have a Subaru Forester with a towing capacity of 2400 lbs. so I went with a teardrop camper. I googled the sport trac and it looks like you have 3500 lbs. to 7100 lbs towing capacity depending on the type of sport trac you have as well as the towing equipment.

You might want to check out fiberglass eggs. I have included a link to their website.

I am also including a link to Teardrops and Tiny Tears for some other ideas.

Welcome Deb, I am in Arkansas. I lived in NC and found our two states to be very similar except I'm landlocked. I think you'll find a terrific bunch of gals here, stay tuned and jump in when you want...I prefer to not tow something so my rig is 24' foot mh. Hope to see you here or there :D

Maybe this will be helpful. Don't know what year you have, but you should look up your specific vehicle.

Hi , guys, I have looked at 18 foot puma by forest river and a few pop ups on craigs list, I would really prefer travel trailer. The salesman I talked to knows what I am looking for and we are just waiting until new shipment comes in. Thanks for all the good advice and wisdom. I will definitely pay close attention to all your advice. Deb Hyatt (By the way, I edited out my cell #)

Welcome Deb! This is quite a group of crazy ladies...but they have lots of heart, plenty of advice, and did i mention heart? You joined a great group. I am relatively new and will be traveling alone sometimes too. That part of the whole RV life is a little scary, but if these ladies can do it so can you and I. Look forward to hearing more about your new adventure and your decision on what to buy! Good luck on the hunt... :D

(P.S. Be sure you read everthing from Mitch very carefully...she occasionally gets things confused <like confusing inches and feet!!>).

Welcome to the forum. Good luck with finding just the right TT for you. As others have said, you can do it on your own sans husband but you won't really be alone because lots of other RVers will be happy to help you along the way. You just have to get started.

Welcome Deb. Ditto what all have said. I would stay longer but Mitch is screaming and I'm scared. Bye for now. Linda

P.S. She said she was turning over a new leaf for 2011, see how long that lasted? HUH DO YA. Maybe 2 days, I was right it wouldn't last.

Thought, I honestly can't imagine 5 people in there on a rainy day.
But it's lightweight and easy to pull.

What kind of rig do you have?

Hi Deb,

I have a Rockwood Mini LIte 1809S by Forest River. I love this trailer. Has a small bathroom with shower, LOTS of inside storage space, a full slize bed, a sofa that makes a bed, a table that can be set up or taken down for eating on, or even taken out side if you want. A frig, stove with oven and a large wardrobe cabinet with storage drawers. You can see the pictures in Show OFF Your Rigs, under Colliemoms New Rockwood or something like that. Also the floorplan is on the www.ForestRiver.com website, down under Rockwood. I don't know what your towing capacity is but this trailer, fully loaded is about 4500 lbs. Tows like a dream. I've had no issues and the workmanship is supburb. The thing that attracted me to this one was the slide out which makes more room and lots of windows so it's bright and airy and doesn't feel "small".

There are a lot of small trailers out there to choose from. The more you can see in person, the better it is. If you are limited in dealers around you, then you might have to look within the brands they carry to find one that might suit you. Of rind one floor plan you like and Google up a dealer somewhere near you. Good luck and continue asking question any time.

Hi, for those who are interested in my shopping experience for a small travel trailer, I went to Tom Johnson in Concord, NC. Looked @ Dutchman model#196RD. Really like it. However, I am not done shopping, waiting on more new arrivals. Check it out, let me know what you think, Thanx. Deb
