SNOWY, COLD WEDNESDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

SNOWY, COLD WEDNESDAY

Postby Colliemom » Wed Dec 08, 2010 7:18 am

A Good Morning to all,

I'm sure you can probably figure from my post title, that is still snowing here. Got another dump again last night. We are getting around 2-4 inches a night right now. Not sure how much came down last night, but by the looks of my deck I would say about 4 inches again . This is the kind of snow the skiers and snowmobilers love. Light fluffy stuff. But the lake effect snow machine is widing down for awhle, so that's good. EXCEPT, a storm is coming for tomorrow night and Friday with heavy snow etc. Ah, life in the North Country in December  No question about a White Christmas here.

Seems everybody in the country has been going BRRRRR on the site here these past few days. Temp here is about 18 right now.FL is heading into the deep freeze too. And NY and PA are getting heavy snows. Winters here folks.

As for me, I am going shopping. The snow will still be here when I get home. It's been 4 days since I was last at the store and I need a few things. And the furbabies are out of doggie snacks  Thats akin to running out of Miracle Whip, can't have that  Also need to see whats going out outside my little sub here. Always interesting to see how much snow they have in Gaylord as opposed to here etc.

But I did get the house cleaned yesterday :P and did get the snow blown out and did take the girls for a bit of a walk. So we had a good day yesterday. Now I can do other stuff again, like get those candle holders up on the wall and so forth. If weather is going to be lousy, I can start painting my laundry room. Supposed to go to a staff party on Friday night for our park staff, but not if heavy snow is coming down. Will just curl up here in my nice snug house.

So I am off to get my hair washed, always gets matted and sweaty under my hat when I'm out blowoing etc., then off to town. Havea good day everyone.

GOOD FROSTY MORNING TO ALL FROM CENTRAL FL!

Yep, there is frost on my truck windshield this morning! Goog just called me from his house when he found frost there, to make sure my furnace here is still working ok. It is kinda nice to keep warm without having to stoke the fire every couple of hours! These poor Floridians are believing that hell has finally frozen over!

I finished making my chicken soup yesterday, and had it for lunch and supper. Today I will freeze some of it for future meals, try to put up my Christmas lights on the front of this house, and probably head back to my trailer to make sure my furnace and hot water heater kept things from freezing over there. We are to have a warming trend now for a few days, before the next bout of frigid, frosty temps hits us.

I got notice of my electric bill for my house at home for November, and it's no worse than if I had been there, which is amazing. I guess they are getting used to running that place a bit better than they had before. I have three utility bills to pay there----electricity, Verizon, and fuel oil. So far, all have been manageable. We shall see what the natural gas bill for this house will be after running this furnace for a few days now-----it fires up like a blast furnace! Oh yes---my clothes washer leaks just a tiny bit now, so it's good to go until I find a deal on a new one. The hot water heater here is gas, as is the dryer. The lights (LEDs) I got for the front of the house use just 6 watts of power, and should cost less than a dollar to run for the entire season! What a change from the old days, eh?

Now I need to pay my real estate taxes for this place this month, so will have to transfer some money from my meager savings, or charge it on a credit card. I have already paid my large loan (two more payments on that and it will be paid off) my truck, and my trailer for this month. It will be nice to have an extra 645 bucks per month when my loan is paid off. I can't imagine how nice it would be to not have to worry about expenses during retirement, but oh well. So far, I am warm, able to feed myself, and will have at least some Christmas decorations. As for Christmas presents, I guess I will get stocking presents for the kids, and try to afford some gift cards for others. Like all of us this year, it won't be an extravagant Christmas!

I hope all are warm and safe today, and that you all find something to do that will give you some pleasure.

Happy travels!

Brrrrrr! Yep, still cold in Nashville. My car was under the carport all night and the temp guage read 22 until I pulled out into the street when it dropped to 19. Came into school to find that as a "money-saving" effort the furnaces are turned off or else real low after we leave and not turned back on till 6:30 the next morning. So my classroom is a brisk 59 right now. Keeping my jacket on. Kids don't start class till 8:20 and I don't have a class the first hour so hopefully the room will hit the high 60s by then. My school was built in 1926 and still has the old radiators like when I was in elementary school (according to my kids I went here when the school was new) so each morning in the winter I am greeted by the clanking and smell of the old radiators firing up. I can almost smell a big jar of school paste!

