Still cold Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Still cold Tuesday

Postby HorizonSeeker » Tue Dec 07, 2010 4:43 am

Guess I'm first up this morning. Fell asleep on the couch last night around 8 so now I'm in for a long day. Decided to spend some time reading blogs and feeding my dreams. I have officially put in for my retirement and now it seems all I can think about is selling my house and finding just the right rv for me and Gus. While that's great I do need to focus on finishing grading and writing mid term exams. At school each day the kids are really hard to keep focused - especially when the snow is blowing around outside the window - and if they only knew how hard it is to keep ME focused on the lesson too! Current temp outside is 19 which is really cold for Nashville but fortunately those beautiful snowflakes that peppered the city off and on all day yesterday are gone without a trace. By the end of the week highs will be in the low 50s which is a more normal temp for here. And I console myself with the dream that next winter I will be somewhere warmer - just haven't thought about where for sure. For now I'll make my first cup of chai and watch the morning news and then knock out some more of the US History exam (have pretty much gotten the 2 English exams done). The chai is a new luxury, Bought myself an early Christmas present, one of those single cup coffee machines that uses the K cups. I'm not a coffee drinker but love teas and chai. Now with this Kuerig machine I can have my chai here leisurely instead of the overpriced and long line at Starbucks. Of course I bought the small size that should fit nicely in the rv! Oops - gotta keep focused.

Ha, would think I'd be smart enough to be somewhere smarter. A couple weeks and i'll be in Huntsville, then FL. Right now I'm downright COLD. Came back to the rv -it was 22 outside. Got inside and it was only 46! Long story, but I replaced my electric heater - and nothing I've tried works as well as the little one I had originally. And, unfortunately, now is the time my rv heater decided to go on the blink. Have someone in Guntersville who will fix it - but can't do that until I get here - so...., brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr lolol

It was also snowing again when I drove home this morning. Not a lot, but enough to make Peaches happy on the short walk - poor girl - I haven't been getting her out as much as she'd like for the past couple days. Will try to be better tomorrow. Might even go out to eat tomorrow. Time for a change!

Have a great day everyone. OH, and I turned the heater to high - and plugged in my little "baby" heater and it's up to 59 in here now. Will be warm enough eventually - and will be fine now when I crawl into bed - which I best be doing soon if I don't want to sleep ALL day tomorrow (today).

I echo the BRRRRRRs this morning! But, thank heavens to the repair man who got my furnace here in this house up and runnng yesterday afternoon, I am nice and toasty inside here today! I am hoping my trailer house is faring ok back at Goog's. I switched to the full propane tank before I left yesterday, left the water heater and the furnace both on with cupboard doors open. I suspect all is well. I am really glad I came over here as this furnace required a complete re-wiring and a lot of work. Weldon and Melissa said they had no problem with the furnace when they last had to use it, so who knows what happened. Anyway, I am very grateful for my appliance insurance, at this point. It cost me nothing to have that guy here for over 2 hours. I may renew just the heater and AC insurance, and not with replacement, as they don't even make such antiquated units any more. A total replacement will cost me about 4,000 bucks. But it will make the house worth a bunch more some day if I get this done. As Gilda said, "It's always something!"

It's about 33 here and 16 at home, so I still have a net gain of some warming degrees! This morning I need to strip the chicken meat off the carcasses I boiled yesterday, go to Publix and get me some poultry seasoning which I forgot to buy yesterday, and put together my chicken soup. Onions, celery, and rice will finish it up.

I had another fantastic, but very filled-with-dreams sleep again last night on my new sofa bed. I added my memory foam topper from the inflateable bed last night, and it made it even better! I just realized that I don't even have a clock in this house yet, other than the displays on the electric stove and the microwave. Nothing visible in my bed, and, what's more amazing, I don't even care what the heck time it is! I wake up every morning on the dot of 4:30, however, take a trip to the bathroom, and head right back to bed! Old habits die hard, I guess.

Going to pick up some baby aspirin this morning, too....I left mine back in the trailer. They are saying that aspirin is even more of a miracle drug than they ever realized.

Molly is hungry, so I will feed her before I head to the store. Beth, I sure hope you find a way to stay warm until your furnace gets fixed! Carol, when does your job begin? I don't remember if you got the hours you were hoping for, or not? And Kathy? And how did you make out, Liz? I am really hoping my orange trees didn't get nipped, as they are full of juicy semi-ripe fruit.

My friend, Laura, who has taveled down here with me in years past, tells me it was blizzarding up at my northern house yesterday, and about 12 to 14 inches of snow were predicted to fall by today. I'll bet it's beautiful, albeit cold, up there! At least I don't have to put on my snow suit and boots and go out to shovel out the woodpile! It's hard to believe that Cedar was getting none of that snow down in her valley!

Happy Pearl Harbor Day to everybody. My father served in the navy there, after the attack.

My goodness, am I the last one up this morning. Looks like it. Slept in a bit this mornng.

