Hello from Oregon

Just wanted to say hi. I have been lurking for awhile but decided it was time to join. Why? I just ordered a Camp-Inn 560 teardrop. (Here is a link for those who are not familiar with this camper: http://www.tinycamper.com/raindrop560ultra.htm)

Now, don't laugh. I know it does not compare to most of rigs on this board but it is my first foray into RV'ing. I originally thought I would buy an RV, quit my job and hit the road. (Just turned 50, second mid-life crisis?) Unfortunately or fortunately, I was awakened from this dream by a good dose of reality. I currently take care of my 81 year old mother so it is impractical to 'hit the road' at this time. A bit squeamish about finances as well and probably won't be able to sell my house anytime soon.

I did not want 'reality' to stop me from enjoying adventure and the outdoors so I decided to buy a teardrop. The benefit is that it can be towed by my Subaru Forester and stored in my garage. Who knows what the future will bring.

Welcome Joan! And congratulations on your new TT and the start of your camping adventures. I met a couple out west with a Teardrop a few years ago....first time I'd seen one. I was very impressed with the ease of towing and set up. They didn't have to back up with the TT attached. It was light enough to unhook and push it into it's camping spot! I know you'll have a lot of fun with it as you adjust your sails/dreams to align with the wind.

Welcome Joan! I'm happy to see another west coaster join us. Your Teardrop is darling. What clever use of space. Take a look at our planned gtg in Bandon next August. We have four confirmed at this point, and a couple maybes. Have fun camping!

How cute, Joan! Way I see it, it doesn't matter what you have to camp in as long as you get out and do it! Glad you're at least living part of your dream, and who knows what tomorrow brings? Welcome to the forum!

I haven't seen a Teardrop with the front like that. Certainly makes for more space inside.

Welcome Joan, glad you decided to join up. I think the teardrops are soooooo cute. We have RVs of all sizes and they're all welcome. Post pictures as we all are pretty nosy bunch and LOVE pictures.

Right now the plan is for Mom to come with me. We are going to drive to Wisconsin this summer for my nephew's wedding and pick up the camper on the way home. We will see how it goes.

We also plan on bringing Bailey with us. He is a 10 lb cockapoo. He is not too keen on the car so I need to start some reconditioning right now. Plan on using his favorite treat, chicken. I would post his picture as my avatar but haven't figured out how to do that yet.

love that little teardrop, and I spent a really long time cruising through all the pictures
on the website. Did you get any of the really cool options, like that hot water heater
is really cool, and so is the ac, but that idea of course comes from me living in the hot
Arizona desert. Hope you get a chance to post some pictures soon cause we love pictures!

I did get most of the options including the AC, TV, furnace and solar hookup. I have until July to make up my mind regarding the accessories like the hot water heater. Pretty much, this little camper will have everything except a bathroom.

That's so cool that your Mom plans on camping!! (or does she know it yet?)

My husband, who will be 80 in May, has Alzheimer's (early stages) and he mostly forgets how much he doesn't like camping anymore.
I just keep telling him he LOVES it.
Oh, my bad - I don't do that - HONEST.
He's okay as long as he has television...no boondocking for him.

You'll figure out the pictures. Then we'll expect lots of them when you get your cute trailer.

We have a tiny trailer that would fit in most of the other rigs on this forum ( http://georgeandmichelle.com/mobile%20marlin.html ).
It's a very lightweight, little 16 footer...

Hi, Joan, welcome. Where in Oregon do you live? I love that state. Do take a look at next August's get-together in Bandon. If nothing else maybe you could just drop in for the day or for a couple days. Would love to meet you.

Welcome Joan. I am also from Oregon but am working and living in my Motorhome on the N. CA coast until April. I live in southern Oregon near Ashland. What part of the state are you in as there are a couple of us here that will probably see this and join in.

It certainly doesnt matter what you camp in, the fact that you are camping will make it all worthwhile. You have the advantage of being able to park anywhere. Me......have to pick my spots wisely. I use mine for also living in while on assignment so my needs are different.

I also travel with a small dog for company but she loves to travel so I am lucky there.

Hope to see you at the GTG in Bandon. I am not sure if I will be taking my rig or just driving over to meet the wonderful gals from this forum. I never know where I will be....my assignments are 13 weeks at a time, so that is how I live my life ha ha August is just waaayyyy to far out to plan for this gal.

Welcome Joan!!! What fun you are gonna have, To me the beauty of this land and the wildlife in it is nearly sensory overload, each time I see an elk, a rainbow, a bear is just as thrilling as the first time I saw them. There is nothing like it!

I would love to have the teardrop for a variety of reasons. I currently am fulltiming and plan to for many years so I felt the need for space and size but it definately takes some of the spontaneity since you always have to consider where it will or will not fit. I envy you that freedom. With the tear drop you will save tons of money on gas.

Don't worry about what you have to camp in - you are ahead of some of us who still don't have any type RV/camper.
