Visiting in Charlotte, NC

Remington here......Herschel didn't get to come this time but I hear that he is sitting on a couch snuggled up to a teenager staying warm back in Ohio.

The GHL came down here with the husband for Christmas. I don't like crowds but I got to stay in me kennel when everybody came for dinner. By now (Sunday night) I am even brave enough to stay in the same room with Kate, Lucas and that gray cat named Sam that scares me almost as much as I seem to scare him :? :) Thought I would send off some pictures since Herschel told me I would have to be in charge. What pressure.

I did get to make the hike up Crowder's mountain. This is a picture of Lucas, Hannah dog, and Kate.

Image

Kate and Lucas at the top of the mountain. They were very kind and waited several times for the GHL to catch her breath. Me, I kept up pretty well all around. Herschel will be proud when he hears of this.

Image

Crowder's Mountain kind of sticks up from flat nothing.....
Image

Sort of hard to tell but these rocks at the top of the mountain were interesting with the water erosion....

Image

And then OMG it actually snowed here.....I am not a fan of snow. These short legs make it not fun. But here in Charlotte folks seemed to think it was nice, even if they didn't know how to drive in it.

Image

Image

Image

Then there was the crazy Hanna dog playing with her blue ball in the back yard. She is two years older than Herschel but boy she can still move out there.

Image

Image

But I have to tell you, this standing out in the snow can be a little cold on the feet.

Image

I don't care if I do blend in well with the plants......I could enjoy sitting inside with some heat about now..... My friend Mitch wouldn't make me sit out here.

Image

But Lucas and the GHL did make some neat snow balls for Hannah. Apparently she likes to play with large snow balls in her spare time also....

Image

And after playing hard in the snow.....Hannah got to curl up next to her girl and get warm.... Me? I snuggled the the GHL's lap so the scary gray panther cat wouldn't get me. Got to rest up. I think we are suppose to try to get back to Ohio tomorrow.....

Maggie here : Oh Remi, that ole GHL, MADE you set out in all that snow?. :o Oh, I just wanted to cry, I didn't realize that ole GHL treated you so badly. :? You didn't look like you enjoyed it. Maybe if you had run around and jumped and all like I do you wouldn't have been cold as you looked. I sure did like that GHL, until I saw what she did to you , I'll watch my p's and q's around her from now on :? ;) Did look like you had a really nice walk, I sure would like a nice hike like that, was it hard for you to climb?

I hope you have a safe trip home,
Your Friend,
Maggie

Remi, sounds like you are enjoying your time there, in spite of the gray kitty. Good for you!

Shade here Remi!!

Oh that looks like so much fun! I'm about your size and we could have played together. I would have shown you that it's fun to take snow baths and to plow the snow with your nose.

Me and my human Mom use to live in Maine when I was a pup and it snowed up there a lot. I grew up playing in the snow. Sure did miss it when we moved south. And here in UT? It rains a lot and makes it mucky. I don't like mucky on my feets and fur. Of course Mom has to wipe off my feets when we go back inside. (psst) Only go out in the rain iffin I really have to, if ya know what I mean.

Please try a snow bath and bite the snowballs for me!

Hey, there, Remi....You do a little put out with the snow, but from the way it collected on your leg fur, you must have done some romping....See I'm a Georgia dog, born and raised and really don't like the cold much either....Oh, I go out every little while to check on the camping dogs and to hunt squirrels here, but we're having a cold snap right now, so I do like to get back inside and get warm....anyways, glad you are having a good Christmas visit despite the "gray kitty "....ya' know, they are fun to chase and send up a tree, too, just like them there squirrels.... ;)

Have a safe trip home...and tell the GHL I say "hi"......

Hi Remi, Winnie here sending you a big hug cause you look cold and like you don't like the snow. We had that kind of snow one time that stuck all over me and when I came in my Mom took one look at me and popped me into the bath tub with nice warm water. I have little papers and if it's cold or raining I just say no thanks when the boys go outside. If you want to come stay with me you can have a paper too so you don't have to go out, we'll be fair weather pottiers.
Oh, and thank you for the pictures my mom really liked them.
Merry Christmas a bit late,
Your friend,

Abby here...my Mommy is laughing like a goofball...I heard her tell Daddy (not that he understood, mind you.) that some of her favorite posts on this Forum are when the human ladies pretend they are the dogs that control their lives, much like me...

So, thank you all for making Mommy laugh. I miss that sound.

Love,
Abby

Wow Remi...you are so lucky! I would have loved to hike up that mountain with you. And I even like snow...but that big blue ball was the best! I love balls, and I can't understand why my mom doesn't buy me those big ones anymore. I used to love chasing them around the yard and pouncing on them until they broke. Oh, maybe that's why? I've never tried chasing big snowballs....wonder if that's fun? The snow on your legs looks heavy....is it hard to run like that? Have fun, and tell the GHL to drive carefully back to Ohio.

Gracie here:
what is all that white stuff? I've never seen such a thing, but the hike looked fun and as
far as that scary gray panther, I could just destuff that kitty in no time and that would
be fun! Fun is the name of the game in my book.

Hi everyone...this is Torrie, another grey kitty! While I do enjoy reading your posts, I don't really like snow, dogs, or lots of humans except for my mom and my grammy! But my mom is a little confused and says she needs a translator, whatever this is. Seems she doesn't know what a GHL is...so do any of you hounds...er, um....canines know what that means? I know she'd be happy to know...

Gotta run, I hear mom coming down the stairs...I gotta get back under the binkey before she knows I've been on the internet. I hope ya'll are able to find your own binkey and are able to stay warm...

Peaches here. Was rolling in the snow this morning. It seems to be going away - Mommy says that's melting whatever that is. Anyway, I don't want it to, but Mommy sure does - says she thinks it's pretty, but that it means the temps are going up. She likes that. I like this snow. Fun to run in and roll in. Although I don't understand why Mommy didn't want me laying next to her when we came in and I had it all over me. It just disappears, and too quickly for me.

I can't call mommy GHL yet. But I learned that phrase from you Remi and your gang, and am waiting patiently for that day. Mommy says it may never come. Ha - like she can stop it.

Sun came out here this morning and Mommy says the roads look so much better. She's happy about that. Will be able to get around like she wants to. But I think it did her a world of good to just hang with me yesterday and play on here and watch tv. I sure was glad to have her all to myself, too.

Peaches, so glad you got some more time with your hooman......I think that would only be fair given those past weeks that you spent being so understanding...your "lets do something together" tank must have been close to empty.... Your friend, Remi.... ps: Look forward to hiking together in the future.

I'm sorry, but that is the saddest , most forlorn looking little dog, I have seen in a long time. He is just precious !!! Everytime I come to this thread, it takes me right to his pictures, not to the last post I've read. That 2nd picture is , oh just makes me want to pick him up and get that snow off him and have a good cuddle.

Think its time this tired ole woman goes to bed. Was falling asleep so came in to bed early and checked into the forum and here I am. Not making much sense, no real sleep for two nights, best get some. Oh Furnace is working too. I will write in the morning. Nite all
