Operation: Rescue Husband successful

Postby jemek » Sun Dec 26, 2010 7:04 pm

Dh went down to the TT to get some things that we had not yet taken out. A few blankets, some water bottles and stuff out of the bathroom.

I am cleaning up the kitchen and I get his TEXT from him

"Need gel stuck in trailer".

I text back this WHAT?
Then DS get's a Text from him
Need help ASAP.

Okay...this is our HOA gated RV storage. DH has the gate card. So I have to call the HOA security to meet me there and let me in the gate. So I head down there and wait for security. He comes and opens the gate. I then ask if he could follow me in, as I was not sure what my husband meant by being stuck. The "gel" word made me wonder..if this was going to be a call the fire dept type of thing.

So we get in there the main door is locked, but I see the keys in the bunkhouse access mini door. The door is closed. I walk back there and see DH through the little window. I open the door..and just shake my head.

I go tell the security guy he is fine and Thank him.

You see DH went to get the blankets out of the bunkhouse part. The mini access door can only be opened from the outside. There is no handle on the inside. He failed to latch the door open. Once inside..it swung shut..and viola he was trapped.

He could not go out the bunkhouse to the main part of the trailer, as the bunkhouse door opens out into the main part and with the slide closed you can only open it a few inches.

Good thing he had his cell phone - or you'd still be wondering where he was.

  Glad he didn't have to wait several hours for you to go looking because you didn't know what was taking him so long! My phone would probably have been in my car.

Now that's just funny! And yet one more reason to always carry the cell phone on one's person...  Still don't understand the "gel" thing tho...a typo?

The "gel" was suppose to be HELP.

I told him it was good that he had his cell phone on him and not in the truck.

I told him eventually we would have realized that he was not back yet..and most likely we would have gone to check on him...but it might have been a couple of hours.
I would have assumed that we might have discovered mold growing (which is why we check on it every couple of months). We have issues with the bathroom door always growing mold. I think it is on the inside of the door and leaches out in the winter months. Sometimes in the fridge even if we keep it open. So I would have assumed at first that he discovered that and was cleaning it. We keep bleach wipes in the trailer all winter for that job.

He even found if funny...once he accepted the fact he was stuck and would have to be rescued.
