NO NO NO - it's not Thursday morning - it's still Wed night to me lol - We get to our dinner break at work (9:30 pm) and talk about how our "morning" went. What can I say - my days and nights are reversed.

Okay, I'll admit, it technically is Thursday morning. But I'm going to bed now and when I get up about 1 or 2 pm - it will be MY Thursday morning :)

Have a great day all.

It's Three O'Clock in the Mornin-remember that song

Postby kdmac » Thu Dec 09, 2010 6:53 am

I am still packing my TT up and getting close to heading out within a few days. But, in the meantime I am still at my house with my DH who gets up at 2:00 every morning, showers, eats, and leaves for work at 3:00 so he can find a parking spot near his building inside Boeing, plus puts in two OT hours every day; he is a better man than I am! Anyway, I rarely sleep through all of that and end up wide awake for an hour or two, or three, or four. I am packing my TT with eartly belongings like boxes of precious photos (before digital days) and similar things. I am having a certain amount of anxiety about my new lifestyle, but I am trusting once I start living it I will love it. I want to adopt a small dog fairly soon, love Corgies but I need a dog with significant legs for all the walking we will do. Hope all of you have very good day, safe, warm, and happy. I will do photos very soon, I promise.

Oh Beth, I worked a sked like that once when I was still in the Navy and while it has some benefits, it does seem like you're on a different time zone from everyone around you. If you were in Nashville you'd be luckier than me since it was 19 this morning when I left out for school but if my "morning" wasn't until this afternoon it should be in the 30s. Much better. They say we may have to cancel or delay school on Monday because the temps will be in the single digits and our buses won't be start when it's that cold. Now I like a snow day as much as my kids, but it's exam week and I'd like to just get things out of the way. Oh well, enjoying my chai and oatmeal and thinking about grading papers. Morning all!

Good Morning everyone,

Here it is, Thursday already. Another week is going to be over before we know it. For those of you trying to get ready for the holidays, time is growing shorter. Don't remind us, eh

At the moment it looks like it's clear out, temp about 9 degrees, but clouds are going to be rolling in. Storm coming tonight into tomorrow morning with, you guessed it, more snow. Although they are talking 1-3 inches stuff. We got dumped with 4 inches on Tuesday night and it's still out in my drive, waiting for me to get it cleared out. Yesterday was beautiful. Sunshine and light winds. Sso I went shopping and took the girls fora naice long walk, so we could enjoy the sunshine. With all the nice fluffy white snow, it made for a great picture taking day, but me with no camera  The stuff is on the way however and should be here between tomorrow and next Wednesday. I almost broke down yesterday and was going to buy one of those disposable cameras, but decided not to. Will wait. Snow will be here.

Just finished up a breakfast of scrambled eggs, mixed with sausage and shredded cheddar cheese. Yummmm. And topped off with a bowl of strawberries. :)

So I don't need to tell you what I am going to be doing for part of the day today. Time for snow removal. First though I am making a quick trip to town to pick up the stuff to make a jello salad for tomorrow nights party. Was holding off till they knew a little more about this storm and how long it was going to last and how much snow was going to come down. But it sounds iike a quickie type thing, so I plan to head to party unless situation changes. Decided to make my Lime jello salad with the pineapple, cottage cheese, nuts, cream cheeese etc. Easy to do and everybody loves it. It was the first thing my cousin suggested when I was wondering what to make. Then when I come home, I will tackle the snow unless I decide to leave it till after this next batch. Nobody's bothering with the snow around the neighborhood and the county didn't plow the road yesterday either.

I find that very interesting that Nashville would cancel school becasue busses won't start  Apparently they must run on diesel fuel Haven't they ever heard of engine heaters. Up here we go regardless unless it's snowing way too hard for visibility problems and drifting roads. Doesn't matter if it's 70 above or 30 below.

Bought a couple of LED candles for my new candle holders that I have yet to put up in my kitchen. They have initials on them, so I bought one with my first initial and one for my last. Think they will look nice.

So I'm off to get this day started. Enjoy it, whatever you are doing

Good Morning to All. Woke up early -for us - this a.m. Guess we will be on the road again today heading further south. There is hardly any one here in Kino this year. Lots of houses on the beach for sale. Don't know whether it is the economy or ass the problems with the cartels that end up in the North American papers. Bill just read that the tourism this year in Mexico is 61 percent lower than last year which was aslo low. Lots of places here are laying people off because there are not tourists.
Weather is very nice. Shirt sleeve warm during the day and cozy cool at night.
Updated blog again - about rest of highway here and Kino and fun with the ATM....
Weather says it is 3 degrees at home. Brrrrr.....
Guess I'd better get dressed and get ready.