Seems everybody is freezing this morning. Hope it warms up for all of you. Especially you Beth. Hope you get that furnace fixed. Messing with those heaters is getting to be a pain. I bought a small Pelonis one earlier ths fall to keep for my TT. My boss has one he uses in his tent and he had it in our camp office at work this fall. I was surprised as to how warm that office got. And we are taling abut 500 sq. ft. roughly, maybe a bit less. And it has all glass for the most part too. I'm nice and snug in the house here. Like Carol says, the only downside is hgher gas bills, I'm on natural gas, but I'm warm and cozy. But this too shall pass. Someday, it will be nice and warm again, and we will wish it would cool off

Well, it snowed again here last night. Looks like maybe a couple of inches. Supposed to snow most of the day, but doesn't mean right here. Still lake effect stuff, so it can go anywhere the winds dictate. Not sure if I am going to haul out the blowers and clear it or not. Might, cause for the next couple of days, we aren't supposed to get anything. But first I am going to clean house. I did get my bathroom done after I got yesterdays snow finished. Took about 3 hours out there. Nice thing about it is, I don't have to shovel much as my blowers do all the work. And I did get a few things up on the kitchen wall again. Took the girls for a walk although they would much rather prefer to be back in the woods rather than leashed on the road, but that's life. County plow was coming by when we were out walking, but we were by a driveway, so just stood out of the way. You don't want to be in their way. Right now they are only using what they call "belly blades" up underneath the truck. But before long they will mount the big wing plows and then you definitely don't want to be near them

Soos, I love your dining set and what you have been doing to the house. The area rug looks really nice inf ront of the sofa. You have good decorating tastes.

Well, I'm off to start cleaning . Shouldn't take long as other than doing the kitchen floor, all I have to do is dust and vacum. Then we will pay attention to the outdoors.

Keep warm eveybody.

Just a quick note to catch up. Will be pulling out in a few munutes - as soon as I put the satellite dish down and heading for the border. will probably stop in Bahia de Kino and have dinner at Jorges on the beach.
It is blooming cold here this a.m. - got both heaters running for a while. Got a couple pictures from home - lots of snow so guess I'd best stop complaining.
had to fix our flat yesterday - didn't get done until too late to leave.
later......safe travels and warmer weather to all.....

Good morning all, it is a brisk 18 degrees here this morning. The dogs don't seem to mind at all and can't understand why I don't want to go out and play ball with them. Winnie and I just finished sharing hot oat bran and an egg for our second breakfast. I'm pretty careful with her though she gets very tiny bites.
I'm enjoying learning my new iMac computer although it has been frustrating getting my printer rebate set up, they spelled my name wrong and also my email address so that is going to take another call. Everyone I've spoke to at Apple has been very nice & all so far have been in Austin,TX.
I hope it warm when you and the driver get to Bahia de Kino Carol.

Very late good morning from Ocala. I "made" myself tackle the clutter on my countertops, office desk, etc. before firing up the computer. That's done, and am taking a break before vacuuming floors.

It was 21 degrees :o here this morning with a wind-chill of 13! Similar predictions are in store for the next 3 days, then back to the 70s this weekend. Hope Florida gets winter out of its system before the January GTG  I left the heat on in my RV set at 50 with cabinets open, so don't expect any problem out there.

Nothing much on the agenda today. Termite man coming this afternoon, and a run to the store for a few groceries & some Christmas cards.

Stay warm!

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

I think it's chilly/cold all over the place this morning, I was 26f here but it's warming up nicely now that the sun is up and climbing. Good thing as the maintenance guy just turned off the power. He stopped by to let us know that it might go off as one of the permanent RV's here ?? burned up it's power cord. At least that's what I think he said. Have no idea how long the power will be down.

Sitting outside with Shade now is funny. She has made friends with the 9 month old cat next door. The two of them get to going and playing and cracks me, Kelly and the neighbor lady up to no end! They chase each other around, stalk each other and pounce. Makes me feel better for Shade that's for sure.

Think today we will be doing some more sorting in here. Good grief we have got a lot of stuff to get RID of. Plus we have that small 4x6' store room. Getting rid of some of it will be heart breaking. But.......it's got to go.

Kinda short post today but that's OK, don't need to ramble and blabber about nothing anyway. ;)

Hope everyone warms up and has a good day, remember to stay safe!

Love to all

Just a quick, Good Afternoon!
Warming up here, near the 60s on the coast. Rain, again, but I'll take that over snow/freezing rain any day.
Bowled this AM. Had one good game. My team is still in 1st place. Unbelieveable as we have been dead last for the past 2 yrs!
Making crockpot turkey/dressing. Hope it turns out ok.
Stay safe/warm everyone!

The intepid forecaster says low 20s for tomorrow morning and a low of 17 (real temp not wind chill) by Thursday. But wait, it will warm up to the 50s by sunday. whoppee! But wait, there's more--another Arctic Blast will bring even lower temps next week. That La Nina is a pain and getting worse by the week! And they say that global weather change is a myth! Yeah, right! Bundle up ladies; try to keep warm...
