SNOWY FRIDAY MORNING

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

SNOWY FRIDAY MORNING

Good Morning Everyone,

Do you get the drift from my title, that is snowing here still? Same lake effect system snow that has been ongoing since Wednesday. But it has been light and very fine snow, I think we picked up maybe a bit over an inch last night. So it has been no big deal. I would say there is around 6-7 inches out there now. Supposed to taper off today and I have a feeling we might see some sunshine. Needless to say, it's beautiful out there. Every branch, twig and whatever are covered in white. The stuff that winter scences and Christmas cards are made of. Yesterday I took the girls and we walked back through the woods in a gently falling snow. It was so pretty and so peaceful with the flakes just floating down. I'm shooting some areas for possible Christmas cards. Think I might just have one. If the little lake across from me didn't freeze over last night and the sun comes out, I may go back over and retake that same shot with blue skies and sunshine in it.

Yesterday I finished up my kitchen and got everything back where it belongs. Still have to find some new wall decos, but that will come. Then went outside and hauled out the snow removal stuff and got into snow removal mode. Drive is all blown out as is my back deck. Still have to clear an area in backyard for dogs to use during winter. Right now they can get around fine, but as the snow gets deeper, they have a problem, so I keep about a quarter to half of my backyard cleared for them.

Today is going to be kind of a laid back day. Off to town this morning to do some grocery shopping and pick up a few other things. Then will walk girls later on. Getting harder to find places to walk now that the snow is here. Woods will be out of question before long, so it will be on the roads, which can get slippery from the plows once in awhile. So I'll have to put my cleat things on the bottoms of my shoes/boots.

So it's time to get the day going. Looking forward to hearing what everybody else is or hasbeen doing since yesterday.

It's beautiful where you live. The pictures you posted yesterday were beautiful. So glad you're sharing the scenery with us, as I doubt I'll ever see it in person again. Not on purpose, anyway.

So much to read on here this morning, it's keeping me from my task of last minute packing for my weekend camping trip with Nan. Cold out there too...30ish. It will warm up during the day though into the mid 60s and be sunny.

Bandit insisted on going out on the pool deck in spite of the cold. I set the timer for 30 minutes so I won't forget him....have done that 3 times already, but he says he's not ready to come in yet. Roe's gone back to sleep on the couch. He'll get excited when he knows the RV is going to move....and he'll be in it this time!

Enjoy your day everyone, and stay warm!

Thanks LIz, I enjoy the snow this time of year and have been busy taking pictures out there. If sun makes an appearance today, will do more. Think I might have my Xmas card one.

There are so many new folks joining this site and so much to read, I too am having a hard time keeping up with it all. Will catch up eventually. Posted some welcomes to the newcomers this morning and still have a few more to catch up on.

Enjoy your visit with Nan. Tell her I said hi.

Good Morning to All - As soon as we get our act together and the satellite stowed we'll be on the road. Saw our youngest and oldest sons again yesterday. Oldest has headed back to California. Youngest of course lives here. They are getting ready for the Christmas boat parade on Lake Mead. And we are getting ready to head out. Its a little over 400 miles to where we stop in AZ to finish up last minute things before crossing the border in Nogales. I am hoping The Driver doesn't think we have to do all 400 miles in one day.
At least it is finally warming up here in the Southwest. I love to see the snow but sure glad we aren't in it.
Well he is stirring so guess its time to get ready to roll. Hopefully when stopped satellite will go up and lock on and I'll be able to visit again later.
Safe travels and good weather to all.

GOOD LATE MORNING!

Molly and I slept in late this morning, as it was windy and very cold (by FL standards) outside my nice warm sleeping bag! I actually had the furnace running last night, and it really felt good.

Yesterday Molly and I walked on the lakefront park, and got a call from my son who had taken the afternoon off to have a shop pull his rear wheels for him so he could fix his brakes. I met him at the place, not far down the road, in case he might need a ride somewhere to get parts, or whatever. By the time I got there, they had put his car up on a lift and sledge-hammered both tires free! They didn't charge him a thing to do that, which amazed me. Goog tipped the guy who did it 20 bucks, as it sure was worth it.