Good Morning and thank you Lori for starting the day off for us... wow that is a great breakfast as I sit here with coffee... breakfast is far from my mind...
Our busses ran on diesel fuel and we had to plug in the heater every night... we transported between 10,000 and 12,000 students every day... we had 135 busses and vans... big job... I enjoyed my kids but not the monitors they put on my bus... so I quit when I was 68... miss the money but not the hassle...
Today I will make broccoli soup... the manager of the park that I am in is not feeling well... she is in a depression... depression is a hard thing to know what do do about... you can just support the person and encourage them to get up and move... they love the soup I made last year so that is to be a winner today... maybe a german chocolate cake to top it off... they will have to put with it what ever they want...
Oh Sue you are a busy lady... my energy left me several years ago... I used to look forward to the bursts of energy that came at holiday time and in the spring...
The lady that runs the office has not been able to open because of the cold... they are in transition and have a temporary office set up in the 'ice house'... so the second temporary office is the crue managers' home next door... there are a lot of empty spaces now... I think it is due to the cold... burrrr
Shadow and I got up by 8 this morning that is unusual for us as it is usually around 10... I can hear the ducks cooing as they fly over... Duck season is soon and they will be shooting them... they do not shoot them for sport but for food...
I trust your day will be a good one...
Kathleen
Carol you popped in while I was typing my long post... safe travels... do you fear the cartels? after what happened to that husband I might be a little fearful of going there...
Kathleen or Kathy

Use today wisely it's all you have; yesterday is a memory; tomorrow a dream... KLW[/b][/color]

If you have a scanner think about scanning all your photos into your computer and then storing them on flash drives for safety. I keep my flash drives in a small fireproof safe in the RV.

Yes, that's a good suggestion. I do keep all my photos on a small auxilliary drive and use little flash drives for various purposes. I have my small netbook via Verizon and then a large "stand-alone"computer with Illustrator and Photoshop that is not connected to the internet to create design work on and then download any work I do onto the thumb drive and to my netbook so I can mail it to whomever...sounds laborious but it works.

I noticed I boo-booed this morning :? . I didn't title the "new morning post" with the word "Thursday" in it. I guess I should let the women that know what they are doing do the major postings...I'll just add a comment or two periodically. When it was three oclock in the morning I just felf like connecting to the outside world; whhoooopps

Good morning! Sunny and 54 here in southern California!

I just called into work to find out my schedule this next week. Well, I don't go in until next Tuesday! I'd be thrilled, but I need more hours and I don't know what I am going to do with all that time off and no money to go anywhere or do anything! I am already getting bored from just having the past 2 days off. I have little projects to do but nothing too fun. Lots of books to read but can only do that for so long...
Would love to drive up to Santa Barbara where I used to live and check that out and see what's new up there. Frustrating!!! :(

I did get a response on my Craig's List ad for my bed frame so maybe I can sell that today.

Now I am going to get dressed and go deliver job applications to the local Great Clips.

Hope you all up north and out east can stay warm today!

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

I do believe the weather today is gonna be beautiful here today. YEAH! Sun is shining strong out there and it's warming up nicely. Shade will get her bath today. Get her good and dry inside with the hairdryer then she can go out and scrub and roll on the concrete pad. LOL Weather web page said there was a 20% chance of rain but no clouds yet. It's early tho so they could roll in at any time. I sure hope not!

Need to go take showers then do a few errands. Never did go get groceries yesterday so that is one thing for today. Need to go to back to the post office and maybe to the library too. We have library cards from the book mobile that goes to the Lodge and they should work for the regular library too. At least to my way of thinking they should. It's the same county after all.

Sue like MI, NY will usually have school no matter what. The last 2 winters we lived in upstate NY, '92-94' we got some really wild snow storms. Had the kind of snow amount that I remember as a kid. '94' dumped snow on us that ended by time it reached the door handles on my car. Town I lived in totally plowed my driveway shut, had a wall of snow probably 10' to 12' high. We lived at the end of the street/road, the street dead ended where my drive began. Use to pick up the plow and use my 'circle drive to get turned around. Told them I didn't mind if they turned around but that they could leave the blade down. HA! They quit going around my drive and just started to STOP and leave all the snow right at the beginning of my drive. They would plow forward and then pack the snow into a wall. Called the town to complain but didn't get a whole lot of help The Kids had to climb over the wall to get out to the bus. That was easier than wallowing thru 4' of snow. OMG! What a chore and time of it we had getting it shoveled enough to get the car out. Now TN when we moved there? They really had no idea what the heck to do with the stuff. Would close school at the drop of a hat at a 1/2" dusting. If we got an inch or two? The whole blasted town would close down. If they predicted an inch of snow? The bread, eggs and milk would disappear from the shelves in the grocery store. We could not believe it! More than a few times I actually saw county workers out in 4x4's shoveling and spreading salt on the roads by hand cause they only had just a few salt trucks.  You could always tell the transplants from the northern states. They were the only ones out on the road when it snowed!!! All the locals were either hiding at home or in the ditches.

Ok, enough blathering. Gonna go check on the other postings and see what ya'll been up to. Hope everyone has a super day and remembers to stay safe.

