Cold, Rainy Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

I always get comments from my customers saying they like how meticulous I am with their hair. They don't feel rushed. They say they can tell I've been cutting for a long time because of my attention to detail. I like to do it right the first time. :D I don't want to compromise that by trying to meet a rediculous time frame. It also depends on the cut. If I am doing a buzz cut or typical men's haircut, I can do that in 12 or 13 minutes, but if I am doing a woman or girl with long hair, it sometimes takes time to comb thru the hair to get the tangles out, then cut it, then dry it (partially at least), and that can take up to 25 minutes or more. It averages out pretty much, but somedays I have more men to cut, and some days I have more women. Lately, it seems I've had a lot of women with long hair who want layers so that takes longer.

I just figured that I would save $70 per month in gas at this other shop from what I am spending now. That is a lot! (that would pay for a couple of fun day trips per month!).
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Oh Barbie I did not mean that you should cut hair that fast... just that there are some that have had to do that before... I do hope you get the new job and that you can be at ease with your work... that means a lot with return clients... they need to have confidence in YOU not how fast you go...

Don't worry, I didn't take it that way :D I know some stylists can cut that fast and do a good job. I just happen to be a perfectionist so I spend more time to make sure it is as good as I can possibly get it. I think everyone has a comfort zone. When I try to cut faster, I either end up cutting myself (which takes time to go get a bandaide, etc), or I end up taking even longer for some reason. Reminds me of something my Grandma Rose used to say, "the hurrieder I go, the behinder I get".

thanks Barbie, I did not want to hurt you in anyway... never would do that... Gwen says sometimes when there are a glut of beauticians they tell people things like that to scare them and it also helps them pick the best ones out... these 'best' ones are not always the fastest ones... they can be the one that causes fewer arguments... as you know well tension is like putting fire on beauticians... and maybe the ones that will try... and believe it or not sometimes they do not want someone that is a yes man... it seems you must be a psychic to know what they want...
I had a hard time in sales as I told people what was correct not what the manager sometimes wanted...
Tough times we live in... but you can choose and stand tall as you do your best...