He spent the rest of the sunny afternoon back here in his driveway, trying to install new brakes. When he got one side off he discovered the calipers on that side were shot----would not retract all the way,, which was the cause of his wearing his pads and discs to a frazzle in the first place. He called Hyundai to see if any shop had a pair of calipers, and none did. To order a set of new ones (rare, for some reason) for his Tiburon would cost 400 bucks! He then called other car shops, and found he could order a refurbished set for 150 bucks, but that, too would take a week to get here. So, he took it upon himself at that point to totally take apart the calipers and refurbish them himself! After another couple of hours of work, and me helping him bleed the brake lines by stepping on the pedal, he had the entire left brake assembly together and working! By then it was dark, so the other wheel will be done this weekend. Hopefully, the wheel will stay loose enough to be able to be removed when the time comes.

My son amazes me with his ability to solve problems in all areas of life. He is an ace carpenter, plumber, electrician, and mechanic. I guess my doing all my repair jobs myself when he was little paid off! I never touched electrical jobs, however-----he learned that from a company he worked with for a few years while he was going to college. Although he tends to have a short fuse when it comes to people behaving like idiots on the roads, and anger-management problems he is aware of and is working on, he remained calm and determined and serene all yesterday afternoon while working on those brakes. His father, on the other hand, would have smashed the car with his tools, tossed all his tools about the yard, screamed and sworn like nothing on earth anybody would care to hear, and frothed at the mouth with anger! I was so happy to see no 'like father like son' yesterday!

Today I will get out my Christmas decorations I brought with me for the trailer, and try to get those installed to look festive, and Christmas-like. I have some LED colored mini lights, some cute towels, a teeny tiny fake tree, and a fake, but pretty, wreath I bought the other day at WalMart. Later in the week, I will decorate the Orlando house a bit, too.

Tonight after they get home from work, the kids and I will load my dining table and chairs into my truck and head over to the other house for a night out. I will volunteer to be the DD, as I overdid it last night with a wine I bought to sample. I am not a wine drinker at all, but this sounded good and fruity. WRONG! It was acidy, strong, and put me down like I'd been drugged heavily! ACK! No booze for this body tonight! I will concentrate on my pool playing!

Those in Buffalo sure got socked with snow yesterday----many had to spend the night in their cars on the NY State Thruway due to heavy snow and a tractor-trailer accident. Bet they were glad to see those plows when they could finally get through. I hope most travelers had prepared their winter emergency car supplies-----heavy sleeping bags, extra clothing, snacks, water, flashlights, and whatever. It's also essential to keep one's gas tank as full as possible when traveling in snow country, in case of situations like that yesterday, so you can use your heater on and off to stay warmer. Also essential to have your exhaust system leak-proof to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

Off I go to pay some more bills and decorate for a bit. I think I'll make me a grilled cheese sandwich for brunch, too!I hope you all have a good day wherever you are.

Happy travels!

Good Morning to all... I got up at 6 and it was 30 burrrr let Shadow out and went back to bed... got up at 9:30 my kind of life it is now 50 with abundant sunshine and little breeze... Do not see any white stuff here... oh am I ever glad for that... Sue your pictures are so nice and from afar I could look at them all day...
I watched 3 more chapters of 'Wind at my back' last night... simply took the computer to bed with me... and that is literally... big bed good wall to lean it against and now that I know I can watch dvd's I can go to sleep with some great movies...
I still have the things out of the basement as it is still wet... there is a plastic over the carpeting in there so I prop it up to let the air get in... that could make a horrid smell if not dried out completely... I do wish I had had better eyes with me when I bought the new toilet... it is quite high... wanted high but forgot about the 6 inch wood pedestal it sits on... will make a box when I can get some wood to do it... but will have to have it cut for me as no saw in sight here...
Liz you will be on the road in no time tell Nan I will see her in Jan...
Hope you have smooth sailing to Mexico Carol... where do you stay?
Sue the plates you had up on the soffit were so pretty I hope you put them back up... I do not decorate very well so I do so enjoy seeing what others can do...
Today is another laid back one will take Shadow for a walk while I ride my trike... I rode about 4 blocks over and back yesterday so that is a total of 8 blocks... I know I will get stronger as time goes on...
Travel safe and enjoy the scenery along the way...
Kathleen
Soos you posted when I did so did not get to say good morning to you... oh my son Chuck is like Goog he can do anything... he started when he was maybe 12 or 13... I used to be able to do that but not anymore my brain is fired... have a good one Soos...

Just got my new iMac computer & printer all set up it is pretty cool. Going to take me awhile to figure it all out, I have my fingers crossed that all my stuff from the old computer transferred ok and that I can find everything. I'll miss having the familiar but needed to update. I need a nap, I didn't do all the change over had a geek come in but still had to be around.
Glad we don't have snow yet!!