Love to all

Offically COLD here. It may warm up enough for me to take the SHort Bus up to Kalamazoo for the dog show. I could get a motel room but driving in iffy weather I feel safer in the RV.....as long as I have gas in the tank and propane I can stay warm.....can't say that about the little car.....

Took my Kia over to Carmax and sold it today. Could have gotten more for it to a private buyer but this was very sweet and simple and DONE..... The check draft in in the bank. I did remind myself that the KIA was bought in June 05 when I retired and paid for completely out of my 120 days of sick leave $$ pay out (120 was the max they would pay out...I still had another 90 I lost. ) ....so any cash I got back today was still technically from "sick leave" money..... Sweet gift to myself. :) Good attendance has it's rewards in this case. :D

Posted a pick of my son's new purchase on Facebook. (Yes, newbees, you can fill up your hours following posts on Facebook also.... much shorter of course and the pics are easier to load. :D ...mine is Christine Burroughs Allen and from there you can pick out the faces of "friends" we have in common...just a suggestion....) Anyway, son lives in NYC, travel with his work a lot and hasn't owned a car in years.....rents them when he needs to and travels everywhere by plane..... He is planning to travel cross country from Portland to CHarlotte, NC (For CHristmas at his sister's home..) MY husband makes cracks about broken down vehicles and laughs. Me, :) I'm pretty proud! Crazy 32 year old kid thinks it might be fun to drive across country in an old Jeep wagon in search of adventure....sound like people some of us know? 8-) He is just a lot younger than most of us and his body doesn't require as much "memory foam"   or microwaves, or frigs...... And so what if it does break down....as long as it isn't in the middle of the snowy mountain pass in the blizzard...it isn't as if he can't afford the motel room and a rental car....he would just rather have fun doing it this way..... I'll keep you posted and......if I get a call from the State Highway Patrol :? But for the spirit of the thing....isn't it wonderful. And can you tell he isn't married, has no children and is separated from his "significant" other this spring.....he was ready to get more serious and she wasn't.

Enjoy the day....with money in the bank I can go explore the options for equipping the Bus and the HOnda for towing.....off to do research.... How do you chose between the tow bars.....I have always liked Blue Ox and I know people that have Road Master....but there are several choices within the brands themselves.....does the make of the car or the weight effect the model of tow bar (four wheels down)....

Officially cold here too. In fact I'm waiting for it to warm up another degree or two before getting some errands taken care of today. Actually going to be a bit warmer for a couple of days then bottom to fall out again. Rain Saturday and chance of it changing over to snow by Sunday.
One of my stops today is the grocery store. This is my routine shopping plus extra for soup makings but with that slight chance of snow in forecast the store will be mobbed (what Echo said is true - milk, eggs and bread usually clear out in a hurry).

Way to go Tina. Extra money is always good, enjoy every penny. BTW: Loved your photos of reading dog posted in campfire the other day. All your pups are getting to be famous.

Beth: You should be getting back on regular time soon. Hope you got heat working; coming week is really going to be cold.

Hope all are having a safe, warm day.

GOOD AFTERNOON TO ALL!

I spent last night back at the trailer, and then, after making sure all is well with my water pipes back there, I am now back in Orlando to get more stuff done here----like putting up my Christmas lights. I see that it's only 7 above zero at home, and still snowing! The girl I worked with at school for so many years tells me that a bad storm is forecast for Sunday night into Monday morning, and they are all hoping for a snow day! Linda also sent me some very sad news.

Our young English teacher, whose baby was due in less than three weeks, just learned that the baby had died in utero, and she had go to Burlington Hospital to have a natural birth of her perfectly formed, beautiful, yet dead, little girl. My heart just aches for her and for her family. I can't imagine why they insisted on a regular birth rather than a C-section to remove the child.....what agony for that poor mom. She is such a sweet person, too, and so conscientious about hers and her baby's health. Some things just make no sense whatsoever, and this is one of them. The family is having a private burial for June Lucille (named for both grandmas) tomorrow. What a horrible tragedy to lose a baby so far into a pregnancy....all those anticipatory months and excitement for the coming birth----all suddenly shattered.

I sent the school my telephone numbers in case the mom wants to talk and cry and scream to someone who has also lost a baby, and knows how important it is to allow the grieving mother to grieve openly without the fear her family probably feels for her that she will lose her mind. Many people are scared to confront a mom who has experienced the death of a child, for fear they will not know what to say, or for fear they will cry. I was grateful for all communications (other than supposedly comforting sayings like, 'She is in a better place now') and for the chance to share my sobbing and crying with others, as well. Perhaps she will need to talk when she is ready. Empathy is comforting, at least it was for me.

Weather has become sunny here now, and the temperature is coming up somewhat, although the strong winds are making it still very cold-feeling out there. I hope you all are having a decent day, wherever you are and whatever you are doing.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!
