New Adventur in the Making

Postby ali1257 » Tue Dec 14, 2010 12:33 am

Thank you all for your encouragement, support and prayers.

We ended up with 4 job offers: the carnival wanted us back, two host positions in California and full time positions for both Ron & I in Hondo, TX. We have accepted the positions in Hondo. It is for an Escapees Co-op RV Park, Lone Star Corral. I will be the Office Manager and Ron the Outside Property Manager. It is 40 hrs a week for each of us. We start on 3/14/11.

We are making our plans now for our trip there. We will leave Blaine on Sunday, February 13, 2011 after church and head to Lewiston, ID to spend a few days with our son and his family. Then on to Middletown, CA to see my aunt & uncle. Then to Fresno, CA to see some of Ron's cousins and then to Las Vegas for 3 nights. We have a baby buried there and we rarely get to go to the cemetery and since we are kinda going to be near there we are making a stop + there is a TT there we can stay for free. After that we will go to Tucson/McNeal, AZ to see two of Ron's aunts & uncles and then make our way to Hondo. Karen we are planning on staying in Kerrville on 3/10/11 - where do you recommend we stay for the night. We will continue to Hondo on Friday. Spend the weekend getting set up in our site and be ready for work on Monday 3/14/11.

We signed a 13 month contract and if we like it and they like us we can stay longer. It is very comforting to know we have a job that is longer than a few months. We will be able to pay off some outstanding medical bills, get some savings built up and then have some fun. It will be nice not to be worrying about how we are even going to get groceries.

Again, thanks for all your prayers and support.

Will write more later.

Sounds like you decide to find a place to stay put and settle down for awhile now. Hope that works out much better than the short-term jobs you've had recently. The pay must be pretty good for you to make a 13 month commitment. Good luck with your new adventure!

Congrats, Alice!!! I'm glad things are looking up for you ;) Sounds like quite an agenda :o When you come through AZ, would love to GTG, if you can! I'm sure Ava would join in, too. Keep us posted! Have you been to that place in TX before?

Great news Ali. I've been thru Hondo before, don't remember if I've stayed there.

I've seen the sign they're famous for, even had it on the cover of National Geographic!

Alice,

I'm so happy for you and Ron. Getting that job truly was a stroke of fate. Now you know you will have steady income and not have to worry as you say. It sounds so good. At least you will know where you are going to be for another year. Congratulations. Santa was certainly good to you this Christmas.

I am so happy for you and Ron, Ali. "All things work together for good for those who love the Lord..." Prayers do get answered, even if the answer isn't always what we expected. Maybe I'll get to meet you while you're in Texas.

CONGRATS, Ali! Now that is certaily a wonderful Christmas gift for both you and Ron! What a relief to not have to worry about where food and income will come from for a while. Both jobs sound great, compared to the last couple of stressful jobs you had.

Happy Christmas!

Thank you all for the congrats. We are so excited and usual a little nervous but who wouldn't be.

To answer a few questions ~

No, we have never been there before.
We both like the heat and have both lived in the desert before so am not anticipating any problems there
Vicki loved that picture...will definitely have to show that one to Ron
Linda & Ava where in AZ are you? I know we will be in Tucson and McNea. That is where Ron's aunt's & uncle's live. We will be staying in McNeal and driving to Tucson. We don't have to pay to stay in McNeal. And since we have our cute little red Jeep we can drive back and forth no problem.
As far as settling down for a year - we look forward to having a base place to be able to visit and check out a whole new area for us. We love to take short weekend trips and go exploring so this will fit us just great.

Will definitely keep you all updated. So far we have gotten lots of encouragement about our new adventure.

Wooohooo - doing the happy dance for you! I love TX - and there is so much to explore there. I think you'll enjoy this. And if you're ready to move on after the commitment, you can. If you really like it, you can stay. How kewl is that.

Congrats.

Great news Ali and congrats. Sounds like you will not take the MH? Are they supplying the living quarters? Sounds like the best of all the offers. Keep up posted on the happenings. Linda

Oh yes, we are taking the motor home, towing our little Jeep Wrangler behind. Included in our pay is a full hook up site with electricity and free use of the laundry facilities plus of course our hourly wages. We live full time in our motor home, have no other housing.