Think I will surf the net and look at blogs of rvers in warmer climates to take my mind off the cold. Bundle up everyone!

Good morning, Roe here. It's a very cold 23 degrees in Ocala, FL. Bandit's sulking 'cause Mom won't let him out on the pool deck. Plus that carrier thing is in the living room to take him to the vet for a shot later this morning. Nothing good ever happens when that carrier is involved, he told me. I guess no walks for me today, either...just quick runs to the back yard. Think I'll just go back to my couch and huddle under the blanket.

Oh, I wanna snuggle with Roe! :D

I've heard rain pattering on the roof and against the windows during the night and into this morning. I didn't sleep well. Not sure why but figured it was going to happen. I can just feel my body acting like I've had too much caffeine or some such. Weird, but here I am!

I got a few groceries after bowling yesterday and made turkey legs and skinless/boneless tenderloins w/dressing in the crockpot. I tried one of those liners and....not so much. The plastic gave off a smell and I figured that can't be good cause if I can smell it, it's getting into the food. I then took the contents and dumped it all in a baking pan and put it in the oven. Turned out great! Sure smelled good in the house, too. So today, and for the rest of the week, it's turkey leftovers. Yum!

Tomorrow I have an eye appt. I will be glad to get some answers as to why everything feels like it's too bright to look at. I almost want to wear sunglasses while on the computer or watching TV. In fact, I did try that but it was too dark and then my eyes strained to read the screen..... ;) I sure feel like a whiner lately.

Geez, everyone keep warm and be careful on those snowy/icy roads!

Good Morning yes it is Burrrrrrr here too... but the sun is shining and it looks so pretty out... poor Shadow is sitting right by the heater... he must be cold also... we did go out yesterday afternoon for a while... but after the sun dropped a bit we came inside...
Looks like Roe is enjoying the warm blanket and laying on the couch... Shadow would not lay still that long... he is a wiggly guy...
I found out yesterday that my stove had not been used before no can you believe that it is a 98 MH... the clips are still on the underside preventing the grate from being lifted... so much in the MH seems to have never been used... makes me wonder why...
I hope today... will stay sunny and that the wind does not come...
Drive safe if you are your way or if you are home snuggle under the blankets...

Good morning to All from warm, sunny Mexico. When The Driver gets his act together we will cross the road and have breakfast at Jorge's on the beach. I know - that wasn't nice.
Left AZ and made it 250 miles south west to Bahia de Kino - right on the Sea of Cortez. Had dinner last night at Jorges - yum - then hit the sack. Got an email picture of our house in IN yesterday under a ton of snow.
We'll be here for a few days before we head even further south. All systems working - TV and Internet. This will be the last place we can pick up Direct TV but Internet is supposed to work everywhere. Verizon doesn't have a signal here at the beach but will pick it up again when in big towns.
Keep warm everyone.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Overcast but 45.9f here so I'm not gonna really complain. Gets down right chilly here at night but the days are usually moderate. Got to go grocery shopping today. Only really need to buy meat as we've got so much other stuff. I did break down and go to the store last night and bought ice cream. All summer long I dreamed and drooled at the idea of "bowls of ice cream" so I guess I will have to forgive myself.  Also have to go do laundry too, I am down to one pair of clean socks left and Kelly needs jeans washed too.

My other chore for today is giving Shade a bath. Ohhhhhhh her not gonna like her Mommy at all today. Will have to brush her out first then the bath so that's "2" insults to her poor little self!   After I'm all down with her she will pout, ignore and avoid me for a couple of hours. Other than that we don't have anything else planned. Such is our boring life. ~sigh~ (break here) Had to take Shade out to do some more business.

OK it's time to go see what new postings have been done and try to keep up with all of you. Have a great day, stay warm and safe!

Love to all

Since you all are surrounded with snow, I thought I would warm you up with some "fall" photos I took yesterday while out driving around...
